Wi fi forgot the password for my wifi. We intercept traffic and decrypt the WiFi password

Nowadays, wireless technology WiFi connection, which allows you to create home networks, has deeply entered into daily life of people. This is very convenient way combine home devices such as a laptop, smartphone, tablet, desktop PC, and so on into one group with access to global network. However, it very often happens that the user has forgotten. This is exactly what we're talking about we'll talk in this article. So, what to do if you forgot your WiFi password in Windows XP?

How to find out the key to a wireless connection

It is worth noting that the system remembers all data, including about home groups, in particular all codes and ciphers. This means that if the laptop was connected to home group with help wireless connection, then the key is saved and is no longer required for subsequent connections - the connection occurs automatically.

There are several ways to find out the password for your WiFi network on Windows XP:

  • Use special software;
  • Enter the router settings using a cable connection;
  • View the saved key in the wireless connection settings.

These are the three simplest methods. Of course, there are other methods, but they are more complex and require a lot of time and knowledge. Therefore, we will further analyze these three methods.

You can also find out the password if you have the device on Android, you can learn about this method by following this link.

How to enter router settings using a cable connection

This is one of the most simple methods, How . However, it's worth noting that you must have access to a router to do this. In other words, it must be located indoors, since it must be connected to it using an Internet cable.

So, in order to connect to the router using a cable, you should insert the wire into one of the free ports. As a rule, the router has 4 connectors for connecting a LAN cable. After this, the computer automatically becomes a member of the homegroup and gains access to the router settings.

After this, to enter the device settings, you should enter 192.168.0.1 in any browser (Opera, Mozilla, Chrome, etc.) in the address bar. This address may be different; it is usually indicated on the router box and in the instructions. In addition, the address can be indicated on the router itself.

After entering the address, the system will ask you to enter your login and code to enter the settings.

Initially, the manufacturer sets login admin, password admin. However, users can change their login information at their discretion. Therefore, if you have not changed anything, then enter the login - admin, password - admin. If you changed it, then enter your data. If you do not know the necessary data, then the router has a button to reset all data, which we will discuss below.

How to find out the WiFi key in Windows OS

This method is the answer to the question of how to view the WiFi password on Windows XP. As in the previous case, this method is only possible if your computer was previously connected to an existing homegroup using a wireless connection.

To do this, you should go to the control panel and find the “Wizard” item. wireless network" After launching the Wireless Network Wizard, a settings window will appear in which you need to check the box in the “Add new computers and devices” section. Next, click “Continue”.

After that, click “Install a network manually” and click “Next”. In the window that appears, you will see a “Print network settings” button. After clicking this button, a notepad will launch, which displays all the parameters of the existing wireless network. Here you need to find the line “Network key (WEPWPA key)”. This is the key to wireless connectivity.

Find out the WiFi key using the Wireless Key View program

This is the easiest and fastest way to find out the WiFi password in Windows XP. Moreover, the program itself is free, it is easy to find and download on the Internet. You don't even need to install it. Just download the archive and unpack it.

After launch, the program automatically scans the system and detects the network to which the computer is connected. At the same time, it automatically displays all the wireless connection data, including the WiFi key. In the program window we are interested in the “Key ASCII” section - this is the required password.

There are cases where you cannot find out the WiFi password in Windows XP using any of the methods, or the computer has never been connected to the network. In this case, each router has a reset button. However, it is worth remembering that when you press it, all settings are reset and the router needs to be rebuilt, and not everyone can do this. Therefore, such a reset should only be done as a last resort.

Most of the users are quite strongly convinced that WPA encryption can be considered a bulletproof type for all types of attacks, however, the manufacturers of many routers still leave it active WPS function with code authentication. This eight-digit password is designed so that an attacker only needs to guess the first seven characters, with the first four and last three usually being guessed separately, giving a total of eleven thousand code combinations. In practice, its selection is very simple.

Debriefing

So, if we are looking for an answer to a question from a neighbor’s WiFi, then we should stock up on the following tools: BackTrack 5 Live CD, a computer with wireless adapter And DVD drive, wireless network with WPA encryption, active WPS. Naturally, you should be patient.

