How to set up a navigator in a Navitel car. How to use and configure the Navitel navigator? Simple tips

Navitel is a satellite navigation program that has become extremely popular in the CIS countries due to the accuracy of displaying terrain and coordinates. Therefore, it is not surprising that the question of how to install Navitel on Android for free arises among users more and more often. Installation is carried out in two ways: through the Play Market and from an APK file.

Download from Play Market

To download and install Navitel from the Play Market for free, you need a Wi-Fi connection. The program itself takes up little space, but when you start downloading and installing the map on your smartphone, you will spend a large number of megabytes if you are using mobile Internet.

The same steps can be performed from a computer via the Play.Google.com website. To download Navitel on Android to a mobile device, we log in to the same Google account that is connected on the phone. When you click on the “Install” button on Play.Google.com, a list of available devices will appear. It is also better to use a Wi-Fi connection to download the program and maps.

When the application is installed, you need to activate cards on it:

  1. Launch Navitel. Select your language and voice.
  2. Accept the license agreement.
  3. Start a trial period to evaluate the program's capabilities before purchasing the paid version.
  4. Download maps. After downloading, the program will offer to install them - we agree and install.

The application can be used for free for 7 days, but then Navitel will offer to purchase a license. You can do this in two ways:

  • On the Navitel website.
  • In the application itself.

Let's see how to make a purchase on the site and how to install cards that you purchased from the program developers:

After payment you will receive an activation key. To use it, launch Navitel and follow the path Menu – My Navitel – Buy – Card – Activate. Enter the received key to make the card work. In principle, you don’t need to know anything else about how to download Navitel on Android and install maps through the Play Market.

Installation from APK file

If you cannot connect to Wi-Fi, you can use your computer to download the navigator. Let's see how to install Navitel on Android using an APK file.

  1. Go to the developers website navitel.ru. Go to the “Technical Support” section and open the “Download” tab.
  2. In the “Distributions” field, carefully study the offers for Android. If you know what resolution your phone/tablet has, choose the appropriate distribution. If you don't know anything about screen resolution, download the universal version of the program.
  3. Go to the “Maps for Navitel Navigator” tab and download the necessary maps. Please note: you can download a map of Russia, which weighs 1 GB, or limit yourself to the terrain of a separate federal district - such a map will take 4 times less space.

The files have been downloaded, all that remains is to figure out how to install the navigator on your phone or tablet. To complete the installation, connect the device to your computer via USB. Transfer files to the memory card - the program installer with the *.apk extension and the card with the *.nm7 extension. After moving your data, you can disconnect your device from your computer.

Preparations are complete, you can see how to install Navitel maps on Android via an APK file.

  1. Open the "Security" section in Settings. Enable installation of applications from unknown sources.
  2. Launch any file manager and find the navigator installation file with the *.apk extension in the device memory. Once the installation is complete, you can remove it from your device to free up space.

The program is installed, but there are no maps in it yet. To add them, you need to move the file with the *.nm7 extension to the / NavitelContent/ Maps folder. If you use a file manager like ES Explorer, then the file must be placed in the /storage/ extSdCard/ Android/ data/ com.navitel/ files/ NavitelContent/ Maps folder.

The Navitel navigation system is the main competitor of programs such as CityGuide and Sygic. "Navitel Navigator" is a system that has been familiar to Russian users for quite some time, since it was initially installed in most navigation devices supplied to stores. In addition, Navitel is available for most mobile operating systems. In a short time, the program changed its version number from 5 to 7, and a little later the eighth version was released, the functionality of which has expanded significantly. Support for the old map format has disappeared, which has confused many users. At first they simply could not understand how to use the Navitel navigator correctly. After all, we had to update the maps to the latest format, and we had to get used to new buttons and functions.

But don’t despair, because it’s enough to study the menu and system functions a little before traveling to understand how to use the Navitel navigator after updating to the new version.

