Less useful content, incorrect advertising, spam. Less useful content, spam, excess advertising - Yandex filter

Hello! In October 2017, many webmasters encountered a filter - Low-useful content, spam, excess advertising. The trick is that this mark seems to appear randomly and quite en masse. What to do with this filter and how to get out from under it?

Signs of a filter for low-useful content, spam, excess advertising

To understand whether your site is included in the filter, you need to contact Yandex.Webmaster. This is located along the path Yandex.Webmaster – Diagnostics – Security and Violations – Site Problems “Fatal”. If there is a “black (actually red) mark” and you have not had filters before, then I congratulate you.

How it manifests itself:

  1. Label in the webmaster.
  2. There are no notifications about the filter by email or in the webmaster itself, which is very strange.
  3. Traffic sags the next day after applying the filter.
  4. The site's position is greatly reduced by 30-40.

Yandex glitch or filter?

Judging by the number of those affected by “Little useful content, spam, excess advertising” and the quality of the sites affected by it, it seems that Yandex has gone crazy. Tags are hung on very high-quality sites. In this case, you can do absolutely nothing and the site itself will come out from under the filter in an hour or a day.

I personally got a tag in Yandex.Webmaster yesterday (10/25/17) for 5 sites at once, and today (10/26/2017) the filter was removed for 2, and I didn’t even press the “I fixed everything” button.

After some googling, I found a thread on the search service, which was created on October 10, 2017, and where they talk about the first mass wave of departure under “Unuseful content, spam, excess advertising.” On October 22, the second wave began, even more massive.

Here are examples from forum members from the search:

And here are their versions of why sites can go under the filter and how they themselves got out, what actions they took:

As you can see, all this is quite similar to a glitch in Yandex algorithms. Sanctions work too chaotically and unpredictably.

What do you think about this? Have any of you reading this post had their websites covered by this delusion filter?

The site has shown steady growth for two years. I agree that it was intended as a doorway with optimization for a wide range of low-end keywords, but there were no sanctions. I was already contentedly rubbing my hands that I would soon be leaving for Thailand. How suddenly yesterday this damn “Spam” mark appeared unhelpful content" And so on.
I reduced spam by removing the key from many headers and did nothing else, sending the site for re-checking.
I'm waiting. Traffic fell by 2 times; if previously it was in the top for 80% of requests, now it is only 20%.

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 10:20

Didn’t you write to Plato?

Kintaro Oe 26.10.2017 10:20

I clicked on the "problems resolved" button

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 10:20

Clearly, I still wrote to Plato one by one, but received a standard reply, like we don’t know how the algorithms work, the filter could have been imposed for a combination of reasons.

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 10:33

Try writing to Plato again if it doesn’t work out on its own, I’ll wonder what they’ll answer. They just answer everyone differently.

Alla 26.10.2017 13:55

Do you have WP and Sahifa or different engines on all your sites? different topics?

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 14:06

Yes, Yandex is infuriating; its concept of a “quality website” is so vague that any website is at risk.

On the search they wrote that in general domains without links to sites and those fell under the filter; one of the screens has this phrase.

Hello, hello :) Cool topic.

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 14:06

Those that are all made from scratch on VP, those that I buy are different engines, but I still try to choose WordPress, but there is DLE, Joomla.
Themes are different everywhere.

Alla 26.10.2017 14:06

I mean those sites that fell under the filter. Are they on WP and Sahifa or are there different parameters?

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 14:06

Ahh, you’re looking for a pattern, but there it is)

4 on VP, 1 on Joomla.

Topics: 2 medicine, 1 marketing, 1 finance, 1 something else, I forgot. Two came out today - marketing and finance.

Alla 26.10.2017 14:20

It is clear that there is no pattern.....
What I do for my site:
1. Change the subject
2. I’ll add some goodies to the site for users, I wanted to do them before, but somehow I couldn’t find the time, and now it’s appeared
3. In principle, I will not touch the content (headings, contents), linking. The funny thing is that I got 35% of the traffic from Yandex and now I don’t want to lose the main traffic from Google because of this pseudo-filter.