Basic work process

IN the specified program includes the Reaver utility, which exploits the vulnerability of the same WPS. To find out your neighbor's WiFi password, you will need to collect certain information. You must know the name of the interface you are using wireless card, as well as the BSSID of the router that will be hacked. You will need to set your wireless card to monitor mode. After starting the terminal, enter the command: iwconfig, and then press enter. If you have only one wireless card, its name will most likely be wlan0. In the future, if there are several cards, you will be required to replace this value with an option that corresponds to reality.

Now network adapter can be switched to monitor mode by entering the command airmon-ng start wlan0. Among all the other information that you have already memorized, you should also pay attention to the name of the monitoring mode interface, this moment this is the mon0 parameter. It's time to determine the BSSID of the router that is being attacked; for this, use the airodump-ng wlan0 command or its alternative, if necessary, airodump-ng mon. Since we are talking about how to find out the password from your neighbor’s WiFi, after the desired network appears in the list, you should press Ctrl+C to stop updating the list. Now you have to copy the BSSID and then get to the real stuff.

In the terminal, you must enter the command: reaver -i moninterface -b bssid -vv, where the moninterface parameter is responsible for the name of the monitoring mode interface, and bssid is the BSSID of the router you are interested in. Since we are talking about how to find out WiFi password neighbor, it is worth noting that after entering the specified command you can go about your business, since the utility sometimes takes up to 10 hours to pick up required code. If everything goes well, you will see the code and password for the router.

Protection

Since at any moment you yourself can become the neighbor whose network someone wants to connect to, it’s worth knowing about protection methods. You should always disable WPS in If you also install MAC filters, then any foreign devices will not be able to gain access to connect to your network at all. However, an attacker can gain access to the list of allowed addresses and then spoof it with a new one.

How to find out your neighbor's WiFi password so you can use his access

It is worth understanding how such a network works in order to understand how different methods hacking Everyone knows that the distribution wireless internet produced by routers. If you want to connect to a network, a permission request is sent to the router, it checks passwords, deciding whether to connect you or not. After the user is connected to the network, the exchange of information packets will still continue. They contain the network password, as well as information about what actions the user performs on the Internet.

Easy way

If we talk about how to find out the password WiFi networks, then one of the ways here is to intercept and decrypt packets, from which the same password will then be extracted. This method is quite effective, but you will need the skills and knowledge of a hacker programmer, or you can download a special hacking program that intercepts packets. There is also a very simple answer to your neighbor’s question - a simple search of passwords. To do this, launch a special program to crack a password using this method, enter the network of interest and wait. Such a program will implement a search of all possible password combinations. The disadvantages inherent in this option are that the process is sometimes very fast and sometimes takes a very long time.

Hacking Wi-Fi networks

Every laptop has wireless module, which can detect quite a few Wi-Fi networks, but they are usually under reliable protection as a password. And here the question quite naturally arises, how to find out the password of a WiFi router?

To begin with, you can use the most “stupid” options, which also sometimes work. Try a standard password combination, that is, sequentially numbers from 1 to 8 or from 0 to 7, or reverse order. If this helps, then it turns out that your neighbors are not very prudent. If not, then you can proceed further. You can perform the same search for passwords, but use a program for this.

Forgot your password? This also happens

Users are not always interested in at someone else’s expense; sometimes there is a need to determine the very same set of characters for their router. So, if you are not interested in how to find out your neighbor’s WiFi password because you forgot your own, then you should do this. You must log into the Network and Sharing Center. In the left column of the window, click on manage wireless networks. Now you will see a list of devices to which this computer connected via WiFi. You must call the properties of the router you need. Now you should go to the security tab. In the key area you will see asterisks, behind which your password is hidden. To see the characters, you need to check the box for displaying entered characters. This is your password.

Now you know not only how to find out the password from Neighbor's Wifi, but also about ways to protect your router from intruders, as well as a method for determining your own forgotten password.

How to find out the password for your wifi connections This question is asked by many users who use the Internet.

