Do you ever need download or copy the disc to your computer?

For example, you were given a DVD with some files (videos, games, music, documents, etc.) for a while, which you need to quickly return, and you don’t have time to watch everything right away.

Let's say you need to quickly copy one thing from a disk, for example, download a video or game from a disk to a computer. Or you need to copy music from a disk to your computer. Or do you need copy the disk to the computer in its entirety.

Another reason why it may be necessary copy dvd disc to computer, this is if you are going to often use information from the disk. In this case, completely copying the disk to a computer and launching the already copied disk from your PC protects the disk itself and the drive (disk drive) from frequent use.

In addition, the launch speed of files already on the computer is higher than the launch speed of the same files launched from a disk through a floppy drive.

To understand how to copy files from disk to computer I’ll look at this process using two examples different disks. First let's see how to copy disk "" in the operating room Windows system 7, and then we'll figure out how to copy files from another CD in Windows XP.

How to transfer from disk to computer in Window 7

So, first, let’s look at copying the “Osteochondrosis – No” disc in Windows 7.

That's why this article is also an additional help-instruction for my clients who buy the version of the course on physical disk and who need to download the disk to their computer for easy study.

Insert the disc into the drive. Go to the Start menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Explorer:

On the left side of Explorer we find the disk that was inserted into the drive and click on it with the left mouse button. A list of all folders and files located on the disk will appear on the right side.

Now to copy all these files i.e. the entire disk to your computer, you must first select all these files. Let's use hotkeys. To do this, you can simply press the combination on your keyboard:

Thus, we select all files:

Yes, the files are selected.

Now for copying we use another combination of hot keys - :

Thanks to this function, all selected files are temporarily stored by the computer (the computer places them in its Clipboard). And now you need to find a place on your computer where to save all these disk files.

To do this, we create on our computer separate folder, for example, NOT on system disk. Let's call this folder Osteochondrosis:

The process of copying the disc to your computer will begin:

If the copying process has not started, it means that the copy functions using hot keys did not work on your computer. In this case, use the copy functions using the mouse, as shown below on the example of another drive in Windows XP.

After the disk files have been copied to the computer, the disk can be unloaded from the drive - the disk is no longer needed.

That's it for copying the disk!

Now you can run the copied disk on your computer by simply clicking on the autorun.exe file. The course menu will appear for studying it without a physical disk:

How to download video from disk to computer

There may be a need to copy a disc not as a whole, but as individual parts of it, for example, you just need to copy some video from the disc or some music, and then view or listen to it on your computer or on your mobile device (phone, tablet, etc.). P.)

To do this, you also need to start the disk, and through Explorer find the desired folder on the video disc. Next you need to select necessary videos or music files, simply holding down the Ctrl button on the keyboard and clicking on the desired video files.

Select the required videos, right-click on any selected video file and continue Copy:

Thus, these files are stored by the computer in Clipboard.

All that remains is to create a separate folder on your computer and paste the copied videos there using , or right-click and select in the window that appears Insert:

The selected files will be copied to this folder on your computer.

We looked at the process of copying both the entire disk “” and individual videos to a computer running Windows 7 operating system.

Now let's look at similar copying of another disk in Windows XP.

How to copy a DVD disc to a computer in Windows XP

The process of copying a disk to a computer in Windows XP is the same, only now we will additionally consider how to use not the keyboard hot keys, but use the mouse.

On the left side of Explorer we find the disk that was inserted into the drive (as shown in the picture below).

Since the Explorer screen is divided into two parts, you can clearly see the contents of the disk and select the necessary (or all) files on this disk to copy them to your computer. The left side displays the contents of the disk folders, and the right side also displays the files:

To select all files for copying, left-click just below last file and holding this left button mouse, we select files upward to the first file until all files are selected (as can be seen in the picture above).

Thus, all these files are placed in the computer's "temporary memory" (Clipboard). Now you need to decide where to paste (copy) these files on your computer.

Create a separate folder to copy the disc to your computer.

