How to make text appear in a frame in Word?

Sometimes we want to highlight some parts of the text in a special way and then we start looking on the Internet for information on how, for example, to highlight a passage with a certain color, how to change the font or add a frame.

Today we will talk about the latter.

There are quite a few ways to do this. Most of them are relevant for all versions Microsoft Word and they are all done as simply as possible.

IN in this case You don’t need to know a lot about the design of this program or even be a more or less advanced user, you just need to follow the instructions given below.

Method No. 1. Standard

In short, this method is to simply select the text, find it in one of the program tabs on top panel paragraph " Borders and Shading» and use it to make a frame around the selected fragment.

In more detail, it all looks like this:

  • We select a specific piece of text by left-clicking at the beginning and, without releasing it, at the end.
  • After that, go to the “Page Layout” tab in Word 2010 and 2007, to the “Design” tab in Word 2013 and to the “Format” menu in Word 2003.
  • Click on the “Page Borders” item in Word 2007, 2010 and 2013 and on the “Borders and Shading” item in Word 2003.

A window that is the same for all versions will open “ Borders and Shading"(only the design of the window itself will differ).

  • Go to the tab " Border».

Important: When this window opens, the “Page” tab automatically opens. They have the same interface, but the first one will perform certain actions for a selected piece of text, and the second one will perform certain actions for the entire page.

IN open tab“Border” select the “frame” type.

Click "OK" at the bottom of the window - and you're done.

This is interesting: Try experimenting with the type of frame borders. There is a special section for this, which is called “Type”.

As you can see, there you can select a frame with borders in the form of a dot-dash, dash-dash, and so on. Also in this window you can select the color of the lines, their width and many other parameters.

And the frame itself can be made voluminous, with a shadow, colorless, or made special in other ways.

This window will definitely be useful to people who often work with Word.

Method number 2. Using tables

This method also works in absolutely everyone. Microsoft versions Word does not cause any particular difficulties.

It consists in first creating a table with one cell and one column, writing some text in it, and then simply “adjusting” the size of the table to the size of the text.

In more detail, in Microsoft Word 2007, 2010 and 2013 all this is done as follows:

  • Go to the “Insert” tab on the top panel of the program;
  • Click the “Table” button;
  • We aim at the grid so that only one square is selected. Click on it.

  • The 1×1 table we need will appear on the screen.
  • Hover the mouse cursor over it, left-click and enter required text.
  • We move the mouse cursor over the boundaries of this table, we see that it takes the form of a line with arrows on both sides. We move them in such a way as to reduce the size of the table.

In Microsoft Word 2003 the same thing happens like this:

  • On the top panel, select the “Table” menu;
  • In the drop-down list, move the cursor to the “Insert” item, then again to “Table”
  • A window will open where you need to specify “1” next to the words “Number of columns” and “Number of rows”;
  • Further actions are exactly the same - click on the table, insert the desired text there and change its size using the mouse cursor.

In principle, you can create tables in this way in later versions of Microsoft Word, but there are already more convenient way, which was described above.

Method No. 3. Using shapes

As you know, Microsoft Word has the ability to insert all kinds of rectangles, circles, cones, and the like into a document. In all versions the sets of figures are identical.

The essence of the method is to create a regular square and add text to it.

In fact, we are creating the same 1x1 table, only in the form of a picture. IN Microsoft Word 2007, 2010 and 2013 this method implies next steps:

  • Go to the “Insert” tab;
  • Select the item “Shapes”;
  • Select a regular rectangle. While drawing a rectangle, the user can immediately edit its dimensions;
  • When the rectangle is placed on the page, right-click on the rectangle and select “Insert text”;
  • We write the required text.

IN Microsoft Word 2003 this whole process looks a little different. In this program, the list of shapes is simply located in a different place.