Albert Aukhadullin 26.10.2017 14:34

maybe Yasha applied the filter because of this:

The correct adense code should be set like this:

Incorrect hyphenation in the first line and there is an error in this code:

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || ).push());

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 14:57

The buns are buzzing!

Considering that there was already less traffic from Yandex, I would not make any drastic changes in connection with the filter.

It’s worth waiting, maybe the site will come out on its own due to this misunderstanding, if it doesn’t work out in a week, you can try pressing the button - I fixed it. Wait a week and if that doesn’t help, write to Plato and fight with them.

In general, it seems to me that it is too early to take more serious steps.

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 14:57

So this blog doesn’t have a filter) So it’s definitely not related to the code in any way.

Boxio 26.10.2017 15:20

I don’t quite understand, but does Sahifa add any disadvantages in the eyes of Yandex?

Artyom Vysokov 26.10.2017 15:20

No, of course, they just apparently wanted to find a pattern. If all the sites that were sanctioned were on VP and with the theme Sakhif, then there would be reason to think that the problem is there.

seoonly.ru 26.10.2017 22:32

Yandex, why are you so harsh(((

Bzdi 27.10.2017 07:55

Artyom Vysokov 27.10.2017 07:55

No, they are not punished for this. And by this logic, you can then filter more than half of the Internet)

Novel 27.10.2017 08:41

5 sites crashed, 1 of them with https, so this version can be excluded, all projects are different, but all of them were united only by steel dicks and Bilan’s funeral

Alexander 27.10.2017 14:13

On October 26th, this filter arrived on 8 out of 10 sites, only two that had more than 20 ticks did not.

Artyom Vysokov 27.10.2017 14:13

I also don’t think there is a correlation with TIC. I've had sites with much larger TICs fly away.

By the way, I received an unsubscribe from one of the sites:

“Hello, Artyom!

We will look into this situation and inform you of the results. Thank you for your letter."

Alexander 27.10.2017 14:39

All those who flew away had Adsense, I don’t see anything else in common between them

VPSadm 28.10.2017 16:50

That's it. Suddenly a couple of sites went down, I couldn’t figure out what the fuck was until I came across your post. One of the sites was not added to the webmaster at all. Added - yes, this mark is worth it. I pressed the button, let's see. I didn’t do anything on the sites, because I don’t see the need to correct anything there, normal article writers, very much so useful to people info. I think that while Yandex is a complete idiot and there is still no traffic from it, it’s time to switch these sites to https.

Artyom Vysokov 02.11.2017 07:51

What about Google? If you switch to HTTPS, traffic from Google will also drop, albeit temporarily.

Artyom Vysokov 02.11.2017 07:51

Yes, and there are several waves of this event. Yesterday there was a third wave, another site fell under the filter.

Michael 04.11.2017 19:50

Yesterday there was another wave. In the VK group we discuss the reasons. The group is above the comment, you can take a look, most likely adsense is influencing it.

Semyon 04.11.2017 19:50

Hello, Tem.

I quoted you in my post. Regarding the post-Sanctions (that’s what I call them), I can say the following.

Personally, I have the opinion that Yandex’s algorithms are gradually getting out of control. The developers themselves can no longer always say what was “sunk” and why.

This amount of filter output only indicates the failure of the search engine as a whole. In common parlance this is also called “patching holes.”

The topic may be of interest to those who create their own websites on the Internet. Since I am not a professional in this matter, I warn you that everything written is purely my subjective opinion.

As you can see, a message about the site falling under the filter overtook me on the evening of November 10th. What was done on the site at that time: a domain with age (it was purchased for a blog, which for many reasons for several years did not move up to 10 pages), a design theme was installed and configured, WordPress was updated, the first articles were posted (10 pieces , all written by myself), AdSense advertising codes are placed.

How to get out from under the filter?

First of all, I decided to find out everything possible reasons"this disgrace." Yandex has provided a bunch of resources on this topic. From the stories of webmasters, I got the impression that those that fall under the filter often have low-useful content, spam, and an overabundance of advertising. common features. First of all, these are young, small resources (with a small number of pages), often starting content sites.

