Now the language barrier will not prevent you from visiting amazing places on our planet and traveling around the world.
It should be said that this is not all the capabilities of the Google toolbar.

Good day, dear site visitor! This post will look at the Google webmaster panel - Google Search Console. Previously, I already wrote about the same tool for webmasters from Yandex, you can read about it. After reading the article to the end, you will learn why and how to add a website search console, and also consider all the tools in the Google Webmaster Tools panel.

Why do you need Google Webmaster Tools?

By adding your site to Google Webmaster Tools, you can:

  • analyze the search queries that bring users to your website from the search results;
  • view indexing statistics;
  • receive alerts about robot scanning errors, security and indexing issues;
  • find out which pages are displayed poorly on mobile devices;
  • monitor the link profile - external and internal links;
  • add Robots.txt and Sitemap.xml files to the Google console;
  • send requests for forced url indexing.

How to add a site to Google Webmaster

Before registering a website in Google Search Console, create an email address at gmail.com. Instructions for creating Google mail can be found here

To log in to Google Webmaster, follow the link https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=ru

On the page that opens you will be asked to confirm ownership of the site. We do everything according to the instructions:

In the process of writing the instructions, I add my new site to Google Webmaster, so I don’t include a link to it. In the first step, click on the link and save the file to your computer. Next, in a way convenient for you, upload it to the site’s public_html folder. I usually download all files via . The program is not difficult to use. If you are more familiar with a regular hosting panel, download through it. To check whether you have uploaded the file there, follow the link in the second paragraph. If the page opens and everything works, then click on the “Confirm” button.

We've sorted out adding the site. Now let's look at the Google toolbar and its functionality.

Basic tools for webmasters in Google Search Console

Just recently Google Webmaster changed the interface. The old version is also available, you can switch to it through the menu bar in the left column. The distinctive features of the new interface are as follows:

  • the new Google Console is optimized for viewing on mobile devices;
  • the period for analyzing traffic data has been increased from 3 to 16 months;
  • the report on external and internal links is on one page.

Let's look at what functionality the Google Webmaster console has:

On the main page there are three graphs with reports: efficiency, coverage and improvements.

The Index section contains two items: Coverage and Sitemaps.

The Coverage section contains a report on site indexing and errors encountered while crawling by robot

Using this data, you can find out about the number of indexed Internet pages, as well as what errors occurred when the search bot passed the site.

The Remove URLs subsection is not available in the new interface. In it, you could leave a request to remove pages from the index that got there by mistake and are of no use.

Scanning

In this section you can see errors and problems that were detected by the Google search robot when scanning the pages of your site. Let's look at each subsection in more detail:

  • Scan errors. Here is a list of pages, as well as the reasons why the robot could not access the page.
  • Scan statistics for the last 90 days. Here you will see the number of pages scanned per day, the number of kilobytes downloaded and the time spent.
  • View as Googlebot. You are given the opportunity to look at the site page through the eyes of a Google robot.
  • Blocked URLs. Page addresses blocked in the robots.txt file are displayed here. If you installed the directive incorrectly, you will see it here.
  • Sitemaps. The Sitemap.xml file contains a list of articles posted on the site and also states how often a particular page is updated. This instructs the search robot to crawl pages at a certain frequency. On the Google web site you can see the number of pages submitted and indexed on the graph. In my case, these values were the same.
  • URL parameters. Here you can track the duplicates on the site. I have added the following parameter - replytocom. He is responsible for responding to comments.

The article turned out to be very long, but it covers all the tools and reports of the Google Webmaster Panel (Google Search Console). I hope that you will find useful information for yourself.

Unfortunately, the equivalent of Yandex Webmaster in Google is not as functional as Yandex Webmaster. I would like to believe that it will be finalized in the near future.

Google is one of the most popular and convenient search engines, which is increasingly preferred by users. But it is also a huge company that develops various services and applications for the most comfortable and enjoyable use of the Internet. One of the first developments (after Search, Directory and, of course, AdWords) was Google Toolbar.

The program was created and offered for installation in the most popular year at that time (2000). This was convenient for users, because there was no built-in search in IE, and it was beneficial for the creators, since it was an excellent way to promote a new addition. A lot of time has passed since then and, naturally, significant changes have occurred in the panel.

Among the most popular components that the Google Toolbar contains are built-in site page search, automatic content translation, suggestions for incorrectly entered addresses, spell checking, and others. These tools are really useful and make the user's job much easier. Over time, some of them were built into IE. In general, this browser was the only one that did not have Google search by default. That's why Google Toolbar was the most important addition for him.

