New Huawei 10. Huawei p10 lite is an excellent smartphone at a very reasonable price

Every year we become more and more accustomed to high-tech devices, so our requirements for such devices are gradually growing. Mate 10 smartphones are distinguished by their original design, serious technical characteristics and a set of interesting functions.

Huawei Mate 10 smartphone: advantages and features

If you have long dreamed of a device with which you can recreate the effect of full immersion in reality, then you should take a closer look at this particular model from the Chinese brand. The main feature of this device can be called its screen, which has achieved a balance between a sufficiently large display and small frames. Thanks to convenient options, you can fully focus on what is happening on the screen.

If we talk about the advantages of Huawei Mate 10, there are quite a lot of them:

  • fingerprint recognition technology when you click on a special area located on the case cover (it has a high degree of recognition, which makes the device more secure);
  • refined appearance thanks to the slightly rounded shape of the touch screen;
  • small size and weight - the smartphone fits perfectly in the hand, and touching its smooth surface causes a pleasant tactile sensation;
  • The eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor and 4 GB of RAM completely eliminate the possibility of system freezing or slowdown even when running several modern games and applications at the same time;
  • A fairly capacious battery (3340 mAh) allows you to use the gadget for a long time without the need to recharge.

A very important advantage of the Huawei Mate 10 smartphone is its unique screen with a FullView display, which is made using IPS technology. It supports HDR10 mode, so the colors and shades on the screen are reproduced with maximum realism.

All this can be found in the new Huawei P10, which is positioned by the manufacturer as a model with excellent technical characteristics at an adequate price for a top-end smartphone. Read our Huawei P10 review to find out what other features have appeared in the new Huawei flagship, and we also invite you to evaluate it.

Price and main characteristics

Huawei P10 is available in two versions with 32 and 64 GB of internal memory. The price of the younger model at the start of sales is $550, the second option will cost $622.

Specifications:

Display: 5.1”, IPS FullHD 1920*1080 px, 432 ppi;
processor: Huawei Kirin 960 (2.4 GHz) + Mali-G71 MP8 video accelerator;
RAM: 4 GB;
internal memory: 32/64 GB + microSDXC flash cards up to 256 GB;
camera: main, dual – 20 MP, front – 12 MP;
communication: Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BDS, LTE;
battery: 3200 mAh;
Dimensions – 145.3x69.3x6.98 mm, weight – 145 grams.

Out of the box, the P10 runs on the latest version of Android 7.0.1 with the EMUI 5.1 shell.

Equipment and appearance

The package includes the smartphone itself, a charger, a USB Type-C cable, headphones, a clip for unlocking the SIM card tray, a plastic bumper and documentation. A very solid set is packaged in a box with an original design. It opens into two parts like a traveling bag.

Huawei P10 is sold in eight color variations. A bold design decision, considering that flagships usually have two or three color options.

The design of the P10 is significantly different from its predecessor. Its shape reveals the features of the iPhone 7. If you do not take into account the company logo on the back panel and the Leica designation near the camera, the phone can easily be confused with Apple's flagship.

The resemblance to the famous brand clearly played into Huawei’s hands. P10 looks expensive and solid. It has become a little thinner than the previous version of the P9, while the smartphone fits just fine in the hand.

The front side of the smartphone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with a 2.5D effect. According to the manufacturer, it should withstand strong mechanical loads without problems. An original protective film is glued on top of Gorilla Glass, which does not have much practical value - the film becomes covered with scratches and becomes unusable quite quickly.

After removing the film, you can discover another unpleasant fact. The P10's screen is not covered with an oleophobic layer, which is extremely strange for a flagship smartphone. The display collects fingerprints; the glass must be constantly wiped with a cloth.

If you often carry your phone in your pocket with other metal objects, the paint layer on the back will gradually wear off. The P10 is easy to scratch, so be sure to use a silicone case.

The 5.1-inch display is surrounded by a thin bezel. It is practically invisible. Something can be distinguished by looking closely at the bend of the glass. Below the screen is a fingerprint scanner, which is integrated into the multifunction touch key.

The earpiece, front-facing 13-megapixel camera with autofocus sensor and LED event sensor are built into the top of the front panel.

On the right side there is a volume rocker, just below the screen activation button. The latter has a red edging and corrugation. The color of the frame may differ in another design of the smartphone.