Changes in the latest version of the navigator

In the eighth version of Navitel, a long-awaited event occurred: OpenGL support was finally implemented. This is necessary so that the map is drawn much faster. This is especially noticeable in 3D mode, when the approximate height of buildings is displayed. In general, working with Navitel Navigator has become much more enjoyable.

Navitel has also made it much more logical to lay out routes, especially if there are traffic jams along the way. Previously, users complained that due to traffic jams the routes were laid out illogically, but this has been corrected in the latest versions. In general, to understand how to use the Navitel navigator, you should understand the updated functionality.

License and prices

Navitel's licensing policy has become much stricter than before: program activation is possible only once and only between devices on the same operating system.

But in terms of pricing policy, significant changes have emerged: now maps for use in a navigator can be purchased “for a while.” This greatly simplifies the use of the Navitel navigator, since you do not have to spend a lot of money on a card that may be needed only once.

The developers themselves call it a subscription. Its essence is that by paying an amount of up to ten dollars, you can use one or more cards for a certain period. Unfortunately, this mechanism cannot be used for Russian, Belarusian, Kazakh and Ukrainian cards.

Prices for cards have also become much more reasonable. For example, a Russian card now costs $45. If you do not need a map of the entire country, then for 750 rubles you can buy a map of only one federal authority. Cards from other countries cost in the range of $20-45.

Subsequently, the maps are updated free of charge. In addition, the developers do not charge any fees for the Traffic Jams service. But for now it only works on the territory of the Russian Federation. Of course, with the rise in the dollar exchange rate, the prices of the cards were adjusted, but it is interesting that the prices in the Navitel store and in Google Play are slightly different (1500 versus 1350 rubles, respectively). This was at the moment when the rate reached 45 rubles per dollar, but now prices should rise further.

System requirements

In general, developers write on the official website only a list of supported operating systems and screen resolutions. The Android device must have a version of at least 1.6, but at the same time, the list of screen resolutions is generally a bit strange. Users have already noted that problems with the Navitel navigator occur on the Archos device, as well as Highscreen Ice.

Functional

This article will not talk about all the functions of the program, but in order to understand how to work with Navitel Navigator, you should know about the main ones. The program displays all the necessary parameters: signal level, battery charge. Navitel can be used in both vertical and horizontal orientation. For more pleasant work in the dark, a night mode is provided. The latest version of Navitel has implemented a very convenient search by addresses and coordinates. Unfortunately, there is still no universal search. Routes can be saved and loaded, after laying a new one, it can be checked in test mode. For more convenient operation, modes are provided for pedestrians, as well as for cars and trucks.

If your device has Internet access, you can use the “Friends” service to see them on the map. The maps display the weather.

Interface

It is worth noting that if the device screen resolution is not supported, then many objects on the map may not be displayed correctly: their sizes will not be correct for the most convenient work.

In general, the Navitel Navigator interface is quite nice, but key objects on the map are displayed very small. The device has a small screen size. For example, roads are just thin lines that cross the entire map. Looking at the screen while simply holding the device in your hands is still comfortable, but after attaching it to the windshield, problems with reading information may begin.

As mentioned above, the program can work in both landscape and portrait screen orientations. However, changing the orientation does not add anything to the program interface.

The eighth version of the navigator received a 3D mode, when the approximate height of buildings is displayed on the map. To be more precise, the navigator always works in volumetric mode, and when the user switches to 2D, the map simply deviates from the horizon as much as possible. And that's why it seems flat.

Problems with displaying maps

This decision resulted in a huge number of lines intersecting on the map, which do not disappear even after increasing the scale. Of course, many lines disappear, but to see what you need among the many plexuses, you will need to look carefully. Initially, some cannot understand how to use the Navitel navigator, because it is not entirely clear which line is responsible for which function. It’s good that the route laid out on the map is displayed as a thick line.

Unfortunately, the height of buildings is not displayed correctly everywhere. In most cases, the map will contain small buildings that are unlikely to be more than one or two stories high.

