How to extract files from a broken Android phone. How to remove contacts from a phone with a broken Samsung screen

The race for fashion sometimes harms comfort - a modern glass smartphone is a rather fragile device. We’ll talk about how to protect it another time, but today we’ll talk about ways to extract contacts from the phone book of a broken smartphone.

This operation is not as complicated as it might seem - fortunately, manufacturers took into account the possibility of damage to the device and included tools in the OS for rescuing phone numbers.

You can remove contacts in two ways - by air, without connecting to a computer, and through the ADB interface, to use which the gadget will need to be connected to a PC or laptop. Let's start with the first option.

Method 1: Google Account

For full functionality of an Android phone, you need to connect a Google account to the device. It has a function for synchronizing data, in particular, information from the phone book. In this way, you can transfer contacts directly without the participation of a PC or use a computer. Before starting the procedure, make sure that data synchronization is active on the broken device.

If the phone's display is damaged, then most likely the touchscreen has also failed. You can control the device without it - just connect a mouse to your smartphone. If the screen is completely broken, then you can try connecting the phone to the TV to display the picture.

Telephone

Direct transfer of information between smartphones consists of simple data synchronization.

Done – numbers transferred.

Computer

For a long time now, the “good corporation” has been using a single account for all its products, which also stores telephone numbers. To access them, you should use a separate service for storing synchronized contacts, which has an export function.

  1. Follow the link above. Sign in to your account if prompted. After the page loads, the entire list of synchronized contacts will appear in front of you.
  2. Select any position, then click on the icon with the minus sign at the top and select "All" to select all saved in the service.

    You can simply select individual contacts if you do not need to restore all synchronized numbers.

  3. Click on the three dots in the toolbar and select an option "Export".
  4. Next you need to note the export format - for installation in a new phone it is better to use the option "vCard". Select it and click "Export".
  5. Save the file to your computer, then copy it to your new smartphone and import contacts from VCF.

This method is the most functional for transferring numbers from a broken phone. As you can see, the option of transferring phone-to-phone contacts is somewhat simpler, but using Google Contacts allows you to do without a broken phone altogether: the main thing is that synchronization is active on it.

Method 2: ADB (root only)

The Android Debug Bridge interface is well known to fans of customization and flashing, but it will also come in handy for users who want to retrieve contacts from a damaged smartphone. Unfortunately, only owners of rooted devices can use it. If the damaged phone turns on and can be controlled, it is recommended to obtain Root access: this will help save not only contacts, but also many other files.

Before using this method, carry out the preparatory procedures:

  • Enable on the damaged smartphone;
  • Download the archive for working with ADB to your computer and unpack it to the root directory of the C: drive;
  • Download and install.

Now we proceed directly to copying the phone book data.

This method is more complicated than the previous one and more time-consuming, but it allows you to extract contacts even from a completely dead phone. The main thing is that it is recognized normally by the computer.

Solving some problems

The procedures described above do not always go smoothly; difficulties may arise during the process. Let's look at the most common ones.

Synchronization is enabled, but there is no contact backup

A fairly common problem that arises for many reasons, ranging from simple inattention to a malfunction of Google Services. Our website has detailed instructions with a list of ways to fix this problem - visit the link below.

The phone connects to the computer, but is not detected

Also one of the most common difficulties. The first thing you need to do is check the drivers: it is possible that you did not install them or installed the incorrect version. If everything is absolutely fine with the drivers, this symptom may indicate problems with the connectors or USB cable. Try reconnecting your phone to a different connector on your computer. If this does not help, try using a different cord for connection. If replacing the cable turns out to be ineffective, check the condition of the connectors on the phone and PC: they may be dirty and covered with oxides, which is why the contact is broken. In extreme cases, such behavior means a malfunction of the connector or a problem with the phone’s motherboard - in the latter case, you can’t do anything on your own, you’ll have to contact service.

Conclusion

We introduced you to the main ways to get numbers from the phone book on a broken Android device. This procedure is not complicated, but it requires the functionality of the motherboard and flash memory of the device.

After purchasing a new phone, the user inevitably has the question of how to transfer contacts from the old gadget. In the case of photo and video files, everything is simple - the data is simply copied to the SD card. But what to do with hundreds of numbers in the phone book?

Manual rewriting of numbers is unlikely to work here. This is too long, and there is a possibility that you will make a mistake in one or another figure. If you transfer contacts, a computer or laptop will come to the rescue. But how to transfer contacts from your phone to your computer? You will find the answer in our article.

There are three main ways to move contacts on your PC:

Method 1. Through a Google account

Each Android smartphone user must have a Google account, which can be used to install and update applications. Through your account, you can copy numbers in two stages.

Before you transfer contacts from your phone to your computer, you need to synchronize:

  • Login to your smartphone settings
  • Select "Accounts"
  • Click on the Google item or add it using the command in the list
  • Set the switch next to the “Contacts” item
  • Click on the menu in the upper right corner
  • Click "Synchronize"

After this, you can proceed directly to copying numbers. This happens using the settings of the “Contacts” system application. This program has an export and import function. All numbers are packaged into a vcf file, which can then be sent by email:

  • Launch the Internet on your smartphone
  • Open "Contacts"
  • Click on the drop-down menu
  • Select Import/Export
  • Specify a SIM card or internal memory as the export source
  • Select email address
  • Specify contacts to transfer

After a few seconds, all contacts will be reset to email. They can be left in an electronic mailbox or transferred to the PC memory.

By the way, numbers from the phone book in the form of a vcf file can be copied to an SD card, and then transferred to the computer’s hard drive via a card reader. In this case, it is important that there are no applications installed on the card that will be removed after it is removed.

Method 2: How to transfer contacts from your phone using USB via a computer

If you need to transfer contacts from your phone urgently, and there is no time to synchronize with your Google account, you can copy the phone book to your PC via USB. To do this, you first need to move all the numbers to the memory of your mobile device:

  1. In Android settings, open Contacts
  2. Select import/export
  3. In the “source” field, select a SIM card
  4. Designate your phone memory as a storage location

Now contacts from the phone memory can be transferred to the SD card as a vcf file. Make sure that the copying was completed correctly and connect the phone to the PC using a USB cable:

  • In the USB startup menu on your phone, assign file transfer
  • Open the folder with disks on your PC
  • Find your phone in the list
  • Go to internal memory
  • Copy the business card file to PC memory

Method 3: How to copy contacts through third-party programs

The “Applications” section on the Play Market contains hundreds of programs that can be used to copy phone numbers to your computer. Despite the differences in settings and interface, all these applications have one thing in common - the principle of creating a vcf file into which contacts are packaged for sending to a PC.

Having tried several programs for transferring contacts, we decided to recommend to our readers the AirDroid service, which allows you to remotely control your phone from a PC. An account in this service is created in three steps:

  1. Open the official website of the service and register
  2. Install the AirDroid application on your mobile device
  3. Sign in to your account

How to retrieve data if the display on an Android phone is broken. If you accidentally dropped your smartphone or tablet and then the Android display broke, the cost of replacing it is exorbitant, and you urgently need to get all the data from it? Then let's move on to reading this article!

Very often on the Internet you can come across the following question:

« I broke the display and how can I now extract all the data from Android? Help!!!»

Now we will deal with this problem, since at the moment there are no clear and formulated solutions!

The material will be presented from simple to complex - this means that at certain stages you will need additional knowledge, you will be given additional information. articles that you will need to study! The article is designed for those whose screen displays at least something!

Instructions for solving the problem

Method No. 1 [simple, solution time 1 - 2 minutes]

If you “didn’t sin” on your Android, to be more precise, you didn’t install Root rights, then in your case everything is solved very simply! All you need to do is download and install the manufacturer’s proprietary device management software!

  • For Samsung - Kies
  • For HTC - HTC Sync
  • For Sony - PC Comanion

Method number 2 [simple, solution time 1 - 2 minutes]

To do this, you need a USB mouse and an adapter from a USB - microUSB connector, or a USB mouse with a microUSB connector.

Not all Android devices support connecting input devices via the microUSB connector.

After you have connected the USB mouse, press the power button (so that the display lights up) and then perform all controls using the mouse.

Method No. 3 [difficult, solution time 40 minutes - 5 hours]

There is a rather interesting program like MyMobiler. The interesting thing is that with the help of this software it is possible to view and control Android via a computer.

For MyMobler to work you will need:

1. Enabled “USB debugging” on Android device

2. Availability of Root rights:

3. Install the MyMobiler application (or via update.zip)

Possible problems if something is disabled or missing:

What if debugging is not enabled?

You can enable it by trying this:

a) Download and install custom Recovery (not TWRP, only CWM No Touch)

b) Find the build.prop file on the Internet for a specific model with the same firmware version that you have installed and enter the following data into it:

persist.service.adb.enable=1 persist.service.debuggable=1 persist.sys.usb.config=mass_storage,adb

c) Create update.zip by placing the file build.prop to root /system

d) Flash this update.zip

After which debugging should work!

I received Root, but I can’t confirm the request?

If the display does not respond to pressing in any way, then you can try installing this xml file eu.chainfire.supersu_preferences (located in the 7zip archive) via update.zip from the Recovery menu along the path: /data/data/eu.chainfire.supersu/shared_prefs

Press the power button (so that the display lights up) and then perform all controls using the MyMobler program!

Method number 4 [simple, solution time 20 minutes]

The method works as follows: Android is connected to the computer and, using the program, the Android screen is displayed on the Windows desktop. For this method to work, “USB Debugging” must be previously enabled!

Required tools:

  1. Windows computer
  2. USB cable;
  3. Previously installed Android drivers;
  4. Previously enabled “USB Debugging”;
  5. Installed Adb Run program;

Instructions for working with Adb Run:

1. Launch Adb Run;

2. Go to the menuManual Command -> Control Android out Windows;

Smartphones have been a part of our lives for almost ten years now, and as recent data from various manufacturers show, the number of miniature electronic assistants will only increase. And this is not surprising - smartphones have become cheap, reliable, and most importantly useful, displacing communicators from the market and seriously displacing ordinary phones. But devices with touch screens and multi-core processors also have a big drawback, the name of which is durability, or rather the lack thereof. Fashionable and thin smartphones do not always survive a fall to the asphalt from a height of one and a half meters, while the durability of their push-button predecessors was legendary.

In this article, we will not tell you how to protect your smartphone from falls: this question has been raised more than once on the Internet and, moreover, is seriously different for different models. We will tell you what to do if this has already happened and the phone with important information was broken. And the most important information on phones is, of course, contacts.

There are two ways to recover contacts from a broken Android smartphone: restoring from a cloud copy and using a special ADB protocol to pull contacts directly from the Android device system. We will talk about them in order of complexity of the process, so if you are not confident in your skills in working with equipment, we advise you to start with the first point and only if it does not work, move on to the second.

How to pull contacts through a cloud service

Retrieving contacts directly from a broken Android phone is difficult and often requires quite extensive technical skills. On the other hand, there are several services that allow users of still working smartphones to upload their contact sheets to the network. And if most of these services need to be pre-installed on an Android device, then at least one of them is already there. Moreover, it is already pre-connected and synchronizes with the online database every time you connect to the network. We are, of course, talking about Google contacts.

IMPORTANT: This method can recover contacts even from a stolen or missing phone, but it does not work if you have not signed in to your Google account on your smartphone (usually this happens when you turn on your smartphone for the first time or when you log into the Play Market for the first time). Also, if you turned off background synchronization in your smartphone's settings, the restored contact database may be out of date and may not include the latest changes.

In order to recover contacts from a Google account, you will need either another Android phone or a regular computer.

How to Pull Contacts Using Another Android Phone

In order to access your contact database from another Android smartphone, you will need to add your Google account to it. This is done when you turn on your smartphone for the first time, when during activation you will be asked to connect your smartphone to your Google account and will be offered a choice of “Existing” and “New”. To restore your old contacts, select “Existing”, then enter the Email and password that you used on your old smartphone.

If the phone in your hands is not new and it already has a Google account, then you will first have to go to “Settings” and click on the “Add account” button. On older versions of Android it may be under Accounts & Sync, but as of version 4.4 KitKat it is on the main Settings page. After adding an account, click on it (it will be in the Google menu in the Accounts section) and select what exactly you want to synchronize with this device.

If you do not want your account to be subsequently linked to the phone on which you do this, then you can delete the account link after you copy the contacts to your phone (or even just to your address book). To do this, go to “Settings”, enter the “Google” menu, select an account, click on the “Menu” button (three vertical dots or a physical button on your smartphone) and click on “Delete account”.

Regardless of which of the two methods you used, wait a few minutes and enter the Contacts app - most likely, the contacts will already be downloaded to your phone. What to do with them next is up to you.

How to pull out contacts using a PC

You won’t be able to pull out Google contacts in the literal sense of the word on a PC, but you can view them to, say, find the most necessary numbers and write them down.