On the left is a combined slot for two SIM cards or one microSDXC card with a SIM card. The tray can be unlocked using a paperclip key. The bottom end has a USB Type-C port, a multimedia speaker, a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones and a main microphone. The noise reduction system includes another microphone located on top of the smartphone.

At the back is the main “trump card” of the P10 – a dual 20-megapixel camera from Leica, a well-known manufacturer of professional photographic equipment. Just to the right of the cameras are the focus sensors, dual-component flash and Summarit lens markings. Below is the Huawei logo.

The back cover of the P10 is made of metal, the fields below and above the screen are made of ceramic. The front side of the smartphone is surrounded by a shiny bevel; the body is monolithic. A serious drawback lies in the poor resistance of the rear surface of the case to scratches and abrasions, which can be seen in the photo above. So you will have to carry the P10 in a case.

Overall, the Huawei P10 leaves the impression of an expensive flagship. It is pleasant to use, and due to its similarity to the iPhone, it may even appeal to Apple fans, but we consider such disadvantages as the scratchy case and the lack of an oleophobic layer to be critical.

Screen

P10 is equipped with a 5.1-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels. Pixel density – 432 ppi. It is almost impossible to see individual pixels even from the closest distance. The picture on the screen is bright, juicy, with an adequate color temperature. At large viewing angles, the image on the display is almost not distorted.

Multitouch accepts a maximum of 9 touches; no problems in the operation of the sensor appeared during the test.

The display of Huawei P10 has a huge reserve of brightness. For everyday use, 30-40% of the maximum value is quite enough. What is happening on the screen is clearly visible both in bright light and when reading at night. By the way, the device has an eye protection mode. It minimizes eye-harming ultraviolet radiation.

In the display settings, you can change the color scheme and increase the sensitivity of the sensor for working with gloves.

Performance

The hardware of Huawei P10 is one of the most modern platforms today. The eight-core Huawei Kirin 960 processor with a maximum clock frequency of 2.4 GHz, the Mali-G71 MP8 graphics accelerator and 4 GB of RAM show very high results in performance tests (about 140,000 in Antutu).

Internal storage can be in two versions - 32 or 64 GB. Considering the relatively small difference in cost, when purchasing it is better to take a closer look at the older version. The good hardware of the P10 is combined with the proprietary EMUI 5.1 shell in Android 7.0 OS, ensuring trouble-free operation of the device’s interface. There is a multi-window mode; running several applications at the same time is also not a problem for the P10.

The smartphone passed the gaming test perfectly. In Doodle Jump, the P10 sensors responded instantly to changes in position in space; WoT Blitz produces stable 50-60 frames per second at high settings.

Under heavy, prolonged load, the P10 begins to heat up a little. This affects performance tests, the phone reduces power to avoid overheating the processor.

Camera

The P10 cameras are, on paper, some of the coolest cameras on the market. The module design was developed by the German company Leica, which has been producing professional-grade cameras for almost a century.

Huawei P10 is equipped with two main cameras at once - a 12-megapixel with an RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel with a monochrome sensor. When capturing a frame, sophisticated laser, phase detection and depth autofocus systems are used.

Thanks to the dual camera, you can use the wide aperture mode. It produces great photos with beautiful-looking bokeh (blurred backgrounds). There is optical stabilization, as well as 2x smooth zoom technology.

In the dark, objects in the pictures are illuminated by a dual LED flash. At dusk, the pictures turn out quite well, even despite a significant amount of noise spoiling the detail. To get rid of them, you can experiment with manual mode and long shutter speed shooting, but this will require a tripod.

The front 8-megapixel camera with autofocus is head and shoulders above most main cameras on Chinese smartphones. Selfies can be immediately improved (finishing facial tone, removing minor imperfections) in the standard camera application.

You can shoot in PRO mode, where you can manually adjust the main parameters: shutter speed, exposure compensation, focus, etc.

The P10 does a good job of recording Full HD and 4K video at 60fps.

If you want to buy a smartphone with an excellent camera, but cheaper than the iPhone 7, the Huawei P10 is definitely your choice. It will please both ordinary users and professional photographers.

Speaker, sound quality

It’s impossible to find fault with the performance of the main and conversational speakers. The first gives a good volume reserve without distortion, normal bass and high frequencies. The second allows you to comfortably talk with your interlocutor in almost any conditions.

