Enter the tp link menu. Step-by-step instructions for connecting and setting up a TP-Link router

I have already written instructions for entering the settings for almost all popular routers. I even prepared a universal one, but somehow forgot about TP-Link. Therefore, I decided to prepare an article on entering settings on TP-Link routers. Good and popular devices. I myself have been using a router from this company for many years.

To panel TP-Link control very easy to get in. Definitely no more difficult than on other devices. This article is suitable for all models TP-Link routers(TL-WR841N, TL-WR741N, etc.). Since almost everything is the same, that’s why I love TP-Link.

If you bought yourself a router and decided to set it up yourself, then you can’t do without logging into the settings, that’s understandable :) Setting up these routers is not at all difficult, you can set everything up without any problems according to the instructions on our website (if you don’t find it, write in the comments). Well, even if the wizard sets everything up for you, while using the router, you will most likely have to change some settings. For example: in the settings of your TP-Link, or update the firmware. And calling a specialist every time is not convenient, and also expensive. You can do everything yourself in a couple of minutes, and if something doesn’t work out, we’ll help!

Enter TP-Link settings: 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1

We do this:

  • Connect to Wi-Fi router. You can connect either via a Wi-Fi network or via a network cable. IN TP-Link settings you can even log in from a tablet or smartphone through (but you can also use a browser mobile device). But I recommend using a computer (laptop).
  • Open any browser and go to the address 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1. It all depends on the router model. The address to enter the settings is indicated at the bottom of the router.
  • You will be prompted for your username and password. The default is admin and admin. If you have already changed them, please indicate yours.
  • That's it, you've entered the settings. TP-Link router.

Now let's look at everything in more detail and with pictures.

We connect to the router via Wi-Fi or cable. Read more about how to connect to Wi-Fi. If you have a new router, just from the store, then the wireless network will have a standard name. Something like "TP-LINK_0919".

Or take network cable, which comes with the router, and connect it to your computer or laptop via a network card. And on the router in the yellow LAN connector. Like this:

Connected, now launch any browser on your computer. We need to find out which IP address can be used to access the settings of our router. Usually, in TP-Link this is the address 192.168.1.1 , or 192.168.0.1 . Nowadays they usually indicate not the IP address, but the domain. Typically this is tplinklogin.net (this address no longer works, I wrote more about this) , or tplinkwifi.net. At the same time, there is also access to settings by IP address.

Just look at the sticker on the bottom of the device itself. The IP address and standard login and password will be indicated there, which will also be useful to us.

A hostname may be specified.

We type the address of our router in the browser and go to it. A window should appear in which you need to specify a username and password. Everything is simple here: standard password - admin, username too admin. If you changed this data, please indicate yours. If you forgot them, then most likely you will have to do so that you can again use the standard data to log into the control panel.

That's all, we went into the router settings. If you have I can't access the router settings, That . In it I wrote about solving the most popular problems that may arise.

How to enter the tp link router settings - the first step after physical connection router. If you have successfully connected the device physically, you can proceed to configuration.

Before purchasing a router, you consulted with your provider and listened to his recommendations. After all, the quality of the services provided directly depends on the equipment of not only the provider, but also the subscriber. Compliance must be observed:

  • connection type;
  • connection purposes.

The router must support the connection standard used by the service provider. As for the second point, if the modem does not support multicas, then the provider will not be able to provide you with such services as IP telephony and Internet television.

- this is modern budget model, which is capable of providing network users high-quality Internet. Wi-Fi standard 802.11n, data transfer speed 100 mb/sec.

The tp link wireless router, like many other models, has 4 ports that are used to connect network devices- computers, TVs (without wi-fi), with their help you can expand the network by connecting another router. Installing a tp link router and setting it up is not difficult.

Physical connection of the modem to the computer

In addition to the router itself, the package includes:

  • electrical adapter;
  • network cable.

Based on this, you can guess that the adapter needs to be plugged into the corresponding socket on the router, and the plug into the electrical network.

A cable with an rj45 connector is connected to the corresponding ports on the modem and computer.
We also have a provider cable, which also needs to be plugged into the modem, into the wan port.

WAN stands for Wide Area Network, which means - global network. This port is usually labeled and highlighted in color. Most often blue.

If the physical connection could be made intuitively, based on the set of components for the modem, then in the case of settings, the question immediately arises - how to enter the settings of the tp link router.

If you examine the device from all sides, you can find a sticker on the bottom of it. It contains information about the manufacturer and a barcode. In most cases, it also contains the address, user name and password in order to enter the settings of the tp link router.

The modem can be configured without a physical connection to a PC. For example, from a phone or tablet by connecting to wi-fi networks. The network name usually includes tp-link and router model.

How to enter the settings of the TP link router? So, on the sticker you found the password and username. Usually these are admin and admin. In addition to them, there is an IP address, 192.168.1.1. This address must be entered in address bar the browser you are used to. Maybe it's Internet Explorer or Opera or others (Fig. 1).
How to enter the settings of the tp link router? We log in using the data provided on the sticker and the goal is achieved.