Today I will show you the basic ways and techniques on how you can view the Wi-Fi password on a computer with the Windows 10 operating system.

We look at the Wi-Fi connection password

Let's say a master came to you, set up the Internet, said and wrote down the Internet password on a piece of paper and gave it to you, but you forgot it and lost the piece of paper. What to do in this case? Exist different ways solutions to the problem that has arisen, let's consider some of them. This method will work if you are already connected to the network via Wi-Fi or cable.

A short outline of our review:

  • Router (modem) settings
  • Network management
  • Command line
  • Viewers
  • Reset

Go to the router settings

I will give an example on three devices that I have D-Link DSL-2640U, ZyXEL P-660HTW EE and TP-Link TL-WR741ND(RU). To access the device, look at the information behind it, mainly by IP addresses 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1, but there are others, for example, Billion - 192.168.1.254.

I'll start with D-Link. Let's look at back, type in the address bar of the browser the IP address 192.168.1.1, login and password “admin”.

Afterwards we go to Wi-Fi settings, security and look at the Wi-Fi code - the PSK encryption key.

The Zyuksel modem has the same IP address as Dlink, only the password is 1234 (factory default).

Go to Advanced Setup tab Wireless Lan, where it says Key is your security key.

Tplink has the same as Dlink, only the IP address differs by one number 192.168.0.1, the login and password are the same admin.

Login to the router, go to Wireless Mode > Security wireless mode. We look at the wi fi password - WEP, WPA/WPA2 - Enterprise or WPA-Personal/WPA2-Personal (Recommended). For me this is the last third item - the PSK password.

If you cannot enter the router settings, you can reset it to factory settings and configure it again. I’ll write more about this below.

Network and Internet settings

The second way to find out the wi fi key is to look at it in the network and internet settings. Near the date and time in the lower right corner of the desktop, click on the antenna - Internet access.

A list of wireless networks that my adapter can detect opens. Click on network and internet settings.

Let's go down, go to the network control center and shared access.

We find connections - go to the wireless network, for me it’s Beeline, you can have your own.

Let's go to the properties of our wireless network.

Switch to the security tab, check the box next to display entered characters.

The Beeline wireless network security key appears.

You can open the Network and Sharing Center in alternative ways.

Click right click mouse on the antenna near the date and time, go to the control center.

Network and Internet tab > View network status and tasks.

Start menu > Settings > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.

Launch the Run window using the keyboard shortcut “Win + R” and enter the command:

"control /name Microsoft.NetworkAndSharingCenter"

There are, of course, other ways to open a control center, I have listed the main ones.

Launch the command line

It is possible to view the Wi-Fi code on the command line. Open it or Windows PowerShell it can be done in different ways.

I prefer to execute the window via “Win + R”, write the command “cmd”.

Windows Search (Magnifying Glass) - Command Line (Desktop).

Right-click on the Start Menu and open Windows PowerShell or Windows PowerShell (Administrator).

The shell starts, in which we enter the command: “netsh wlan show profiles”, press Enter.

Profiles are displayed group policy and user profiles. I have Beeline, you will have yours. Select the one that is currently in use (working). Next we write the text:

"netsh wlan show profiles name=profile_name key=clear"

Instead of the profile name, enter the name of your wireless network.

Additional programs

If conventional methods didn't help you, then I suggest you use it additional funds To view wifi passwords, I will give an example of three.

WiFi Password Decryptor

This free program to display the Wi-Fi keys that have been used on your computer. I had to download an image from a website on the Internet, mount it, there was a link to the program, downloaded the archive, unzipped it, installed the program.

When installing, it is better to remove all unnecessary checkboxes, except for the agreement. She is on English language, it's easy to understand. A shortcut appears on the desktop, go to it, click Start Recovery, find the desired network and look at Password Key.

Wireless Key View

Uploading the archive for your operating room windows system 32 or 64 bits.

Unzip it, run the WirelessKeyView file and look at Key (Ascii).

WiFi Password Revealer

An icon appears on the desktop, launch it, indicate your wireless network adapter, click on the plus sign next to it. Where Password is the security key of your network.

