Setting a ringtone for calls, alarms, SMS, reminders: standard tools

- Using standard applications (built-in player, standard file manager, alarm clock, settings, etc.).
- Using slightly more advanced, or even geeky, methods - through a memory card with the distribution of the necessary audio files into the appropriate folders or, if you have superuser rights () - directly to the system partition.
The easiest way to set a ringtone is to use the standard features of the mobile operating system. For example, a built-in player or file manager. To begin with, we suggest you see how you can use the built-in player to set a ringtone.
Setting a ringtone: built-in player
1. You need to go to the Menu and find the Music application there.
2. By clicking on the Music application icon, you will be taken to the list of artists, where you can select the track you like to later put it on the call.
3. As an example, we used the track Mia Martina – Tu Me Manques (Missing You). After you have selected the track, you need to press the Options button on your device and select Ring.
4. At this point, setting the ringtone using the built-in player is complete.
Setting a ringtone: standard file manager
Another way to set ringtones is to use a standard file manager.
1. You need to go to the Menu and find the File Manager application there.
2. Select where exactly we will install the melody from. From the phone's memory or from a memory card (for example, if the audio file is located there).
3. After you have chosen (in our case, this is the phone memory), find the Music folder and open it.
4. In the Music folder there is a file 7e56efe4ccd251 with an mp3 extension, which clearly indicates that this is the file we need.
5. Click on this file and hold for a few seconds. A window appears asking you to cut, send the file via Bluetooth, etc. Select another option by clicking on the item located on the right edge.
6. After the list of sub-options appears, select Use as a signal and enjoy the installed melody.
Setting a melody for an alarm clock
1. You need to go to the Menu and find the standard Clock application there.
2. Go to the standard Clock application and select the leftmost item at the bottom.
3. After the Alarm Clock is launched, you should start setting the time and melody, which will take on the heavy burden :)
4. To do this, you need to click on the melody selection item, and, using the capabilities of any file manager, find the folder where the desired audio file is located.

Setting a ringtone for SMS is no more difficult than other options. In order to set a melody for SMS, you can also use standard tools.
1. You need to go to the Menu and find the SMS/MMS application there
2. After opening the standard application, click Options, and then click on Settings in the window that appears
3. After opening the Settings item in the SMS/MMS application, you must go and select the Notifications sub-item
4. Then you need to click on Sound. Notifications.
5. After, using the capabilities of the file manager, you need to select the desired audio file, which will be set as a melody on SMS/MMS

We create a media folder in the root of the memory card (sdcard) in which there is an audio folder in which there are folders alarms (for alarm clock), notifications (for notifications: SMS, MMS, mail, etc.), ringtones (for ringtones), ui (for interface sounds).

How to set a ringtone on Android through settings

- Go to your phone settings by clicking on the gear icon in the device tray. To open the tray, just swipe your finger from top to bottom across the screen.

- Among all the phone options, click on “Ringtone”.
You will see two sections:
- Incoming calls, that is, your ringtone.
- Notifications are signal messages.

- Go to the smartphone menu and find the “My Files” folder. All your photos, videos, audio recordings and documents are located here.
- Go to the “Audio” item by clicking on it with your finger. Please note that you can use storage here too if you go to the very bottom box. From there, setting audio as a call is just as easy.
- Choose any song to listen to and simply open it in the player. During the process, you need to click on the three dots in the upper right corner. In the pop-up list, select “Set as ringtone”. Your ringtone will change to this audio recording.

After this, the smartphone will appear in the “My Computer” window and you can open it.
After opening the smartphone, you need to go to the “Internal storage” section.
And then, open the /media/audio/ringtones/ folder. If you have a /media/audio/ folder, but it doesn't have a /ringtones/ folder, you can create one.
After opening the /media/audio/ringtones/ folder, you need to copy the MP3 file with the melody that you want to use as a ringtone into it. After this, the copied melody will appear in the list of standard ringtones.