Possible connection obstacles

A situation may arise when, instead of the picture from Fig. 2, a message appears on the screen - it is not possible to access the site.
Your browser does not enter the tp link router settings. The issue, of course, is not the browser (unless you have Internet access), but other reasons.

These could be:

  1. Incorrect cable connection to PC. You can check whether the modem is connected to the computer’s network card using the display. If the light labeled lan is on, then such a connection has been established.
  2. In addition, the power and wan lights should be on. The wi-fi light is on when data is being exchanged.
  3. The settings of the PC network card contain static DNS addresses and IP. If you have already configured an Internet connection that requires static addresses, then they stayed. You need to change the network card settings and define the DNS and IP addresses as dynamic. That is, in the parameters network adapter you need to indicate that dns and ip addresses should be obtained automatically.
  4. Sometimes the router's IP address differs from the standard one. Refer to the sticker again and enter the address that is written on it.

How to enter the tp link router settings? In the first, main window of the router on the left, you need to select the network item, and from it the sub-item wan (global network).

Basic settings are usually specified in your agreement with the provider. Typically the following items are configured:

  • wan connection tipe: here you will have to enter your account information from the tariff plan;
  • wan connection mode.

Their meanings can be found in the annex to the contract. Let's save them. Next we configure the wireless connection:

  1. Here we independently come up with the name of our network, which is entered in the ssid field.
  2. Select your region in the appropriate field from the drop-down list.
  3. Save.

Protecting your local network

Never leave the standard login and password for Internet access. This is fraught with consequences that you cannot even imagine! The most harmless thing is that the attacker changes your password and you are left without the Internet.

We protect the network in the sub-item of the wireless menu called wireless security, in which you can:

  • disable wps;
  • enable filtering;
  • make your network invisible;
  • enable encryption;
  • set a strong password.

Can't configure the router yourself? Take advantage of specialized computer help. Need to create gmail account? Step by step instructions in this article.

By updating the drivers for your router model, you also increase the security of your network, because... new firmwares have new degrees of protection.

After reading these instructions, going into the settings of the tp-link router will not present any particular difficulties for you.

From home network, etc.. In order to go into the settings of the router, you first need to find out the IP address of the router, which will also be discussed. Also, this instruction will help you log into the web interface of your modem, access point, and other similar things. network equipment such popular manufacturers as D-Link, TP-Link, Asus, ZyXEL.

Are drivers needed?

No. You do not need to install any drivers anywhere to configure or use the router. If the kit includes a disc, it will only contain documentation. Drivers may be required for modems that connect to USB ports, but we are not talking about them now.

Default IP address, username and password

Now let’s talk directly about how to “log into the router” (as they like to say modern users). If the router is new, then its settings are factory settings. These settings are called "default" or default settings.Most manufacturers indicate the details directly on the router itself and designate them as Default settings: IP, username and password. Look for a sticker with this information on the bottom or back of the device:

If for some reason the sticker is missing or damaged, open the instructions and it will indicate what the default IP address, login and password are for your router. Instructions are always included. It can be either on a disk, or in the form of a paper brochure, or both.

Typically, by default, modern routers have the following settings:

IP address: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

Username: in most cases admin

Password: admin or empty

To enter the router settings, you need to type in the address bar browser http://<ай-пи адрес>. For example:

http://192.168.1.1

Enter the IP address in the address bar to enter the router settings

If the address is entered correctly, you will see a page asking you to enter your username and password.

Web interface login page D-Link router DIR-300

And this is what the authorization page for routers from TP-Link, the most popular in our latitudes, looks like:

Instead of an IP address, the sticker may indicate the host (site name) for logging into the web interface. For example, http://tplinkwifi.net or my.keenetic.net. Enter it into any of your browsers and you will be automatically redirected to the configuration page.

How to find out the router's IP address if the standard one does not fit

1. View the IP address in the network connection properties

Open Network and Sharing Center

Find your connection and click on the appropriate link

Click the Details button

In the window that opens you will see the line:

Default Gateway IPv4: 192.168.1.1

Router IP address

The address specified in this line is the IP address of the router through which your computer accesses the Internet. Now you can write http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your browser, then enter your username and password and get into the router settings.

If you cannot connect to the router (it does not give you an IP address over the cable or you do not know the security key wireless network), then all you have to do is reset the router settings and configure it again: i.e. set your passwords and settings.

Read about how to reset your router.

2. View the IP address of the router in the network environment

Go to the section Net.
In the section Network infrastructure find your router. Select Properties:

On the tab Network device The IP address of the device will be displayed, through which you can access its settings:

3. How to find out the IP address of a router using the command line

Enter the command ipconfig and press Enter:

In the column Main gateway The IP address of the router will be indicated, which is what you need. Now copy it, paste it into your browser's address bar and press Enter. You should then see your router's settings web interface.