But the figures themselves, as mentioned above, are exactly the same as in later versions. There, to add a rectangle, you need to do the following:

  • On the bottom panel, hover your mouse over the “AutoShapes” item.
  • In the drop-down menu, select “Basic Shapes”.
  • In the list, just click on the rectangle (number 1 in the figure below).
  • Further work with the figure occurs in exactly the same way as in later versions of Word - expand or narrow it, right-click, select “Add text” and insert the desired inscription.

There is another way which is to simply click on the rectangle on the bottom panel and continue working with it in the same way.

This option is indicated by number 2 in the figure below.

As you can see, all these methods are extremely simple and should not cause any particular difficulties. To find necessary points menu, you don’t need to spend a long time walking through Word tabs and looking for what you need.

But the result will be very impressive.

Method number 4. Caption Tool

Microsoft Word 2007, 2010, and 2013 have a Text Box tool. It is located in the "Insert" tab.

To make text in a frame using such a tool, you must perform the following steps:

  • Open the “Insert” tab;
  • Click on the “Inscription” button.
  • Select one of the inscription styles.

As you can see, the very first style is a regular frame. Click on it, insert the text and click on an empty space on the page.

After this, the frame can be edited traditional way– resize, move, and so on.

As you can see, in this menu there are other options for inserting text - for example, there is a very impressive inscription in the form of a panel on the side. Word 2003 also has such a tool.

The whole process of using it looks like this:

  • Click on the “Insert” menu;
  • In it, select the “Inscription” item.

In any case, use this tool very convenient.

Good day, dear readers of my blog. Photos in beautiful frames can be not only a spectacular gift that you wouldn’t be ashamed to send to friends for a holiday via the Internet, but also a stylish element of your website design. They can be used as part of the content or as an independent element. For example, placing it in the header, next to the logo.

Therefore, today I will tell you how to make a frame in Photoshop. All the methods that I will give in this article are quite simple, even a beginner can do it. If you are not too sure or don’t trust your own taste, then even in this case, I will tell you what to do. Well, shall we get started?

A way to quickly make a frame of one color

If you just follow the photo, you will end up with an oval frame.

If you simultaneously press Shift button on the keyboard, then round. By the way, this button can also turn a rectangle into a square.

You can click on the eye next to the layer's thumbnail to toggle the visibility of the fill on and off. It’s naturally easier to select from the background by turning off the top layer.

But further actions you will have to do this by turning on the top layer. And making it active. Watch the backlight.

When you're ready, press Del.

You can trim the edges.

Unusual frame edges

Now let's make a frame with unusual inner edges. First, create a new layer. You already know how to do this.

Now find Q on the keyboard and press to switch to quick mask mode.

Apply free transform using CTRL+T and reduce the size.

In the top menu we find “Filters” - “Distortion”. You can apply Wave, distortion, curvature, polar coordinates, spherization. I like the ripples.

We pull the slider to increase or decrease the effect, and then save.

That's not all yet. Click on Q.

We have highlighted the edges. By the way, use your imagination when working in Photoshop. This selection does not resemble the same as when working with circles, ellipses or themes. Think about how to use Photoshop's capabilities differently than the authors of such articles show you. Do not treat the acquired knowledge as a guide for action.

For now, these crawling ants won't help much. Choose Invert from the Selection menu to fill the area you want.

This is how it should work out for you. Be careful further work should occur on the top layer, not on the bottom.

You can apply a gradient.

Or one color.

Press CTRL+D to get rid of crawling ants.

Very nice frames for beginners

I already showed you the site photoshop-master. You may have noticed that there is a section with free and very beautiful frames. Even a beginner can use them. All of them are free.

Using them is quite simple if you look at these wonderful instructions.

Other free videos You can find lessons from the founders of Photoshop Master at this link: www.photoshop-master.ru/lessons .

However, if you want to reach greater heights, then you need not specific solution tasks. There are no professionals who can draw a frame from a gradient, but will go to Google to create a transparent one.

They delve into their own heads and knowledge of the tools helps them figure out how to achieve this themselves. If you are interested in this, I can recommend Zinaida Lukyanova’s course “Photoshop from scratch in video format” .