Reset

If all of the above methods for viewing your password do not work for you, then you can reset the settings of your network device, that is, return the router to factory settings.

Before resetting the modem to default settings, make sure that you know the Internet login and password issued by your provider, so you can independently configure the router to work on the Internet. All changes made will be lost. If you are not confident in your abilities, then there is a chance to be left without the Internet at all.

To reset the router to factory settings, you need to press the Reset button and hold it for about a minute with the device's power on. Then turn off and turn on the router and configure it to suit your needs.

If you have access to the device, you can try to reboot it from the inside using the internal tools. I’ll give an example on my Tplink network device. Open the browser > enter the IP device > go to it > System tools > Factory settings > Restore.

Click this button to reset all device settings to default values.

Here's some factory reset help you need to know before restoring.

We are looking for the reset button on TP-Link modem. It is located on the back left, near the power cord input and the on/off button.

The reset button on the ZyXEL is located in the middle of the back, between Power and network outputs(Lan).

At D-Link, reset button, is located in the same back in the middle, like Zuxel’s between Lan and Power, only on the other side.

What to do if nothing helps? If all of the above information did not help you, then I recommend calling a specialist or seeking help from a computer service center. They should help you there.

I suggest watching a short video tutorial of our article topic.

In custody

Today we have discussed five methods on how to find out the password for your wifi using: modem settings; network and sharing control center; command line or Windows Power Shell; special programs and reset network devices to factory settings.

  • Here we do everything the same as described in the first method in the last paragraph.

How to find out the Wi-Fi password - method No. 3

This method allows you to view the password in the settings of the Wi-Fi router. This method is suitable if the router is TP-Link.

  • Open any browser. Enter 192.168.0.1 in the search field. or 192.168.1.1. and press enter.
  • Let's get into the settings. Next you are prompted to enter your username and password; if nothing has been changed before, then these are admin and admin.
  • In the settings window, on the left go to the Wireless tab, and then to Wireless Security
  • Here we find a field called Wireless Password, it will contain symbols and numbers, this is the Wi-Fi password.

There are at least three ways to find out the Wi-Fi password. Which one to use depends on the purpose and level of computer use. The first method is the simplest and fastest, allowing you to obtain the information of interest in a matter of seconds.

Hello dear readers! In this article we will figure out how to find out the Wi-Fi password. Nowadays, more and more devices that we use in everyday life have built-in means for accessing the Internet. To organize shared access to a global network of smartphones, laptops, media players, televisions and other equipment, it is necessary to combine all devices into a single network.

Organizing such a network is quite difficult and requires certain knowledge, so many users trust this process to friends, acquaintances or specialists. It often happens that, after finishing work, specialists do not leave any configuration data, unless of course they are specifically asked about it. Some do not give this data because they want you to call him next time, or they may simply forget or consider it unnecessary. On initial stage There is no particular need to know this data - everything works the way it is, the task is completed and there is no desire to bother one’s head with unnecessary details. But over time, new devices appear that would also be nice to connect to the network, and here the question arises - how to find out your Wi-Fi password.

Attention! If you call a specialist who sets up Wi-Fi, be sure to ask him for the password and write it down so you don’t forget.

I recently read somewhere that according to statistics, more than half of all users use wireless connection to the Internet, which implies the presence of a special device called a router. This is a device that identifies all devices on the network and their shared access to the Internet. One of the main signs by which a router allows “its” users to pass is the password. It is set for the entire network and is checked with every connection request. Therefore, if the password is not known, then in order to carry out any actions related to changing existing settings or registering new devices, it is necessary to recover it. You can, of course, call the person who set up Wi-Fi again, but this will require time and money. So we come to the very topic of the article;).

How to find out the Wi-Fi password from a computer

If there is at least one computer on which a connection to a wireless network is already configured and working, then finding out the Wi-Fi password is quite simple. The following will show how to do this for a device running Windows 7, for others operating systems the process will be almost exactly the same.

So, go to “Start”, click “Control Panel”. Next, select “Network and Sharing Center”, where information and settings for local network connections opens.