The dynamics of development of such sites are often at the forefront initial stage not great. You created a website, filled it out to the minimum and are waiting for semantics, ordered articles or the first traffic. Many people have several such blanks. Often the sites that came under the filter did not even have time to place advertising. It’s clear that Yandex probably judges based on many factors. But, in in this case, similar sites to early stage developments apparently have a maximum typical problems. If the site had at least 50 pages, the filter for less useful content would hardly have affected it.

What was decided to be corrected:

  1. Content (check unnecessary links, block unnecessary ones from indexing, correct texts if necessary).
  2. Spam (I honestly don’t even know what to write here - I don’t do cheating, I don’t do mailings, I checked the security settings just in case).
  3. Excessive advertising (I decided to check how advertising is shown to users of different devices).

I didn’t find anything unexpected regarding the first two points, I just blocked unnecessary links from indexing. But with adsense advertising I discovered an unpleasant moment.

AdSense and Yandex filter, unhelpful content, spam, excessive advertising.

On the laptop I was viewing the site from, there were a maximum of three ad blocks per page. Excessive advertising is unpleasant, and Google’s advertising code was installed more for the experience. To my grief, no one has clicked on the ad blocks yet ((

But once you looked into the web viewer, it turned out that users mobile devices They just see a bunch of ads. A verification code and a code for two ad blocks were placed on the site, but in the end, visitors (my apologies) saw about 8 ad blocks on the page. Realizing full well that this was exactly what Yandex could not tolerate, it decided to completely remove the advertising code for the time being. It was easy, but as it turned out, the Adsense advertising code was removed, but the advertisement was still shown!

Here I had to think a lot. I turned to the adsense community where they explained to me that it is worthwhile to better understand the creation of advertising blocks, since the verification code itself is an advertising code and adds advertising blocks to the site.

As a result, advertising on the site was transferred to shortcodes, and excess advertising was removed. On the same day, the webmaster indicated that the violations had been eliminated, after which he began to wait for the filter to be removed. This happened within the first week and as a result, the site had to be restored to the search results within 30 days. Thirty days have passed and it looks like traffic from Yandex is slowly returning.

My advice to those whose sites have fallen under the filter of less useful content:

1. Check the content. Write original texts, tell Yandex about this through the webmaster. Don't overuse links. Update the site regularly, at least at first. 2. Don't use gray methods promotion. 3. Carefully check the advertisements you place. Conclusion - new filter Yandex, it turned out to be rather useful to me. Without it, it is unlikely that problems with advertising would have been discovered promptly.

The algorithm takes into account the parameters of non-unique material, spam and large quantity advertisements. He can be compared to a strict police officer, closely monitoring the safety and comfort of citizens.

Yandex: unhelpful content, spam, excess advertising - signs of sanctions

Signs that a site is under a filter:

  • Message to Webmaster.
  • No email alerts.
  • Quickly stop indexing.
  • Positions sank low for some queries.
  • Traffic has decreased.

Reasons for the measures imposed

Webmaster does not indicate the reasons: you will have to look for problems to resolve yourself.

Let's talk about some of them.

Empty domain or young project

Sites with a small, insufficient amount of information are subject to sanctions, therefore search system regards them as of little use to the visitor and removes them from the search. The problem can be solved by adding material. Then send it for rechecking.

Less useful content

This parameter shows how competitive the web resource is: is it interesting for visitors to read the posted content or do they prefer other sources? If a web project does not stand up to the competition, then the reason may be technical or marketing problems: the text is cut off or written in an uninteresting way. Measures are also imposed on non-unique texts, because there are already good and comprehensive answers to a particular question.

Lots of advertising

It may interfere with viewing information. Users leave quickly, which signals to the search engine that the site is not in demand.

Low-visited pages

Because of them, you can get a filter, despite the presence of sections with excellent behavioral factors. Rework irrelevant articles or delete them completely.

Spam, overspam, over-optimization. Spam comments are also banned.

If the site comes under a filter

Yandex developers advise following the following tips:

  • Consider:

Goals.
- The audience.
- Landing page, where visitors will come from a search.
- Requests for which the project will be promoted.
- Questions to which the user will receive answers.

  • Check the amount of advertising.
  • Post useful and informative articles.
  • Post ready-made web projects. Collect the material in advance so as not to immediately fall under the measures.
  • Check for technical problems. Pages from technical information are also not useful, for example with login data for your personal account.
  • Stay competitive, don't stop developing and promoting. And to do this, you focus on users.

Don’t rush to blame Yandex: the web resource is always good for developers. Conduct a full audit: check the information content, design, structure, usability. Work out the kinks and you'll become a stronger competitor.

  1. Reduce spam in articles, especially on home page.
  2. Add images.
  3. Maximize your content's uniqueness by reviewing and correcting low-scoring articles.
  4. Structure your headings in descending order, not in a chaotic order.
  5. Provide 301 redirects to images.
  6. Combine LSI techniques with SEO: use additional requests along with key phrases.
  7. Reduce the quantity advertising banners up to 2-3. If the project is young, first place it to the side of the text, do not rush to insert it in the middle.
  8. Set up thematic restrictions on advertised ads.
  9. Check headers for morphology and spam.
  10. Edit meta tags – description, title, and alt attribute– for images.

Life after the filter

The search engine team advises to take the notification as a signal of a serious shortcoming and guarantees that sanctions will be lifted after eliminating the set of problems.

The page may not crash for all search queries. The developers explain this by low competition and usefulness of information compared to others.

Contact technical support first: if measures are applied accidentally, the violation will soon be removed without your participation. After this, no additional sanctions will be imposed, and the previous traffic will return.

So far, the Yandex filter about spam, unhelpful content and excessive advertising is not entirely clear to developers and owners: many complaints are related to the work of high-quality web resources. If your project is subject to sanctions, this is a reason to make it even stronger and more competitive. Or write to technical support for double check. According to the developers, it takes place regularly, which explains the disappearance of measures without action on the part of webmasters.

How I solved the problem with the Yandex filter for unhelpful content, spam, and excess advertising. Removing such a sanction from Yandex is a rather complex and lengthy process. I described some recommendations in my last article. Describing general methods, to determine search engine sanctions and general initial actions. Which the user must perform at the initial stage of dealing with this unpleasant consequence.

It's time to combine all the actions into a sequence and describe the entire process of getting out of search engine sanctions.

The content of the article:

Less useful content, spam, excess advertising - we perform a full site audit

Many believe that it is necessary to fight with the listed Yandex filters. In reality, everything looks completely opposite. The problems may be deeper than meets the eye. To identify obvious problems in the structure of pages, as well as identify gross mistakes in the content. It is important to perform a high-quality audit of all site content. This will allow us to identify the set of most serious mistakes that need to be fixed first.

In this case, the Saitreport service helped me significantly ( Website Report - diagnostics and audit). Let's say your site is young and contains a small number of pages. Then you can perform a free audit of 25 pages. For scanning and diagnostics more pages, purchase additional option. I used this service several times, paying only 190 rubles for a site audit. This is not a lot of money compared to the consequences of a search engine filter.

Let's not get hung up on the extensive functionality of the service; we need to take into account the following items:

  • Component of the content on the site, unique and non-canonical pages.
  • A large number: headings of the same type, highlighting words and phrases, errors in text and HTML.
  • Great amount internal links there is also significant nesting on the site. Example of my audit: Number of links: 7 545 Deepening up to: 6th level of accessibility from the starting one.
  • There are significant page redirects - circular links.

This is the minimum you should pay attention to in order to complete further work. We have sorted out the site audit, if you have any questions, write in the comments. Let's continue.

Excessive advertising on the site - more than three ad blocks

This problem is quite easy to solve. I purchased paid template themes with the function of inserting advertisements. So the code advertising block not contained in the text of the article.

Yandex text filters: Spam, Prespam, Over-optimization how to solve this problem

Dealing with this sanction is difficult, or rather very long and tedious. How to solve this problem - an audit will help you understand some of the reasons for this filter (sanction).

Solving the text filter problem:

  1. Check all articles for spam text. Spam levels should range from 49% to 55% no more. This indicator is quite favorable, less is better.
  2. Content specific words and phrases in the text. Use a keyword or query no more than 3-4 times. It is not worth repeating one word more than 10 times.
  3. Avoid a lot of highlighting in the text. In this case, variety will help, some meaningful words indicate in italics.