In my case, on drive D I created a folder DISKS in which I have different disks, copied earlier. And now I created another one in it: Confident user PC:

Now in this folder I right-click and in the window that appears, left-click on: Insert.

Copying files from the CD begins, which becomes clear from the operation of the drive (it made noise when reading information) and the window that appears:

After copying is completed, the copied files will already be on the computer and you can unload the disk from the drive.

You can now launch the disk on your computer by clicking autorun:

That's all! If you need to download a disc to your computer or copy some files from a disc, for example, from 5 films that are on the disc, you need to copy two of them, then, while holding down the Ctrl button on your keyboard, select necessary files left mouse button.

After selection, release the Ctrl button and right-click on any selected area. In the appeared additional menu select: Copy. Well, you already know the rest!

As you can see, the process of copying or downloading a disc to a computer, whether in Windows 7 or Windows XP, is very simple. You can follow the same principle if you have a different operating system.

You just need to launch the disk, select all or some files, copy them and paste them into the desired folder on your computer.

The variety of modern formats and video storage media has led to a situation where a user engaged in video editing, either out of necessity or on a regular basis, needs to master several ways to record films and clips. When using a professional video editor, these operations will not cause difficulties for a beginner.

How to transfer video from disk to computer

Insert the DVD disc into the drive of your computer/laptop, then select from the menu operating system paragraph "My computer" and click on the new drive that appears. Its contents will appear as a file explorer. Select them and click "Copy" (right button mouse), then open the folder where you want to save the video and click "Insert".

Some of the DVDs are protected from direct copying through Explorer; if you encounter an error when performing this operation, then you need to use special utility for video editing.

Download and install new version Pinnacle Studio. has all the functions for working with films of any format. In the menu that opens, click on the icon "Add DVD", then in the drop-down menu – add a DVD disc. The film will be loaded into the utility, then through the tab "Create" you can convert it to any convenient format.

How to transfer video from cassette to disc

To record a movie from analog type media, that is, a cassette, you will need to use a special device - a TV tuner. It should be noted that purchasing it is quite expensive, and mastering it can take quite a while. long time. It’s more rational to digitize a tape in a video store, and even better, to master simple methods

Video saved from a tape is also recorded to disk through the “Create” tab of the Pinnacle Studio main menu. Select an item "Create DVD", the utility offers you to choose from several menu options. Double-click on the option you like, then enter new data. Then the “Select disc to burn” window will open. Insert a blank DVD into your PC and select it from the drop-down menu.

Please note that you can create ISO image and introduction additional settings: video type, screen resolution (it’s better to choose 16:9), quality (high (9000 Kbps, AC3 Stereo)). Click "Further", wait for the recording to finish.

IN in this case you need to combine the knowledge gained from the first and second parts of this article. That is, load the file from disk into an analogue of Pinnacle Studio, then improve it through the tab "Edit" - "Improvements", setting new values for brightness, contrast, saturation. The program, through the “Add” attachment, offers to mount titles, new photos and screensavers.

Same as in the second part, select "Create" and record the film on new disk. The duration of the burning process depends on the length of the video and installed settings quality. Typically in less than 10 minutes your new DVD is ready to watch. Enjoy what you made with your own hands.

Copy your disc to your computer. The first step is to copy the data from the DVD to your computer for further processing. To do this, you will need a DVD ripping program. Programs such as free utilities, and commercial software are available on the Internet. For our purposes it will be enough free program. These versions are not as functional and the controls are not as convenient, but they get the job done. But, if you are an advanced user and you need to make a copy of your library of hundreds of disks, consider purchasing a paid program.

  • File compression (also known as transcoding). Many films are 9 gigabytes or more in size. The capacity of regular DVDs sold in stores is 4.7 gigabytes. In this regard, you have 2 options: the film can be compressed or it needs to be split into 2 parts and each part separately recorded on disk. Splitting a DVD into 2 parts is a more complex process, plus your movie will be on 2 discs, which creates some inconvenience, so it is recommended to compress movies. Again, for this you will need the appropriate software. Once you have it, the next steps will be very easy.