You can also get here more in a fast way. To do this, find the local or wireless network icon in the tray and right-click. A context menu of two items will appear; we need to select “Network and Sharing Center”. This method I think it’s much simpler because you don’t need to make unnecessary mouse movements.
Now on the left side of the screen, click on “Manage wireless networks” (if this item is not there, read on):

Next, select the network whose password we want to know, call up the context menu by right-clicking and select “Properties”.

In the window that opens, go to the “Security” tab. To see the password, check the “Display entered characters” checkbox. You can get to these settings faster by left-clicking on the tray icon and right-clicking on the connection for which you need to find out the password. A context menu will appear, click “Properties”.

Now opposite the “Network security key” we see the Wi-Fi password. It remains to register it in necessary devices and they will have Internet access.

If “Manage wireless networks” is missing, then you need to go to “Change adapter settings”.

Now find the wireless connection through which you connect to your router, right-click on it and select “Status”.

How to find out or change your wi-fi password on a router

If connected via Wi-Fi computers no, you can change the password in the router settings. We will consider this process at Wi-Fi example Huawei router HG530. To enter the control menu, in the browser line, type the address 192.168.1.1 (in other models this value may be different, if this does not work, then look at the instructions).

If you do not know the IP address of your router, then you can find it on a computer that has Internet access through this router. So, we have this computer, now we left-click on the network and click “Network and Sharing Center” (I showed another way to get into the network management settings).

On the left, click “Change adapter settings.”

Now you need to right-click on the connection that is used to access the Internet. In my case, I am currently using Wi-Fi, which means I need “Wireless network connection" IN context menu click “Status”.

In the window that opens, click “Information...”.

In this window you need to find the line “Default gateway IPv4”. Exactly, what is to the right is the IP address of the router that we need to log into. And by “DHCP – IPv4 server” you can find out whether the router distributes IP addresses automatically.

If you didn’t know, the router can distribute IP addresses automatically (DHCP), and if automatic distribution is disabled, then you need to register IP addresses, this method is called static. As I said above, my IP: 192.168.1.1.

If everything I said above did not help you, then there is another option. Pay attention on the back of your router, or rarely on the bottom, there may be a sticker on which the IP address is sometimes written. Sometimes I find that the router settings are located directly on the router itself.

I'm attaching a photo below so you can roughly understand where to look for this information.

Now open any browser and address bar Enter the IP address of your router and press “Enter”.

A standard window will appear where you need to enter your username and password to enter the router menu. By default, as a rule, this is admin-admin (again, in case of difficulties, study the instructions, or pay attention to the sticker), these parameters are rarely changed. If the admin password does not work, you can try pass or password.

It happens that you can log in without a password at all, just enter admin and click “Login”. After correct input we find ourselves in the main menu:

In my router you need to click “Basic” - “Wireless Lan”.

As you can see from the screenshot above, my current password is “Abracadabra” (for example). In some routers you cannot see existing password, but you can see the words “Password Viewer”, “Click here to display” or something similar near the password. By clicking on the corresponding inscription, the Wi-Fi password appears. If the router does not have a password viewing function, then you can enter your password, that is, change it.

Of course, yours may be a little different. For example, you need to click on “Wireless” - “Security”. As you understand, even if there are some differences, you can still roughly understand where the settings for Wi-Fi are. If there are no signs related to Wi-Fi, then we simply go through all the sections.

A small warning: if you change the network name, you will have to reconnect all devices. If you just change the password, then network connections will remain the same, they just need to be replaced Old Password on new.

This is how you can quickly and easily find out or change the password for your Wi-Fi wireless network without turning to outside specialists.

Also, to find out the Wi-Fi password, you can consider the option of calling the specialist who set up your router. But you need to be prepared for the answer that he forgot it and didn’t write it down in his notebook. Usually they answer that you need to come and look at the password, and if you even ask how to do it yourself, you most likely will not get a positive answer. This is a double-edged sword, he wants you to pay him money, because he needs to come to you, wasting his time, for which naturally you will need to pay.

This is where I end this article, see you soon!

For clear example, watch the video - how to find out the password on D-link:
