Today for you is an excellent translation of an article about four popular plugins for a WooCommerce based store. In addition to the text itself, four training videos are also available. The videos are of course not in English, but given the detailed texts, I’m sure it won’t be too difficult to understand. Happy reading.

At the time of writing this instructional article, the plugin has been downloaded a total of 1,471,547 times. Today alone, according to WordPress.org, it has been downloaded 3,981 times.

It's no secret that thanks to this plugin, the popularity of WordPress has increased noticeably, as small business owners have the opportunity to independently create professional websites for e-commerce. Owners of physical stores, who just a few years ago could not afford the services of a website development company, are now selling their products online with using WordPress and WooCommerce.

New WordPress themes and add-ons (paid and free) for WooCommerce are created every day. This review focuses on four free extensions for Woocommerce, which I believe will benefit many commercial sites. To get more specific, I'm going to introduce the free plugins you need to add videos to product pages, customize pages without writing or changing code, display sale price tags, and add a button to switch between a grid and a list in a product catalog.

Let's start by introducing an extension that will definitely increase sales conversion through the use of video.

Adding Video to Your Product Catalog Pages with the WooCommerce HTML5 Video Plugin

Imagine yourself as the owner of an online store that sells surfboards. What is the best way to format product descriptions so that after reading them, your visitors quickly turn into your customers? First of all, you need to write clear descriptions for products, since they are key factor, especially from an SEO optimization point of view. Nice pictures products are also necessary for surfboards to sell like hotcakes. In any case, this is where many online store owners stop - brief description, full description, images and that's it.

But, what if you want to be one step ahead and do something that your competitors usually don't do. I'm talking about adding video to product description using the WooCommerce HTML5 video plugin...

Now imagine your visitors watching a video of a happy couple getting the most out of life while riding the emerald waves on the surfboards you sell. The video will help create the desired emotional background that will encourage you to click the “Add item to cart” button.

Using the WooCommerce HTML5 Video Add-on

  1. Step one: install the WooCommerce add-on. In the WordPress admin panel, click the Plugins menu > Add new > look for “woocommerce html5 video” > click “Install plugin” > Activate the plugin.
  2. Step two: Paste the video code or upload the video to the site.

We go to the product page> find the product in the description of which we want to add a video and click “Edit”> Scroll down the page to “product information” and there click the “Video” link> see that we can either insert the code video from YouTube, or upload a video from your computer > after downloading the video, refresh the page and see that a video about it has appeared in the product description

Important Note:

If you want to upload a video from your computer, make sure the video is in MP4 or Ogg format

The plugin is compatible with all themes and product types.

Watch the video below to understand how the HTML5 Video plugin improves your website.

WooCommerce Customizer

Many of you know that template files can be overwritten using child theme. By overwriting the theme files, we can easily change any pages of the original WooCommerce template to suit any of our needs. But this method is suitable for advanced WordPress users, since editing the PHP code is required. The beauty of WooCommerce Customizer is that you can change your site without touching its code.

Using WooCommerce Customizer.

  1. Step one: install the WooCommerce add-on. In the WordPress admin panel, click the Plugins menu > Add new > look for “woocommerce customizer” > click “Install plugin” > Activate the plugin.
  2. Step two: go to the plugin settings page and make the necessary settings there.

After activating the plugin, go to WooCommerce > Customizer > here you can change store pages, single product page, checkout page, price tags.

Here's what you can do with WooCommerce Customizer:

  • Add custom “Add to Cart” button text for all product types (shop and product pages only)
  • Change the number of products displayed on a page
  • Change the text title for the “Product Description” and “Additional Information” tabs.
  • Coupon on checkout page/login text
  • Change the text of the “Place an order” button on the “Checkout” page
  • Add your own price tag text

This video will help you understand the WooCommerce Customizer settings

Attractive discounted price tag for products using WooCommerce Smart Sale Badge plugin

This free plugin allows you to significantly enhance the functionality of a regular price tag with a reduced price. The plugin automatically calculates and displays the price of an item on sale, so the buyer can see how much he can save. This trading strategy brings better results than displaying standard price tags, looking at which the buyer does not understand his benefit. The plugin is compatible with all themes and all types of products.

Using this plugin is very simple - the only thing you need to do is install it and activate it. When you put items on sale, the new price tag will show how much you can save by purchasing it at a reduced price, as shown in the screenshot below.

After watching this video you will learn how to use Smart plugin Sale Badge

WooCommerce Grid/List Toggle plugin

This extension will allow your visitors to choose how they view your product catalog. This plugin adds a grid/list toggle button to store pages and product category pages. In most themes, the button is located under a standard drop-down menu with product filters, which, however, can be easily removed so that the site does not look cluttered.

The plugin does not need to be configured, just install and activate.

Watch this video to see WooCommerce Grid / List Toggle in action.

I remind you that you can discuss any questions related to the WooCommerce plugin on this forum. Have a good week and weekend, friends.

Reviews

Moved to woocommerce 1.5ish years ago, thus far it has successfully managed over 20,000 orders. Overall, it is very flexible and offers a LOT of customization with a bit of “clunky” interface. WE use product bundles, composite products/custom scenarios and a few other plug ins to make it work with our site. . . It has LOTS of great features. Rather than try to list all the pluses (there are lots). I will just list the major issues we have found using it day to day. . .
1. Unable to manage / create custom breadcrumbs. This creates issues for customers looking at products that work with multiple categories. The customers get lost navigating a product that works in other categories. Example, product XYZ is selected, the breadcrumbs default to a single location. When the customer wants to go back to the correct category it is no longer available in the breadcrumbs. Suggested fix: Create the same product for each category. . . talk about management nightmare.
2. The customer interface (cart) is very slow to modify. If customer wants to remove an item from the cart, it can take up to 30 seconds to remove the item from the cart. NO: Not a server or performance issue, we have a dedicated server for our Woocommerce driven site.
3. The learning curve is high for more complex product bundling.
4. You will need to purchase a number of plug-ins to make it work with a number of different products. The plug-ins are billed annually. Overall most have been fairly priced. However, when you need Quite a few plug-ins the fees can stack up quickly. The overall cost is still quite a bit lower than most other cards with similar features.
