We restore iPhone firmware on our own. The firmware on the iPhone or “apple, USB cable and iTunes icon” has crashed

Friends, cases of appearance USB cable and iTunes icon on the screen of iPhone phones, iPad tablets and iPods are quite common. In general, it is generally accepted that if a cord and an icon in the form of the iTunes program logo appear on the black display of one of these devices, this means that Recovery Mode is running. But not everyone knows that cable and iTunes, in addition to Recovery Mode, can mean Recovery Loop, which is different from recovery mode.

In order for you to be able to make an accurate diagnosis and determine the mode in which your iPhone (or other device) displaying the USB cable and iTunes is located, we will describe the results of our research acquired as a result of using these mobile Apple devices. And maybe our meager knowledge will help someone solve their problem and restore the operation of their phone or tablet.

Recovery mode - normal

The iPhone or iPad is entered into normal recovery mode using simple steps, the sequence of these steps is described here - “”. To exit normal Recovery Mode, we simply left the iPhone for a while, it rebooted itself and exited recovery mode. To immediately exit recovery mode (so as not to wait), we simply force it. It turns out that it is quite easy to exit the normal recovery mode, unlike others, by rebooting.

Recovery loop mode - obedient

There are cases that after a forced reboot, which is used to exit the normal recovery mode, the iPhone still continues to load a black screen on which we see the cord and iTunes again and again. This situation means that the iPhone is in the so-called Recovery Loop mode. The iTunes program very often puts a phone or tablet into this mode. Getting into the Recovery Loop can happen for various reasons, for example, as a result of or restoring the iOS firmware. A recovery loop can occur as a result of a software, hardware or household failure (for example, a cable was accidentally pulled out), once we ourselves were trying to downgrade the iOS firmware version from 7 to 6.

Why did we add the word “Obedient” in the subtitle? Yes, because it is still possible to exit the obedient recovery loop and return the iPhone to a working state without losing information, for this we used, some users had difficulties with TinyUmbrella, and we found a more convenient way to exit the Recovery Loop using the program. There are other programs for getting out of the loop - iReb and RecBoot.

Recovery loop mode is not obedient

If your iPhone or iPad gets into an unruly Recovery Loop, then, as a rule, not only is a forced reboot powerless, but redsn0w, iReb, TinyUmbrella and RecBoot programs also cannot get the iPhone out of the recovery loop. As a result of using the programs mentioned above, the iPhone continues to show the USB cable and the iTunes logo after rebooting. In this case, we were unable to avoid the loss of information stored in the iPhone, but it’s good if you did too.

If you have caught a naughty recovery loop, then all that remains is to connect your iPhone to iTuens and try to flash it. Sometimes it is not possible to flash the phone in this mode, then they try to flash it again. As a result of flashing the iPhone firmware, it erases all the information we did earlier. It happens that after flashing an iPhone or iPad you are asked to enter someone’s Apple ID and password, but that’s a completely different story.

Reading time: 4 minutes

One of the most annoying problems that happen to Apple smartphones is that the iPhone does not boot beyond the apple.

When you try to turn on the phone, the company logo appears on the screen, but the system does not start. The error can appear on any model: iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 7.

Reasons why iPhone loads further than Apple

  • Making changes to the file system.
  • Incompatibility of tweaks installed from Cydia.
  • Problems with custom firmware.
  • Phone hardware damage.

The problem is typical for jailbroken iPhones. Usually, to fix it, it is enough to restore the device, but there are other ways.

If the iPhone does not boot, the apple is on fire, first of all try to restore the device's functionality by performing a hard reboot - Hard Reset.

Press Home and Power (on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, use the Volume Down key instead of Home). Hold them until the device turns on. If a hard reboot does not lead to anything, move on to another method - system recovery.

iPhone recovery

The main disadvantage of recovery is the removal of settings and content. If you recently made a backup copy, then the losses will be minimal, but you still won’t be able to do without them - a working phone is more important. Since you are dealing with a software error, to fix it you need to put your phone in DFU mode.

  1. Connect your iPhone to your PC and launch iTunes.
  2. Press Power and Home, hold for 10 seconds.
  3. Release Power for a count of 10. Continue holding the Home button.

The screen will remain dark, but iTunes will notify you that your device is in recovery mode. Click "Restore iPhone" to begin fixing the error and updating the system.

After reinstallation, iTunes will offer to return the deleted information from the backup or set up the smartphone as new. Select the appropriate option, activate the iPhone, make sure that the boot problem is fixed, and the phone no longer freezes on the apple, but starts the operating system normally.

Removing tweaks

If you don't want to back up your data and restore your system, try clearing your phone of the latest tweaks installed or checking its file system.

If the iPhone does not boot, the apple is on fire, the reason for this may be the incompatibility of tweaks installed from Cydia. To test your hypothesis, try running your smartphone without tweaks. For that:

  1. Turn off your iPhone.
  2. Hold down the volume up key.
  3. Turn on your device while continuing to hold the Volume Up key.

If the iPhone boots normally in this mode, then you should get rid of the tweaks that were installed immediately before problems with loading the system appeared. Remove the component that is interfering with operation, and the system will begin to function smoothly again.

Lately, I've been seeing more and more complaints about unsuccessful updating of iPhones using iTunes. Often, such an update leads to a complete crash of the firmware and the phone not working. The victims have no choice but to grab their phone and wallet and go to the nearest service center, where for a very decent amount a specialist with a very thoughtful look will carry out the “very difficult” work of restoring the iPhone firmware. At the same time, not many people know that thanks to the foresight of Apple developers, restoring the firmware can be done at home and this procedure will take very little time.

The firmware on the iPhone or “apple, USB cable and iTunes icon” has crashed.

There are three main signs that the firmware on your phone is broken or damaged:
1. The iPhone does not turn on and you see (oddly enough) only a black screen on the screen.
2. The phone can be turned on, but the screen only shows the Apple logo and does not respond to anything.
3. The phone turns on, but the screen shows a USB cable and an iTunes icon.

Before proceeding further, carefully inspect your phone. Perhaps the malfunction is caused by physical damage to the device, in which case the firmware will not help you. If your pet looks great and there are no holes in it from enemy bullets, you can connect it to your computer using a USB cable.

ATTENTION! Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. .

After connecting the cord, you need to simultaneously hold down the “Power” and “Home” buttons for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, release the "Power" button, but continue to hold the "Home" button.

Your computer should begin to detect the phone, which in turn means that the phone is alive and the firmware needs to be restored.

Restoring iPhone firmware

Before starting the firmware procedure, you must wait until the phone is fully detected by the computer. After this, you need to launch iTunes, which in turn will complain that the phone is in recovery mode.

All you need to do is click the “Restore” button and agree to the terms.

After this, you just have to wait until the firmware is downloaded to the iPhone and the recovery process is completed, however, iTunes will periodically notify you about this. In addition, the progress of the firmware will be shown on the phone screen.

After completing the firmware, your phone will automatically turn on. After this, you need to go to “Settings” -> “General” -> “Reset” -> “Reset all settings”.

It is worth adding that if you are the proud owner of an unofficially unlocked phone, then with a high degree of probability you may receive the following message:

Unfortunately, this is where the tricks up my sleeve are over, and the iPhone 4/4S with modems 4.12.01/2.0.12 is, in principle, impossible to unlock software. All that remains is to either contact the operator for an official unlock, or use the Gevey Sim kit, but that’s a completely different story.