You can do this at http://mail.google.com, where you will be required to enter your email and password for your Google account. After authorization, you will be taken to the Gmail interface - an email and contact management service.

To switch it to the phone contact search mode, click the button with the image of a handset in the lower left corner of the screen (https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#contacts). Now click on the search button (magnifying glass) just above and you will see the first eight phone contacts associated with this account. To view the rest, start dialing the phone number or name of the contact you need and this contact will appear in the list.

Using the ADB protocol

IMPORTANT: Unlike the previous method, this solution allows you to get contacts directly from Android, and not from cloud storage. This method will work even if you do not have and have never had a Google account, but it requires that the smartphone at least turn on and boot into the system.

ADB is a special protocol for accessing Android system using PC and USB cable. For ADB to work correctly, you need to enable the “USB Debugging” function on your smartphone, which is located in “Settings”, in the hidden “For Developers” section. To get to the section, you need to go to the “About phone” section and click on the “Build number” item about ten times.

Since most Android users do not do this and usually are not even aware of this section, this method is only suitable for advanced users who activated the “USB Debugging” option before crashing their device. Therefore, we will not describe in detail the installation and configuration of the protocol for the phone and PC (for this you should contact the forums dedicated to your device, since the differences can be striking), but we will simply briefly tell you what you will need in order to remove the contacts.

  1. PC with Windows 7 installed (normal operation is not guaranteed on 8, 8.1 and Windows 10).
  2. A phone with the “USB Debugging” function enabled in the settings, connected to this PC with a MicroUSB cable. Connection mode - Mass Storage.
  3. ADB drivers installed on your PC for your smartphone model.
  4. An archive with an ADB terminal unpacked along the path “X://ADB” on a PC, where X is the drive letter, preferably a non-system one.

Now let's proceed directly to extracting contacts.

  1. Click the "Start" button and enter "cmd" in the search field, without quotes. The system will prompt you to run the “cmd.exe” program. Agree by pressing Enter. A terminal window will open.
  2. Now we need to move this terminal to the folder with the ADB terminal. To do this, type “cd X://adb” and press Enter. Naturally, instead of X you will have to substitute the letter of the drive on which you unpacked the archive.
  3. Type the command “adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contact2.db /home/user/phone_backup/” and press Enter. After this, the file “contact2.db” with an SQL contact database will appear in the folder with the ADB terminal. It can be viewed with special SQL editors or, at worst, with Notepad.

There are also several specific solutions for devices with superuser rights, but if you know what “superuser rights” are and even got them on your smartphone, you can easily find similar solutions yourself. And if you lack experience, use the method described above; the chance of error in it is extremely low, unlike the others.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is worth saying that you should never neglect backups. If you want the next loss of your device (if it happens) to be painless, make sure that a Google account is linked to your Android and background synchronization is turned on. Restoring information from such a phone is painless and takes, as we wrote above, only a few minutes.

Effective methods to quickly and easily remove contacts from a broken Android phone

The problem of a broken mobile phone is familiar to many users. The phone accompanies a person almost everywhere, which means the device is subject to various influences and damage. What to do if you broke your smartphone, how to remove contacts from a broken Android phone? Read about it below.

Using cloud technologies

If the sensor or display does not work, then removing contacts directly from the device will be problematic. One of the most effective recovery options is to use the Google Contacts cloud resource. This option is only relevant if you are logged into your Google account, otherwise it will not work. You can copy contacts from a broken device to a PC, laptop or any device with the Android operating system.

Using another phone running Android

How to extract contacts from a broken smartphone? To access data about existing contacts on your device, you need to sign in to your Google account. With the first activation of a mobile gadget, the system itself will ask you to connect your phone to your account, since without this you will not be able to download programs and use useful options. After activating the mobile device, the system will prompt you to select an existing account or create another one.

To copy information, click on the “Existing Account” button, then enter the authorization data - email address and password. This will allow you to synchronize the recorded data.

When using a smartphone that is already logged in, you need to go to the settings menu and find the button to add a new account. In devices with an outdated firmware version, this button may be located in the “Accounts and Synchronization” submenu; starting with firmware 4.4, this button is located in the main settings menu. When the account is added, you need to click on the button - the system will offer a list of components that can be synchronized with the device.