Some people are wondering if there is such a Google Toolbar for Opera. No, a special version was developed (in addition to IE) only for FireFox, but its development stopped back in 2011. In addition, today the company fully supports and promotes Chrome, which, according to the results of research, is the most popular. In this regard, Google is currently simply maintained in working mode, but not updated.

All Google Toolbar features are now built into Chrome. If you use this browser, then it has all the necessary tools. However, if you decide to install the Google Toolbar in IE, then you should take a closer look at its capabilities. Here's what it includes:

  1. Live search - when you enter a word, you see suggestions in the form of the most popular queries (starting with the corresponding letters) that users are searching for. This way, you don't have to write the entire word/phrase.
  2. which can be opened from any computer (saved in your account).
  3. Translation (mouse over or automatically the entire page).
  4. Spell check - errors are highlighted in red, and when you hover the cursor, the correct option is shown.
  5. Autofill - eliminates the need to enter your name, login, phone number, etc. every time.
  6. Button "+1" - allows you to share useful and interesting information with friends.
  7. Google+ Alerts (when a new message arrives, the corresponding button is highlighted in red).
  8. Settings that allow you to edit the Google Toolbar (remove or add tools, labels on buttons, etc.).

Overall, this add-on is quite convenient and useful. However, today many people use the Chrome browser, which already contains all these settings. And secondly, the minimalistic design of other services does not really fit with such a panel, which looks rather cumbersome, not very modern, and sometimes slows down work.

In this tutorial I will show you how to add express panel for Google Chrome.

In the last lesson we talked about how to export and import bookmarks in the google chrome browser. Now, as promised, I will tell you how you can add an express panel with visual bookmarks to the Google Chrome browser. Let's consider two ways.

Express panel from Yandex

After you have gone to the site in the extension search engine, enter the search query “Visual bookmarks” and select the “Extensions” type. In the results you will have an extension from Yandex. This is exactly what we need to install. To install, you must click on the "Free" button.

After this, a new window will pop up in which you need to click on the “Add” button.

A message will pop up indicating that the extension was installed successfully.

Now when you launch your browser or open a new tab, you will see visual bookmarks.

Now let's go in and see what settings the Yandex express panel has. To do this, follow the link in the lower right corner. A list with settings will open in front of you, where you can select the number of bookmarks to display on the screen, and the ability to change the background of the express panel.

If you click on the "Other options" button, you can configure the appearance of headings, display of the search bar, an additional bookmarks bar, and agree to sending anonymous statistics about the operation of the extension to Yandex.

If you look at the bookmarks that have already been added, you can see the last sites you visited. Thus, Yandex filled the void that would have been created if there were not a single bookmark. Therefore, first we need to learn how to delete bookmarks. To do this, hover your mouse over the bookmark you want to delete and click on the cross that appears in the upper right corner of the bookmark. Then confirm deleting the bookmark.

Now there is a void at the site of the bookmark, which you can fill with a new one. To do this, just hover your mouse cursor over this place and you will see a button to add a bookmark.

By clicking on the button, you will see several fields that you simply need to fill out. The first field is for the site address, in which you can simply start entering the site and the extension itself will prompt you for the further link and name for the future bookmark. At the end, you just need to click on the “Save” button. That's it, the bookmark has been added.

Also, you can correct the data that you entered when adding a bookmark. To do this, hover your mouse over the bookmark you want to edit and simply click the gear icon.

Well, in the end it’s worth saying that you can swap bookmarks with each other. To do this, simply hold down the bookmark with the left mouse button and drag it to another location.

Speed Dial 2 extension

You can install it in exactly the same way. Enter the query into the search and click the “Install” button.

Now let's open a new empty tab. You will see a welcome message that you can either skip, or click “Continue” to familiarize yourself with all the features of the add-on.

After viewing the presentation, you will be asked to register, which is not required, so feel free to click on the “Continue without account” link.

When opened for the first time, the panel looks like this.

To add a bookmark, click on the plus icon. Next, enter the site address and bookmark name in the fields. Just below you can add your own sketch of a visual bookmark. At the end, click “Save”.

After saving, you will have a new bookmark. By right-clicking on it, you can open it, edit, delete or update the sketch. Nearby there will be a special icon through which you can add another bookmark. This way you can add a large number of visual tabs.

Now let's look at the special icon that has appeared on the panel in the upper right corner. With its help you can customize the panel. To do this, follow the "Options" link.