    • In the compression settings of your video file, you will see several different codecs (the codec determines what type of file you will get as an output - mpg, avi and others). Using the codec settings, the quality level is determined, but the higher the quality level, the more file. When copying DVDs, it is not advisable to compress them too much, as the video will be too grainy. If you plan to watch the video on big screen- choose a higher quality codec, even if the file takes longer disk space. Quality settings are usually arranged in descending order of quality, that is, settings with high quality are at the top, and those with low ones are at the bottom.
  • Write it down compressed file to a blank DVD. By writing the file to HDD computer and compressing it to such an extent that it fits on a DVD, launch your disc burning program, insert a blank DVD and start the burning process.

    • When buying blank discs in a store, make sure you choose the right one DVD type. Check what types of discs your DVD drive can handle (this is often indicated on the front panel of the drive, otherwise look at the properties of the drive, its documentation, or search for information on the Internet). Check if it works with DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD-R, DVD-RW discs, or (usually) supports all specified disk types. Once you're sure the disc fits, insert it into the drive, launch your disc burning program, select which file you want to burn, and begin the burning process.
  • Video editors, converters, DVD recording.
    Program overview

    DVD copying. Program DVDFab

    The task of copying DVD arises quite often, and therefore, we are offered great amount programs to solve it. There is, of course, nothing complicated in the DVD copying process, but there are many nuances... and not every program can satisfy our, sometimes most exotic, desires. For example, copy selectively movies from a DVD9 disc to a DVD5 disc, while quickly compressing the files to reduce the volume, with or without the original menu, remove subtitles and support for multiple languages, copy several movies from different DVDs to one, remove various copy protections and etc. etc.

    Most of these DVD copying problems are successfully solved by the DVDFab program from Fengtao Software Inc. However, let me first remind you of two points:

    1. A DVD may have one or two working sides and one or two working layers on each side. The capacity of the disk depends on their number, which is rounded and indicated by the number after the abbreviation DVD:
      DVD5 - 1-sided 1-layer (4.7 GB),
      DVD9 - 1-sided 2-layer (8.5GB),
      DVD18 - 2-sided 2-layer (17GB).
    2. At strong compression source DVD, for example, when recording DVD9 onto a DVD5 disc, the quality will be this... more precisely, there will be no quality at all. So you shouldn’t follow the path of pirates who manage to place a dozen full-length films on a DVD5 disc.

    So, let's see what the program can do DVDFab:

    • copy the entire DVD with menus and trailers;
    • copy only the film with optional audio tracks and subtitles;
    • copy protected DVDs;
    • copy DVD9 to two DVD5 without loss of quality, all films in full or selectively;
    • compress DVD to reduce volume, for example, to burn movies from DVD-9 to DVD-5;
    • copy selectively movies from different sources onto one DVD;
    • create an exact bit-by-bit copy of a DVD;
    • convert a movie to MPEG-4/DivX/AVI/MP4/WMV and other formats for viewing on various mobile devices: iPod, iPhone, Sony Play Station3 and others.

    Program DVDFab Available in three variants: Platinum, Gold and HD Decrypter (Reduced). Only last option free, it only allows you to copy DVDs without any modifications, which is not at all interesting. Platinum costs $20, and you get access to all the features of the DVD ripping program. Free download for 30 days trial version DVDFab 5 Platinum .

    We choose, of course, the Platinum option (version 5.0.4.0). The program size is 18.3 MB, works with Windows Vista/XP/2000/98/ME (32-bit/64-bit).

    After starting the program, go to the settings menu (the button with a checkmark in the right top corner working window of the program) and in the section General(General) in line Language select the Russian language - Russian (Russia). The description of the program could have ended here, since it is well-Russified, contains many tips, and working with it is a pleasure. Just purely out of love for the art of copying discs, I will go over the main points.

    In the same section General(General) it makes sense to uncheck the lines “Move icon to system tray when minimized” and “Add to startup menu”. Everything else can be left unchanged.