To prevent your account from being linked to the phone with which you are performing the operation, you must remove the link after completing the actions. To delete, go to the settings menu and select the Google section. Then you need to click on your account and go to the menu, this is either a key in the form of three dots or a key directly on the smartphone. Erase your account information. When you complete one of the above methods, wait 2-3 minutes and go to contacts or reboot your gadget.

1. Click the Existing button in the selection window. 2. Enter your account login information. 3. When the operation is completed, delete your account information.

Using PC

How to transfer contacts from your phone to your computer if the first one is broken?

Using a computer, you will not be able to recover all lost data about phone numbers, but you can find the most important numbers and write them down:

  1. Using your browser, go to mail.google.com.
  2. A window will appear asking you to enter your email and password to log into your account. Once authorization is complete, you will be taken to the Google mail interface. This service manages your mail and contacts.
  3. Afterwards you will need to switch your mail to the contact information search mode. To do this, click on the button in the form of a tube, it is located at the bottom left.
  4. After completing these steps, you need to click on the button in the shape of a magnifying glass, it is located above, so you will receive a list of the first eight subscribers, they are automatically linked to the account. To view other contacts, you need to enter the beginning of the number or the name of the subscriber in the field one at a time, this will lead to the number appearing in the field (video published by Vladimir Novikov).

Using the ADB protocol

This method of transferring information allows you to extract data directly from the device, and not from a cloud service. The method makes it possible to obtain information even in the absence of account information. Using the ADB protocol will only give results if the phone turns on and boots up. ADB itself is a protocol used to gain access to system information via a USB cable.

For this function to work, you must enable the USB Debugging option on your mobile phone. If it was not enabled in advance, the method may not work. This function is located in the hidden Developer menu, which can be accessed from the main menu. To do this, go to the About phone menu, after which you need to click on the Build number field about 10 times. We will not consider the process of installing and configuring the ADB protocol here, since this procedure is performed in accordance with a specific device.

If you don’t know how to get lost contacts from a gadget, then we’ll briefly tell you what you’ll need:

  1. A computer or laptop with Windows 7 OS. On versions 8 and higher there is no guarantee that the method will work.
  2. Mobile device. As we said, the USB Debugging option must be activated on the smartphone in advance. The smartphone must be connected to the computer via a cable. If the system asks which connection mode to use, select Mass Storage.
  3. You need to install ADB drivers on your computer. These drivers work with a specific phone model.
  4. The archive with the ADB terminal must be unpacked on the PC. It is important that this archive is located in the X:// directory, where X is the logical drive letter. Windows OS should not be installed on the partition being used (the author of the video is Ivan Zadornov).

Recovering lost data is done like this:

  1. First, go to the Start menu on your PC or laptop, in the window that appears, find the search field and enter the letters cmd into it to launch the command line. The system should offer to run a file with the extension .exe, agree.
  2. A new command prompt window will open. The next step is to transfer the opened terminal to the folder with the installed ADB terminal. In the window, type cd X://adb and Enter. Remember that X is the name of the local disk where the archive is located.
  3. Now you need to enter the command adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contact2.db /home/user/phone_backup/. Press Enter. This will result in a file called contact2.db appearing in the directory with the terminal; the file will contain a contact database in SQL format. This file opens with a SQL editor. If you don’t have the utility on your PC, you can use standard Notepad.

Conclusion

To summarize this material, it should be noted that every user should back up data from time to time; this point should not be neglected. This will allow you to quickly restore data if your mobile device is lost or damaged. Link your phone to your Google account and enable background synchronization.

How to look up numbers on a broken Android phone and remove contacts from a smartphone with a broken screen

More than 80% of buyers prefer smartphones with the Android operating system already installed. A lot of exciting applications in the Play Market, the ability to download free software updates, a user-friendly interface, flexible settings, GPS navigator, support for multiple accounts and much more.

But modern mobile device models are not very durable. Therefore, the problem often arises of how to obtain data and restore contacts and sms that are located in the internal memory of an already broken Android phone. In this article, we will help you recover lost information from your smartphone, in particular, retrieve contacts from a broken Android phone.

I’ll immediately suggest an interesting way - you can connect an HDMI cable to your TV and monitor. And then, by connecting the mouse via Bluetooth or USB, save the data to a memory card.

Proven Ways to Retrieve Contacts from a Broken Phone with a Broken Screen

The absence of direct interaction with water during a fall makes it very easy to recover data from the SIM and external memory of the phone. To do this, just take out an SD or operator card and place it in another work phone.

Below we will look at other ways to gain access to a phone with a broken display:

  • via USB cable;
  • e-mail;
  • special programs;
  • cloud data storage;
  • ADB protocol.

Let's look at what difficulties users usually encounter, how to help yourself in such a situation, and how to look up numbers on a broken phone.

How to get Android data from the cloud?

The convenience of working with the Google service is that when registering a mobile device, an account is created in Gmail.com. It will also continue to synchronize information from your Google account and smartphone after accepting the user agreement.

To get contacts from your computer from the cloud if your Android is broken, use your mailbox. In the upper left corner, click the “Gmail” and “Contacts” icon. In the upper right corner we find an image in the form of tiles with the caption “Google Applications”, go to “Drive”, select the file “Contacts.vcf”. You can select “Backups”.

The easiest way to do this is to go to www.google.com/contacts and copy contacts from a broken Android to a new Android smartphone. On your work device, enter your account information and turn on synchronization.

Method via USB cable and PC: how to enable USB debugging?

If something goes wrong with your phone, don’t be upset. To gain absolute access to the device and be able to remotely update the smartphone software, create backups and restore lost data, and move files from Android to PC, you should use ADB.

But first you need to enable USB debugging. There are several versions of operating systems; accordingly, we will consider options for enabling debugging for each version.

For Android software 2 and 3. Go to the menu. Select “Settings”. The next thing we need is to go to “Applications”. Open them and find a section called “Development”. Here we see the USB Debugging feature. We agree with the “Yes” button.

Version 4 of the Android operating system. Of course, we go to the device menu. Select settings. We are looking for a category called “System”. Select information “About phone”. Please pay attention to “Version Information”. In the “Build number” parameters, click until a window appears with the inscription “You have become a developer.” We return to the “System” again. We are looking for a new point. This will be the already connected “For Developers” section, where the necessary “USB Debugging” will appear. Let's choose.

Version 5. From the settings you need to go to the “About phone” information. We are looking for parameters. Select "Build number". A few clicks and “You have become a developer”! Again we go to the initial settings. We turn to the “Advanced” category. We are looking for the corresponding menu item: “For developers”. We continue by going to the “USB Debugging” category. Everything is ready!

How to use ADB for recovery and copying

Before you begin the recovery work, you need to download ADB from the official website qtadb.wordpress.com, download version QtADB 0.8.1 (tested on Windows 7) or the “Android Debug Bridge” driver to your computer.

This program is for extracting data from broken android. Let's look at step-by-step instructions that will help you extract files using the capabilities of a personal computer from a broken Android smartphone:

  • download Adb Run on PC;
  • unpack;
  • We are looking for the required file called “adb.exe”;
  • run as administrator;
  • A blue window pops up;
  • Press the “y” and “Enter” keys several times;
  • load the mobile device;
  • connect the phone to the computer via USB;
  • open “Task Manager”;
  • select your mobile device;
  • right-click to open the menu;
  • select the item “Update drivers”;
  • go to the “adb” folder;
  • press “Shift”;
  • choose a free place;
  • open the “command line”, start-type “cmd”-press “enter”. Here you need to be especially careful;
  • carefully write “adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db”;
  • press “Enter”.

The final file will have a db extension. To open it, use Excel. And having converted it to csv, you can restore the phone book back by importing contacts.

Android programs for receiving and copying information

Not too complicated instructions for the Recovery menu will help you recover data from the memory of a phone with an operating system on the Android platform and find out the information we need. This program is already installed on the smartphone itself. How to go to the menu and make a backup through recovery to quickly extract contacts and SMS from Android with a broken screen:

  • turn off the smartphone;
  • simultaneously press the volume down and the power button; Use the sound button to select “backup and restore”;
  • go to the “backup” section, select it several times using the device’s power button;
  • launch the smartphone connected to the PC;
  • select “My Computer”, find Android and look for the “backup” folder; unpack the archive;
  • select data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db;
  • We open it in a convenient way or through the online converter gsmrecovery.ru. Typically an Excel spreadsheet is used for this purpose.