The program menu is very concise. But there are some drawbacks, since on screens with a resolution greater than 800x480, fonts and icons do not look very nice. Moreover, they cannot be scaled.

Another disadvantage is that when the device has found satellites and you need to scroll through the map, the program will try to focus on your location.

Results

In general, the program is designed with dignity and anyone can easily understand how to use the Navitel navigator; all you need is a little practice. We are also pleased with the free software and map updates and the ability to transfer them to the device’s memory card. Routes began to be laid out much faster and more adequately, and the detail of the maps has increased significantly. However, the routes are still not laid out perfectly, so before the next turn it is best to look at the navigator screen. Of the minuses: at first it is a little difficult to understand the lines on the cards, the icons and buttons are somewhat small.

Despite some shortcomings, the program began to work much better than before. Perhaps many will like some navigation solution from competitors, but they have not yet found such wide distribution as Navitel Navigator.

Navitel is one of the most common navigators in Russia. It is convenient to use, it is compatible with many gadgets, and it is convenient to build routes with it. This program is easy to understand; just practice at home.

Requirements

The Navitel program is installed in most navigators that are sold in stores. The developers also adapted it for most operating systems: iOS, Android, Windows. New versions are constantly being released that adapt to different versions of operating systems.

Therefore, you should not have problems finding the required program. Remember that the licensed version is paid, all free copies on the Internet are hacked. It is better not to download them, as unlicensed products will not be updated, which means the maps will become outdated and the routes will be incorrect.

Recently a new version of the Navitel navigator was released. It is easy to use and intuitively understands how to build and adjust a route. The developers have added new features that make maps load faster. This is especially convenient in 3D mode; all buildings and objects are drawn faster than before. Also, the routes have become more convenient and logical; they avoid traffic jams and accidents along the shortest roads.

How to determine your location

For normal operation, Navitel must connect to satellites. To do this, click on the “satellite dish” icon. The yellow color of the icon means that it is searching for satellites. Clicking on this icon will open a menu. Select the “satellites” button in it. Usually the program finds satellites easily, but if you are in a building, problems may arise. When the navigator connects to satellites, return to the main menu. The application will automatically detect your location.

Another way to tell your location to Navitel is to turn on GPS. This can be done after clicking on the satellite icon. Select the GPS button and the application will find you. As you can see, Navitel is easy to use, even a child can handle it.

How to build a route

To build a route, turn on GPS on your device (it turns on automatically on your navigator). The program will immediately prompt you to connect to the Internet to update traffic information. If you don't need it, you can refuse.

Navitel navigator user instructions:

  1. Once the app has found you, open the menu to build a route.
  2. The menu has several options for determining the end point of the path: favorites, history, by address, waypoints, nearest on the map, by coordinates.
  3. Choose the option that is convenient for you. You can set the end point of the route by address or GPS coordinates.
  4. After entering the address, the program will automatically build a route. The end point is indicated by a yellow flag.

Advice! Some motorists complain that navigators choose long and inconvenient roads. If you do not understand how to use the Navitel program in the navigator, manually plot a route along familiar streets, as convenient for you.

To adjust the route as you move, for example, to visit a city along the way, zoom out on the map and manually select the required location. You can give it your own name. After that, click the Find button and select Waypoints. Select “Show on map” from the menu. After that, click the “Check In” button at the top. The route is adjusted automatically. It is important to save it by clicking on the “Export” button.

Now you know how to use the Navitel navigator in any city and country. It is best to test it in your hometown before traveling to an unfamiliar area to evaluate its accuracy.

Convenient Features

If you have installed a navigator on your smartphone, you can use other applications (for example, your phone) without losing your route. The program has a full-screen mode, you can view streets in 2D and 3D. The map can be positioned as you wish: in the direction of travel, in the direction of the route, or oriented to the north. This can be done in the "Map Rotation" section.

In the “Navigation” item you can specify the route you need: direct, short, fast. Here you can also set a warning about maneuvers and the degree of sensitivity of the application to leaving the path.