There are a huge number of options here, setting them up should not be difficult. If you have created an account for yourself and logged into it, then here you can create backup copies of your saved bookmarks, so that if something happens they can be restored at any time.

That's all for me, see you in the next lessons. Be sure to subscribe to my

Google Chrome does not contain beautiful visual bookmarks, the standard of which was once set by the Opera browser on the Presto engine. And which today can be found in Opera based on Chromium, as well as in the Vivaldi and Yandex Browser browsers. Instead of visual bookmarks, Google Chrome is equipped with another tool for quick access to your favorite sites - the services panel, also known as the Chrome Apps Launcher.

Below we will consider its specifics and settings.

Specifics of the Chrome Services Panel

The Chrome services panel is a separate standard browser page at chrome://apps, designed in the style of desktops of mobile operating systems, where favorite sites are displayed in the form of compact shortcuts. You can get to it using the browser’s bookmarks bar, unless the (initially active) option “Show the “Services” button” is disabled in the latter’s context menu.

Playing the main role of a guide to the world of the Internet, Chrome is also a platform for running applications - simple programs tailored for the operation of web services, but more often ordinary websites, with the only difference that they can potentially be launched in a separate window based on Chrome , cleared of browser tools. The services panel is used to launch Chrome applications. Previously, it could also be integrated into Windows or Mac OS. The panel was launched in a small system window using a shortcut separate from the browser. But now this feature is left only for Chrome OS, and has been removed from the browser.

The Chrome Services Bar is not a traditional tool for quick access to your favorite sites like visual bookmarks, but it can be used as such a tool. Unfortunately, it is not customizable simply and flexibly, like the “native” visual bookmark bars of the Opera and Vivaldi browsers. Nevertheless, the Chrome services bar can be a good alternative to visual bookmarks when working with low-power computers. It is minimalistic and, accordingly, does not burden the browser, as most extensions do to implement colorful and functional quick access pages.

In the Chrome services panel, you can create as many desktops as you like with a thematic selection of shortcuts and, holding down the left mouse button, move these shortcuts from one desktop to another. The new desktop will appear automatically if the shortcut is pulled to the maximum to the right, to the very edge of the screen. You can move between desktops either using the stripes on the sides of the screen or using the keys Ctrl+→/←, or by scrolling the mouse wheel with the Shift key held down.

In terms of organizing the Chrome services panel, we will only get this minimum of capabilities. Well, maybe even more options for each individual shortcut. In the shortcuts context menu, you can remove them from the Chrome services panel, create system launch shortcuts for them, and configure them to open in a regular browser tab or in their own separate window. Only individual shortcuts will be able to configure settings.

Alas, the shortcut cannot even be renamed. To correct the name, you will have to delete the shortcut and create it again, but with a different name.

Well, now let’s talk about how to place shortcuts to the necessary sites on the Chrome services panel. These get there in several ways - when downloading unpacked extensions in developer mode, when installing applications from the browser store, and when turning ordinary sites into Chrome applications. Let's look at the last two ways.

You can search for shortcuts to individual sites in the Chrome Store by selecting the Apps search filter.

Your favorite sites

Naturally, not all possible Internet sites are represented in the Chrome Store. For a shortcut to your favorite site to appear on the services panel, first open it in a Chrome window, then click on the browser menu and select "Additional Tools", then - "Add to desktop".

A dialog box will appear at the top where you can change the automatically generated name of the site, and also, if necessary, assign it to open not among the general browser tabs, but in a separate window. Press the button "Add".

The site shortcut will appear both in the Chrome services panel and on the Windows desktop, from where you can remove it if desired.

The advantage of creating shortcuts in the Chrome services bar by installing apps from the browser's store is that their icons can be customized. The icons of such shortcuts will have the required resolution and proportions of the image. But site shortcuts created using the method described in the previous paragraph of the article, unfortunately, will not in every case have a clear, unblurred and neat image. In this case, Chrome has its own solution: the browser will replace the original blurry shortcut icons with icons of its own automatic production in the form of capital letters of site names against their thematic color.

But this will happen only after the Google account is reconnected to the local browser profile and the data is synchronized.

Access to the services panel can be configured separately from the bookmarks panel. For example, setting the address chrome://apps as the browser's home page so that the services panel opens when you click a button in the form of a house.

An alternative format for the services panel is offered by the Chrome extension - Apps Launcher. It embeds a button to appear in a small drop-down window right on the browser toolbar. The drop-down window is configured in the extension settings.

Another extension - Show Apps in new tab– Chrome Services Bar replaces the Quick Access page when opening a new tab.