The most common default router IP addresses and passwords

So, in this article we have described in detail all the setup steps and now you can correctly connect the equipment, find the address of its web interface and go to the router settings. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments.

First of all, you need to make sure that the physical connection of the router is correct: a cable must be connected to the WAN port (connector) of the router, through which data is transferred from the provider, and to LAN port- cable from a computer or laptop. Ports are identified by different colors, usually blue for WAN and yellow for LAN. WAN port On most TP-Link models there is only one, so it will be difficult to get confused.

Method one is simple

To control the router, a web interface is used, that is, all manipulations are performed in any browser. To get into the control panel of your TP-Link router, you need to know its connection address. To do this, on the box or the router itself you need to find a sticker (bottom or on the back side) where there is necessary information: IP: 192.168.0.1, Username: admin, Password: admin.

Important: data on various models may be different, but basically this only applies to the IP address. For example, on the TP-Link TL-WA701ND router the address is changed to 192.168.0.254.

Often instead digital address on TP-Link routers the site name (host) is indicated: http://tplinkwifi.net. When you type it, you will be automatically redirected to the login page.

The address or name found on the router must be typed in the address bar of the browser and press Enter. After this, in the window that opens, you need to enter your username and password.

Attention: after the first login, you must change at least the router password! Otherwise, attackers may get full access to the network.

If the entered data is correct, the router management window will open. You can start setting up.

Method two - using a smartphone or WI-FI

To get to the settings panel of your TP-Link router, you can use your smartphone, but only if Wi-Fi is already enabled in the router settings (this has already been done initial setup) or it is possible to activate it using an external switch, which is usually located on the rear panel.

From your smartphone you need to select the required network that the router distributes. If you are setting up for the first time, you can find it by the name of the network. In the standard version, its name usually begins with TP-Link_MAC, where there will be some numbers instead of MAC. Next, you need to launch a browser on your smartphone and enter the address or host name that was found in the first method. In the window that opens, you need to enter your username and password and click login.

To avoid connection errors, you need to deactivate mobile data transmission, otherwise the browser will try to “knock” on the Internet. Further manipulations are similar to those discussed above - entering the address, username and password in the browser of a smartphone (laptop, netbook, tablet, etc.).

TP-Link routers have enough universal panel management. Therefore, for all models of this router, one way to get into the settings is relevant.

Step 1. The first thing you need to do is connect the router to the power supply and to the computer. It connects to the computer either via a network cable or via Wi-Fi.

  1. To connect via Wi-Fi, simply turn on the router and use the computer to find new network. If the device is new, then the network will have standard name, starting with "TP-Link".
  2. Alternative option: connect special cable, included with the device network card computer and to the router via the yellow LAN connector.

Note! It is advisable to connect via a network cable. But if you just want to set a password and basic settings, you can also connect via Wi-Fi.

Step 2. Launch any browser. In it you need to go to the IP address of the router. It is indicated on a special sticker, which is usually attached to the bottom cover of the router. Typically for routers of this type this is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. The sticker also indicates the initial login and password.

Step 3. After navigating to the router’s IP, a dialog box pops up asking you to enter your username and password. In the vast majority of cases, these are preset “admin”, which are indicated on the sticker after the IP address.

Note! But if the router is not new and the data on it has been changed before, then you will have to remember and enter new login data. If you don't remember them, you'll have to reset them

Enter your username and password in the dialog box and click the “Login” button.

Step 4. If all previous steps have been completed correctly, the control panel will open. This is where everyone is possible settings router. Depending on the model, there are two options for the control panel interface.

Option 1.

Option 2.

Note! Both interfaces contain all available functionality. The only difference is in appearance.

Problems accessing router settings

Sometimes, after entering the IP address, the browser gives an error. The error text may differ depending on the browser used. There may be several reasons for this:

Most often, such problems arise due to small things. Therefore, before making any major reconfigurations, try the following:

  • repeat the operation using another browser to connect;
  • try another device. If you don’t have another computer or laptop, you can even use a tablet or phone;
  • check that the router is connected to the mains and that its power supply is working properly;
  • Try disabling programs that may interfere with the connection. For example, an antivirus or firewall.

Also, often the reason lies in a very simple mistake: the network cable is often connected to the blue connector. This is a WAN port intended for an Internet cable. The network cable, in turn, must be connected to the yellow LAN connector.

It is also worth checking the IP address connection settings. This can be done by going from your laptop to the properties of the connection through which you are connected. There you need to make sure that it is displayed automatic receipt IP and DNS.

How to reset your router?

If you need to return the router to factory settings, you do not need to connect to it via a network cable. The use of a computer is not required here in principle. Just take the router and find a hole on it with the inscription “Reset”. Inside it is a reset button.

Advice! To press it, you will have to get something thin into the hole. Typically a needle or pin is used for this.

It's not difficult at all. So there is no need to call a technician every time you need to change settings.