Based personal experience, I advise you to adhere to the following criteria and actions:

  • Use the LSI technique in combination with SEO. Use additional search queries in combination with keywords. Try to create a cloud of thematic text surrounded by the main key. There is no point in pushing requests everywhere; implement them only where appropriate.
  • Impact visitors with images, visualize content elements (icons, badges, etc.).
  • Simplify the text, write only to the point, revealing the main question of the topic at hand.
  • The most optimal criteria for an article: at least 5000 characters, spam 48%-53%, uniqueness 92%-100%, water in the text 12%-16%
  • Check the main page for spam as well, it is a priority for indexing. If there is a problem, reduce the number of articles displayed on the main page of the site.

These are the most basic actions for which you will receive a favorable result.

Filter for less useful content or non-unique content on the site

Sanctions for unhelpful content are quite relevant and apply to many sites. Not many webmasters know how to deal with unhelpful articles and images. Everything is very simple:

  • The best thing to do would be to check all articles for uniqueness. Then correcting texts with poor performance.
  • Enter all alt, metakeywords, description, this also applies to images.
  • The most important thing with sanctions of this kind is to indicate 301 redirects to all images. After further correction of the nesting of the image in the text. Indicating not image attachment pages, but the addresses of the media file or without a link at all.

I talked about the most important actions that affect solving the problem with the Yandex filter for unhelpful content, spam, and excess advertising. Having followed all these recommendations, the Yandex search engine will remove such sanctions from the site in a month.

In my case, the withdrawal occurred after 1 month 14 days. All of the site’s positions for queries have been restored, many are in the top 5, 10, 20, and 50. Single articles occupy the first 3 top positions search results. The total number of requests on the site in Google is more than 2000, Yandex is more than 2500. About additional actions which I performed I will tell in the next article.

Post last modified: January 27, 2018

Hello everyone! It’s been seven months since I’ve written anything, and the thing is that my site came under a filter. I go to the Yandex Webmaster “diagnostics” and see fatal error on my resource - violations and threats on the site, and below under this terrible heading it is written: unhelpful content, spam, excess advertising. It is clear that first we need to fix this problem, and only then think about writing new articles.

How to fix a fatal error on a website

In Webmaster Yandex, I read what could cause this error, and made a hasty conclusion - the site came under. And for some reason I ignored the fact that there were technical problems on the site, because I was sure that the whole problem was precisely because of this filter, which could not be checked anywhere and in any way.

In this regard, the first thing I did was start looking for problematic ones, of which there were many. I also wrote to Yandex, Platon Shchukin, to tell me what was wrong with my site. Real advice they didn’t give it to me, so I decided to put everything off until later, as often happens to me.

A few months later I took up the site again, but decided to fix technical problems. I connected the certificate, transferred the site from HTTP to HTTPS, removed some errors from the site pages and, it would seem, everything was fine, but it was not so. When I go to the site, the mouse wheel stops working; in principle, it still doesn’t work. Now, in order to scroll the page up or down, you need to move the slider on the right, which is not very convenient, that is, completely inconvenient.

I turned to templatemonster support for help, where I purchased the template. The problem was quickly fixed for me, and the blog started working properly. But later I noticed that there were external links in old articles that I never added. I had to reinstall the site from backup copy, because it is not known how many of these links the support team added.

And now about seven months have passed, I decided to write to Platon Shchukin again so that they could tell me what really needs to be corrected. Literally a couple of days later they answered me:

I received this letter on January 19, i.e., on the day of the Orthodox holiday of Epiphany, and now the site traffic is only about 200 people, but it’s better than nothing. Before this, traffic only came from YouTube channel. Next, I hope the counter's performance will improve.

As it turned out, it was not a matter of unhelpful content, spam, or excess advertising, but technical problems, which could be corrected in one week, or a little more, but definitely not seven months.

But these seven months were not in vain. I completed training in goods with China, and also studied Ya.Direct. I have already started working with China, but I still need to practice with Ya.Direct.

I took training in business with China from Alexander Fedyaev, about whom I will write a review soon. You will find out whether it is worth studying with him or not. That's all, stay healthy.