You can also use “dr.fone” to extract contacts from a broken Android phone, but first you need to find and install this program on your computer. This video demonstrates how the program works. After clicking the “Allow” button, you allow access to all personal data, including photos, numbers, videos. The “Start” button starts scanning the phone. All recovered items will appear on the screen. Having noted the information that is important to you, continue by clicking “Recover”. It is better to copy contacts and SMS from Android to a computer in CSV or HTML format.

Other options for removing contacts

  1. Try this other method - restore your phone book. A good option would be to install the Viber application on your PC. Viber displays all contacts in the phone book.
  2. Using the MyPhoneExplorer application (www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php). Install the program and copy all the contents to the PC. On a smartphone, the program is installed without using the screen. But only USB debugging should be enabled!
  3. If nothing helps you, you will have to seek help from expensive service centers and change the screen.

Ask questions in the comments, we will try to help.

Let's start with the contact list. If your phone runs on Android, then log into your Google account, the login is the same as in the Play Market. In the upper left corner there is a Gmail switch, from which you get to Contacts. Select "Contacts" and check if the desired recipients are in the list. If there are, then import them through the Tasks function.

iPhone and iPad owners can go to iCloud.com. The login is an email, and the password is the same as for the iCloud account that was used on the iPhone or iPad to access the App Store.

iTools

All data from iPhone and iPad is stored in iTools in backup format. It is recommended to do them before each update, then photos, videos, SMS and other types of content, including recordings of telephone conversations, will always be available in the iTools online storage.

Android: USB, wifi, or Bluetooth

If contacts are not stored in accounts, or access to them is lost, or if you need other data from Android, then we try to synchronize the phone with the computer via USB, wifi, or Bluetooth.

MyPhoneExplorer allows you to manage your device from your computer. For some phones, charging mode is turned on by default when connected to a computer. You can bypass it when the screen is turned off, broken, or the touch screen is not working by pressing the f1 key. We get into the file system and copy images, phone book and other data up to SMS

SMS

To restore and copy SMS messages and call logs, there are applications such as SMSBackup & Restore (download on google-play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&hl=ru) , CallLogsBackup (download on google-play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.softrelay.calllogsmsbackup&hl=ru) . These programs will help you recover SMS messages on your phone if they are lost and make backup copies if your phone begins to malfunction and there are fears that it may completely break down at any moment. These programs are also convenient to use when changing your phone: you will still have access to all correspondence.

To copy data, you can use the androidscreencast remote control program http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/. It is installed on the computer. To use you need to connect your phone via USB. The program makes it possible to save all data stored in the phone's memory.

OTG cable

If the phone's sensor does not work, you can regain control by connecting a mouse via an OTG cable. Instead of reacting to touches, the phone will respond to mouse clicks.

Device won't sync

If the phone turns on and off cyclically, or turns on, but the computer does not see it
- turn to the advanced launch mode. We insert the microSD card, hold down the power and volume up buttons, go to the Systemrecovery menu, select the backupuserdata line and copy the data to the microSD card.

If phone:

  • turned off and won't turn on
  • not charging,
  • Charging is in progress, but when disconnected from the power, the phone immediately turns off (in this case, you urgently need to copy all the necessary data from the device).

Try changing the battery. If it doesn’t work, then a full diagnosis is needed.

Also, firmware or non-licensed updates can cause malfunctions in the phone's operation, including the inability to use the device. In this case, there are quite a lot of options for causes and consequences and it is better not to take risks and contact the service.

There are times when a phone cannot be repaired, but the data stored on it is needed. The most radical way: desolder the memory chip. This is a complex procedure that requires specialized equipment. Also, after removing the chip to copy information, it must be installed in a working device.

In principle, all phone breakdowns can be divided into two categories:

  1. Damage to the software (malfunction, low-quality/unlicensed firmware, virus, etc.)
  2. Hardware failure (crashed, drowned, touchpad turned off, screen does not light up, microcircuit burnt out, etc.)

In some cases, the first category of reasons can be dealt with at home, without having any special skills in repairing phones. The latter most often require special knowledge and experience. If the phone malfunctions after falling or falling into water, then most likely the problem is in the hardware. But the screen that refuses to turn on raises questions. It is often difficult to understand whether the root of the problem is a software failure or physical damage. High-quality diagnostics will help you decide.

Our service center has been working with all types of breakdowns and damage for many years. Not only our extensive experience, but also advanced equipment helps us determine the cause and bring the device back to life. You can order only diagnostics and, based on its results, decide: leave the phone in service, or try to solve the problem yourself.