You can manually create a route along the streets that are convenient for you. The program will also independently pave the way from one point to another, taking into account traffic jams and road signs. To receive information about traffic jams, accidents and weather, just turn on the Internet.

Navitel navigator can be used not only by car enthusiasts. In it you can choose a mode of transport, for example, a bicycle. This program is also suitable for pedestrians.

Possible problems

The main complaint of users is that icons are displayed incorrectly on screens with an 800x480 resolution, which causes inconvenience to users.

Another drawback is that it is difficult to scroll through the map when connecting to satellites. During this time, your device will be focused on your location. To access other functions, you need to click on them several times.

Watch the video “How to use the Navitel navigator” to evaluate the interface. The developers tried to make it as convenient as possible so that the driver is not distracted while driving. For this purpose, the application has voice control.

The Navitel navigator is a convenient software that searches the map for the shortest routes. It has a “voice prompt” function, which allows the driver not to be distracted by the navigator screen while driving. The operating principle of this device is quite simple, learning how to use it is not difficult.

The Navitel navigator has a full-screen mode, useful pop-up tips, and supports 2D and pseudo 3D modes. It implements scaling and fast scrolling of maps, it is possible to select the orientation of the map: in the direction of the route, movement, north. This program performs the following tasks:
  • location determination with display on the map;
  • automatic and manual route planning;
  • calculation of travel information, displaying it on the map;
  • object search;
  • route recording, display as a track.
To get any route, you need to open the navigator. The message “To update traffic jams, you need to connect to the Internet, allow it?” will appear on the Novitel screen. From the proposed answer options, you need to choose the appropriate one: “allow”, “always allow”, “deny”. If the answer to the question is positive, the program will become available for use and the maps will be loaded. Now you should find (turn on) satellites by clicking on the green “satellite dish” icon. If the icon color is yellow, you need to wait, this means that no satellites have been found yet. After clicking, a menu will open offering the following actions: “turn off GPS”, “settings”, “satellites”, “cancel”. You need to select “satellites” and wait a few seconds for the program to contact the satellite. For normal operation, Novitel will have to find at least 4 satellites. On the street or in a car this usually happens without problems, but indoors the program may not see satellites. When satellites are found, you should return to the main page by pressing the “back” key.

When satellites are found, the program will automatically determine your location and you can plot a route. To do this, you need to select “menu” at the bottom right, after which the program will offer options:
  • nearest on the map;
  • by the address;
  • waypoints;
  • favorites;
  • story;
  • by coordinates;
  • Navitel SMS.

You should select the menu item “at address”, after which the system will determine your current location. Now you should indicate the address where you need to go: select the country, city, street, house number and click the “go” button at the top left of the screen. The program will immediately plot the shortest route, marking the final destination with a flag.

If you need to adjust the route (for example, stop at a city along the way), you should simply move the map to the place where you need to stop. By zooming in on the map, you need to point your finger (stylus) at the desired city and save the selected point (by the way, you can give it a name). Then click the "find" button, "waypoints", find and select the city you want. In the menu that appears, click the “show on map” button, after which a map with the selected city will appear on the screen. Now you need to click the “drop in” button at the top of the screen, after which the program will automatically suggest a route taking into account the desired city. After adjustments, it is important to save the route by clicking the “export” button.

Once you understand the basic functions, you can create your own settings. You need to go to “menu”, “settings”. There are 6 settings in total, of which three are the most popular:
  • map rotation: you can fix the map with the north facing up or set the mode for its rotation in the direction of travel;
  • navigation: here you can select the type of transport, the route (straight, along the road; short or fast), set a warning about the maneuver, the degree of sensitivity of leaving the route;
  • additional settings: in the “device” tab you can configure sound, clock, power.

The Navitel navigator can be used by drivers, cyclists, and even pedestrians. This device greatly facilitates the search for the shortest route to the desired point, and working with it is not at all difficult.
