PS4 owners are in for a real treat in 2019, at least in terms of exclusive games. The most significant of them are already preparing for release. In 2019, you definitely won’t regret purchasing the console.
5 years have passed since the release of PS4, and its popularity is still growing. It breaks sales records, which recently exceeded 86 billion consoles (which cannot be said about the Xbox 360). 5 years is quite a long time; there are suspicions that the console will not last more than 2 years. Moreover, there are many rumors and speculations that in 2020 the company will introduce a new model - PS 5.
The wait is at least 2 more years, which means there will be many PS4 exclusive games ahead. Some new products of 2019 are considered the most anticipated in recent years. Naughty Dog studio will finally present a sequel to the zombie action game The Last of Us, and Hideo Kojima promises to release Death Stranding, his first development after leaving Konami. So the new year will pleasantly surprise all PS4 owners.
    Days Gone
    Release date: April 26, 2019
    Developer: SIE Bend Studio
    Publisher: Sony
It may seem like the theme of zombie games has been exhausted, especially since The Last of Us 2 eclipsed most of them. Nevertheless, fans of the genre should definitely visit another post-apocalyptic world. Days Gone is a survival adventure game with horror elements. A former criminal becomes a bounty hunter in a world devastated by a pandemic - an epidemic that has killed almost all of humanity and turned the survivors into zombies. And these zombies are evolving quickly. The peculiarity of Days Gone is the changeable weather conditions, as well as the cycle of day and night, which significantly affects the zombies: in the dark they become faster and more ferocious, as in Dying Light.
    The Last of Us 2
    Release date: 2019
    Developer: Naughty Dog
    Publisher: Sony
Naughty Dog spent the second half of 2018 making trailers for The Last of Us 2, including gameplay for E3. It was so good that some professionals began to claim that it was a fake. The developer reassured fans of The Last of us 2 that the gameplay is real. However, the exact release date is not yet known, only the year is 2019. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world several years after The Last of Us. The girl Ellie has grown up and continues to fight zombies alone.
    Ghost of Tsushima
    Release date: 2019
    Developer: Sucker Punch
    Publisher: Sony
Imagine being the last samurai on the Japanese island of Tsushima during the first Mongol invasion in 1274. This is the intro to Ghost of Tsushima, a 2019 action-adventure game from Sucker Punch. The game takes you into a vast world where, against the backdrop of historical events, you, in the role of samurai Jin, must master a new style of fighting - the “way of the warrior.” Your mission is to defeat the Mongols in the fight for the freedom of your people.
    Death Stranding
    Release date: 2019
    Developer: Kojima Productions
    Publisher: Sony
Despite the fact that nothing is known yet about the release date of the Death Stranding game, it will 100% appear in 2019. There is unprecedented excitement around it, because this is Hideo Kojima’s first game after resigning from Konami. From the trailers and teasers, the game seems confusing and overly complicated. However, true fans are looking forward to seeing Death Stranding, especially considering the celebrities involved in it - Norman Reedus, Guillermo del Toro, Mads Mikkelsen and Lindsay Wagner. The plot revolves around the theme of life and death, but the details remain secret for now.

Sony has released a free application for playing media content on PlayStation 4, supporting popular audio and video formats. This was reported on the company's official blog.

A new program called “Multimedia Player” has appeared in the main menu for all PlayStation 4 users. To install it, you do not need to update the console firmware: you just need to download an application of less than 20 megabytes.

The program allows you to play files both from an external USB drive (including flash drives and hard drives) and from a media server, which can be a home computer.

The application supports the most popular video formats (MPEG-2 TS, MP4, AVI and MKV), audio (MP3 and M4A) and photo (JPEG, BMP and PNG). As The Verge notes, this will turn the console into “an ideal device for playing pirated content from torrents.”

For Russian-speaking users, the player is less convenient: it does not yet support switching audio tracks and subtitles. In addition, for the system to “see” the file, it must be placed in a folder (they cannot be played from the root directory).

Microsoft's Xbox One received MKV support back in August 2014. From the very launch, the company promoted the console as a multimedia player for watching movies and TV.

However, Sony was in no hurry to add such functions to its console, promoting it exclusively as a powerful device for games. However, in its official blog, the company noted that a video player was one of the most popular requirements for the console.

After the release of “Multimedia Player” on the PlayStation 4, you can watch movies online using the game console. With a powerful browser installed on the console, video files can be viewed from virtually any site that consumers use on personal computers and laptops.

In order to start a video, just go to any website through your browser and start the movie or video in standard mode. It is worth noting that some sites provide data using Javascript or Flash technologies, which the PS4 developers cut down on the console in order to ensure the security of its software. Such video files are opened and also played, but not in full screen mode.

To watch any full-screen video films, manufacturers offer to use the special Film Box Live application, which allows you to use a library of films for a small monthly subscription fee.

    Video from flash drive

The answer to the question of how to watch movies on PS4 from a flash drive is more than simple. In order to watch a video from a flash drive via PS4, it is enough to have an external drive formatted in FAT32. Playing video files from a flash drive occurs in a mode similar to the method of operating an external drive through other computer devices. You just need to connect the flash drive to the standard connector of the device and start the recorded video material.

ADVICE. The FAT32 system allows you to write files weighing no more than four gigabytes. Today, most high-quality videos carry much more weight. To solve this problem, if you need to record a video with a capacity of more than four gigabytes on an external drive for viewing on a console, the flash drive should be formatted in exFAT format, which supports larger files and is interfaced with a game console.

    Let's sum it up

The question of how to watch movies via PS4 can be solved very simply after installing the universal “Multimedia Player” utility on the device. Viewing video materials is possible both from external drives and via an Internet browser or the standard home protocol DLNA.

Today, the PlayStation 4 console is not only a powerful gaming device, but also has decent multimedia capabilities, which makes it even more popular among consumers.
