Secrets of the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus phone. Information about the type of speakers and audio technologies supported by the device

TFT IPS- High quality liquid crystal matrix. It has wide viewing angles, one of the best indicators of color rendering quality and contrast among all those used in the production of displays for portable equipment.
Super AMOLED- if a regular AMOLED screen uses several layers, between which there is an air gap, then in Super AMOLED there is only one such touch layer without air gaps. This allows you to achieve greater screen brightness with the same power consumption.
Super AMOLED HD- differs from Super AMOLED in its higher resolution, thanks to which you can achieve 1280x720 pixels on a mobile phone screen.
Super AMOLED plus- this is a new generation of Super AMOLED displays, differs from the previous one by using a larger number of subpixels in a conventional RGB matrix. The new displays are 18% thinner and brighter than displays made using the old PenTile technology.
AMOLED- an improved version of OLED technology. The main advantages of the technology are significantly reduced power consumption, the ability to display a larger color gamut, reduced thickness and the ability of the display to bend slightly without the risk of breaking.
Retina-high pixel density display designed specifically for Apple technology. The pixel density of Retina displays is such that individual pixels are indistinguishable to the eye at a normal distance from the screen. This ensures the highest image detail and significantly improves the overall viewing experience.
Super Retina HD- the display is made using OLED technology. The pixel density is 458 PPI, the contrast reaches 1,000,000:1. The display has a wide color gamut and unsurpassed color accuracy. Pixels in the corners of the display are smoothed at the sub-pixel level, so edges are not distorted and appear smooth. The Super Retina HD reinforcing layer is 50% thicker. It will be harder to break the screen.
Super LCD is the next generation of LCD technology, it is characterized by improved characteristics compared to earlier LCD displays. The screens not only have wide viewing angles and better color reproduction, but also lower power consumption.
TFT- A common type of liquid crystal display. Using an active matrix controlled by thin-film transistors, it is possible to significantly increase the performance of the display, as well as the contrast and clarity of the image.
OLED- organic electroluminescent display. It consists of a special thin-film polymer that emits light when exposed to an electric field. This type of display has a large reserve of brightness and consumes very little energy.

ReviewSamsung Galaxy Star 2 plus

The South Korean giant continues to win over the public. Models of the budget series of smartphones continue to arrive on the world market more and more often and in large quantities. And it’s all the fault of the most global company, covering the entire market, which produces most of the devices on the Android operating system. The company's employees, as if following a single thought and a single impulse, each time, again and again, try to surprise, amaze, and sometimes even shock their fans. The company spends a lot of money and time to ensure that their products are always successful in everything. Without sparing any of the competitors, the single team strives to create the ideal product and put it on the market in the form that each owner would like to see it individually.
So this time, Samsung decided to work on the mistakes, namely, by expanding the Galaxy line with another device from the budget series, the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus. Agree, the name of the smartphone is quite loud. You may not agree with me, but the company should be given credit for the fact that it more often than others pleases with the presence of new models in the mid-price category. And she does it quite well. Many critics, speaking about Samsung, judge it simply because the company too often and in huge quantities produces devices that are identical to each other in many respects. After all, this is logical. Samsung is a global giant in the sales of smartphones, tablet computers and other various devices running on the well-known operating system from Google. Therefore, when a giant like Google works again and again to create updates to meet market demand, then Samsung, and in principle everyone else, has to keep up with them. To continue to remain a market leader, you have to sacrifice a lot. And I believe that it was mistakes that taught Samsung to listen to people's opinions. The product that we will talk about today is precisely the result of careful processing, errors, upgrades and everything else that forced the company to once again update the Galaxy line, and launch a more convenient and high-quality product on the market, at the lowest possible price. And it doesn’t matter that the smartphone is a budget device. Indeed, in the shadow of all its flagships, Samsung continues to delight all categories of markets around the world.

Equipment:
Today, all of the company’s devices in this category are supplied in environmentally friendly cardboard boxes, the appearance of the box is decorated in the color of wood. The Galaxy Star 2 Plus was no exception. A seemingly solid, compact box contains inside the device itself, headphones (for a 3.5mm jack), a charger and, of course, small-sized and brief instructions in Kazakh and Russian, since the smartphone is aimed at the Kazakh market. There is also a warranty card from the company.

Device design:

The first impression when you pick up a smartphone is based only on the dimensions of the device itself. If you put the device in the hands of an inexperienced user, then most likely his opinion will be that the device he is holding in his hand is indistinguishable from the company’s expensive models. Samsung did its best here.
Personally, I came across a dark-colored model for review, so I will try to describe it in detail, since photographs of a white smartphone would better show the location of the controls.
So, if we talk about design and layout, and compare with the previous model, then the company did not change practically anything here. There are still three physical buttons at the bottom; the home button is also mechanical. Device dimensions 129.7 x 65.9 x 9.4 mm. There is a hearing speaker on top, and below it is the company logo. Also to the right of the logo there is an inscription (DUOS), indicating that the device has the ability to simultaneously work with two SIM cards. The side edges of the smartphone are designed as follows: on the right side there is a power button, on the left there are two volume buttons, a 3.5 mm headset jack on top, and a microphone and a USB 2.0 connector on the bottom. The side edges of the device are still made of metal-like plastic, which, in my opinion, gives the smartphone excessive dimensions. As for the back side of the smartphone, the company has made quite a few changes that are typical for the company’s more expensive products. Back cover
still made of plastic, but has the appearance of leather, painted dark blue. And the surface is now completely different in sensitivity, which is why the smartphone lies very comfortably in the hand and does not slip off. The camera and polyphonic speaker are still located in their places, on top of the Samsung logo, made, as before, in white. But one of the main features and advantages, in comparison with the previous model, is the presence of a flash. And this, in my opinion, is absolutely impossible, by the way, considering that the camera quality is far from ideal, only 3.0 megapixels.
The lid opens quite simply; the auxiliary hole is located on the left side. The lid itself seemed to me to be of fairly good quality and very durable. Under the cover you can see the material of the device, in gray design. The removable battery is located at the bottom of the smartphone, and the micro sim slots are located above it. And lastly, this is a slot for micro SD, it is located above one of the SIM cards, which is only accessible when the battery is removed from the device. I also think the manufacturer miscalculated the fact that he did not install a “latching mechanism” on the SIM slots, since now it is much more difficult to remove the SIM card from the device.

Screen:

The device's screen has fairly typical characteristics for a budget device. This is a TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 480 x 800 pixels, 4.3 inches (density ~217 ppi). On my own behalf, I would like to add that the colors stand out quite clearly and brightly. Perhaps, of course, the whole trick is in the installed Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, which in itself entails the presence of a huge selection of colors. When watching movies and clips, the device performed well, and, in general, I am pleased with the richness of the picture and the clarity of the image. The smartphone can be used to watch videos, both on popular servers and using the device’s memory.

Interface:

As expected earlier, the smartphone received Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS and a proprietary shell from TouchWiz. Along with other devices released by the company over the past three months, the Galaxy Star 2 Plus has undergone virtually no changes. The same bright interface design, and the same colorful icons in the menu bar. However, there are changes; when opening the menu, there is no division into the previous three categories: applications, widgets and downloaded applications. The ability to add widgets to the home screen can now only be done with a long press on the screen. The settings menu has undergone the most noticeable changes. This time, a list is displayed in the form of round icons, designed quite clearly and understandably. As for the notification curtain, the design has been slightly changed, but, in my opinion, the ability for the user to use it has not been finalized. When entering the notification settings, the owner of the new product is unlikely to be happy about something new.
There are also small, quite useful changes to working with the file manager. Now there is a fairly convenient arrangement of file categories and division into device memory and built-in memory. And also at the top there is a convenient icon for searching through files and the status of the device’s memory and memory card.
Compared to the previous Galaxy Star plus model, the second version clearly wins not only due to the presence of physical changes to the device, but mostly due to the accessible, understandable and compact interface that the model in question is endowed with.

Device in operation:

As stated earlier, the smartphone has a single-core 1.2 GHz processor, built-in memory 4 GB, 512 MB RAM, microSD up to 32 GB. The device responds quite quickly to transitions between screens, and freezes only if several applications are loaded on the device at the same time. But since the device is budget, naturally you shouldn’t expect lightning-fast operation and switching between windows. The device, due to its internal filling, is capable of performing only a small number of tasks without damaging the picture. As for using a smartphone for games, there is also the possibility of installing only the simplest gaming applications that do not require large specifications. But when it comes to watching videos and listening to music, there are very few disadvantages; the device, thanks to many fixes, works with many different formats. So for those owners who don’t play very often, the smartphone will be very useful, and the price will pleasantly surprise you.

Camera:

What became a pleasant, at least physical addition to the model, in comparison with the previous one, was the camera. After all, this time the company did not skimp and installed a flash in addition to the 3 MP camera. This is even despite the fact that the smartphone belongs to the budget series of devices. I was also pleased with the button for quickly changing the shooting mode. When the screen is locked, you can quickly enter the device’s camera by clicking on the camera icon in the lower right corner.
As for the photographs, they are of average quality, but thanks to the flash, the quality improves noticeably. In daylight, photo quality remains relatively good. I took a couple of pictures in different lighting, and the camera, judging by the finished photos, performed well when compared with budget cameras on smartphones from other manufacturers. In general, I was pleased with the quality of the photos and the functionality that the camera has when using it.

Autonomous operation:

As for battery performance, there's not much that can be said here. Its capacity is 1800 mAh, which is quite enough if you do not overload the device with games and uninterrupted Internet surfing. The charge will last for about a day. But here, too, everything depends on how often you use the switched-on display and, accordingly, the brightness of the device. But, nevertheless, when watching videos, listening to audio files, the charge should be enough for 6-8 hours of use. And if you use the phone simply as a “dialer”, then you can count on 2 days.

Testing in the AnTuTu benchmark:

I decided to test the device on the popular AnTuTu database server. The results made me very happy. The smartphone performed very well, scoring an average of 7141 points. The results show that the filling is lame, as well as the 2D graphics, but the 3D graphics are normal, in games the picture should look good. The remaining test results are available in screenshots.

Results:

In conclusion, we can say that the device is very good in that it has a fairly large 4.3-inch display, which is not so typical for budget models, and the presence of the latest version of the operating system with the company’s proprietary shell. The hardware of the device is not that weak. A few years ago, such a device would have become an unsurpassed flagship in comparison with those devices that came out earlier. As mentioned before, the device looks quite solid and is practically indistinguishable from the company’s leading smartphones in appearance. And this, of course, is its advantage, since the price of this model is quite low. Agree, it’s nice to use a device with a diagonal size and an operating system that top flagships can boast of.

Pros: 1) Bright 4.3-inch display.
2) Availability of photo flash.
3) Convenient design of the plastic back cover.

Cons: 1) Small battery capacity in relation to the size of the display.
2) Lack of convenient fixation of SIM cards.
3) Doesn't work at 3 G -range.