    As stated, the program allows you to bypass most copy protections. Here is a heart-warming screenshot of this section of the program settings - Fig. 1:

    Fig.1. Settings for removing DVD copy protection in DVDFab

    If you wish, you can look at the settings section DVD - Recording and set recording parameters that are convenient for you, for example, auto-erasing rewritable discs, data verification and ejecting the tray at the end of recording, etc.

    Of course, if you don't want to bother and leave all the default settings, then the result of ripping DVD will be almost the same as with the most fine tuning all parameters.

    Go! If you just want to make a copy of the film, then select the item in the menu Entire disc, insert the original DVD into the tray and press Start. But this is boring and uninteresting, since the main thing is the process, not the result. Therefore, in the working window of the program, select the item Main movie(Fig. 2), and after a while the program displays information about the DVD being copied:

    Fig.2.

    In this case, we see that the film is recorded on a double-layer DVD-9 disc, its duration is 3:46:58, it consists of 58 chapters, has a volume of 7928 MB, languages and subtitles are supported in Russian and English. In the preview window you can select the fragment of interest. If, for example, a TV series is recorded on the disc, then the preview allows you to quickly find the desired series for selective recording, which we will talk about when describing the tool Modification.

    Next, we choose which copy we want to receive. For example, if you try to compress this film for recording onto a single-layer DVD-5, removing all subtitles and English language audio accompaniment (to do this, just uncheck the corresponding items), we get quality: 60% (7163MB -> 4300MB). Depending on the quality of the source, the result of compression may be quite acceptable, or it may only be suitable for viewing in a car on a 3-inch screen: you can follow the plot, but no more.

    The best option- don’t skimp and record the film on a double-layer DVD-9 disc, and if you’re really tired of it, you can copy it onto two regular DVD-5 discs, which is about 3-4 times cheaper. To do this, select the item Separation and program DVDFab immediately displays the parameters for this DVD copying option - Fig. 3:

    Fig.3. Options for splitting a DVD-9 movie into two DVD-5s

    Paragraph Save menu on disk 2 It makes sense to set it if there are several films or parts of a TV series recorded on the source DVD. This will allow you to select the desired tracks on both the first and second discs of the copy. In this case, of course, the menu will remain the same and you can only select material available on the corresponding disc. When you select another menu item while watching, you go to the nearest recorded movie or series.

    If you want to copy only some tracks from a disk, then use the tool Modification- rice. 4:

    Fig.4.

    Everything is simple here: check the boxes for the required series, select the type DVD-5 or DVD-9, press the button Further, and the process began!

    To create a selection of several films from different DVDs on one disc, we use the tool Merge. To do this, in the source column, we sequentially select the desired films from DVD or from folders on the computer’s hard drive - Fig. 5:

    Fig.5. Selecting sources to create a multi-DVD compilation

    If you only have one on your computer DVD drive, then you will first need to copy using DVDFab the necessary fragments to the hard drive by selecting the destination folder on the hard drive in the “Destination” column (Fig. 2). By the way, this method is also convenient when you urgently need to return a DVD. Copy the movie to your hard drive, and then you can safely work with the copy in the program DVDFab.

    When you have finished selecting the fragments to be combined, press the button Further, and the program will display a list created DVD. For example, Fig. 6 shows the combination of two fragments (1 and 5) from a DVD and one from a folder on the hard drive.

    Fig.6.

    Be careful when combining movies so as not to exceed the capacity of the DVD disc. Changing the quality to squeeze everything and more onto one disk should be within reasonable limits and, in general, does not lead to anything good, and the process of compressing the material usually takes a lot of time.

    Tool Copy of DVD on Mobile does not have any special features. You just need to select a gadget from an extensive list, specify the copy source, destination folder and click Further. The program converts the material into required format and writes the file.

    Tools Clone And Write data in a programme DVDFab They are quite traditional and there are no problems when using them.

    Thus, the program DVDFab Platinum I can safely recommend it for solving most problems of everyday piracy, that is, DVD copying.