The standard headphones included in the package also pleased me. They are quite suitable for listening to music, without claims to audiophile quality; certain aspects of the sound can be adjusted using the built-in equalizer and get a very good sound.

Battery

The P10 uses a 3,200 mAh battery with SuperCharge fast charging. In normal mode, the battery can last about a day. In energy saving mode, you can try to squeeze out as much as two days.

To achieve maximum operating time, you can change the screen resolution or limit the processor performance. A stress test with the game on, Wi-Fi and the screen at maximum brightness drained the smartphone in about 3 hours.

Communication and Internet

Huawei P10 supports work in all Russian LTE networks. Data transfer occurs at a very fast speed. To optimize this process, you can use Wi-Fi+ mode. It combines traffic from LTE and Wi-Fi. There is a Bluetooth interface.

GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou satellite systems are used for navigation. The device finds the desired satellite in about 15-20 seconds on a cold start.

Video review of Huawei P10

Competitors, conclusion

Testing the Huawei P10 leaves only pleasant impressions, from good design to high performance. I was pleased with the variety of colors, which makes the phone stand out against the background of standard gray monoblocks from other manufacturers.

Even the most picky users will be satisfied with the capabilities of the P10 cameras. Advanced photography modes and the ability to record high-quality video in 4K raise the smartphone to the same level as flagships from Apple and Samsung. Still, the Leica brand played a role.

But we couldn’t do without “BUT”. Disadvantages such as the lack of an oleophobic coating and the fragility of the paint on the back cover, despite all the advantages of the device, cast doubt on the purchase of the P10.

The main competitor is the 2016 flagship from Samsung. The Galaxy S7 benefits from water resistance, wireless charging, QHD resolution and a Super AMOLED display. The cost of the two devices is approximately comparable.

If you sacrifice a little performance, you can get a cool camera, almost inferior to the P10, and impressive battery life. As an option, you can consider a perfectly balanced flagship without significant drawbacks at a more attractive price.

Huawei Mate 10 review more...

  • Premium design;
  • High quality camera;
  • Powerful chipset;
  • There is no complete waterproofing;
  • EMUI is not for everyone;
  • Does not support wireless charging;

Huawei Mate 10 was announced in the shadow of Mate 10 Pro. More details: .

It has a lower price, a slightly sleeker design, doesn't offer waterproofing, and doesn't have an OLED panel. As a result, he can be seen as the inexpensive, forgotten brother.

Huawei isn't helping it by releasing the original Mate 10 in select markets, while the flagship Huawei Mate 10 Pro has become more affordable.

For most users, the Mate 10 might be a better choice. In fact, for a certain type of user, it may be the best smartphone currently on the market.

Bold statement, but hear us out.

The Huawei Mate 10 has the same camera as the powerful Mate 10 Pro, and it's a very competent camera with f/1.6 lenses. The smartphone is also powered by the all-new Kirin 970 chipset, which is full of the latest components.

Add to the mix a 4,000mAh battery, a very sizable 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot - the latter of which are not available on the Pro model - and the call for a vanilla Mate 10 quickly becomes clear.

It also stacks up well against non-Huawei competitors. The phone has almost the same memory configuration and resolution as the C, as well as the LG V30.

The glass back panel in a metal frame also gives the design a high-end feel to the devices, like the , while the price undercuts most competitors other than the .

Add to this list a pre-installed screen protector and a soft case to protect the touchpad in the box, all for $710 / 42,500 rubles. The Huawei Mate 10 is also a value proposition given the current flagship climate - at least on paper.

Huawei Mate 10: Price and Availability

  • Shipment to retail stores on November 15th;
  • Price Huawei Mate 10 – $710 (42,500 rubles);

Confirmed for Russia, Australia, China, Egypt, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, UAE and other select markets, despite wide availability, the new Mate 10 is not planned for release in the UK or US.

Better than Mate 9?

  • Large 5.9-inch QHD display;
  • Dual camera with f/1.6 lens;
  • New Kirin 970 chipset;

Huawei Mate 10 is the true successor. It has the same screen size and almost identical proportions.

Gaining momentum, the new phone is moving from an all-metal design to a combination of glass and metal, resulting in a high quality and clean design.

Huawei Mate 10 also increases the screen resolution from Full HD to QHD, while maintaining the screen size and proportions of the 5.9-inch panel with a 16:9 ratio, which significantly improves the sharpness of the display.

The camera is also growing in quality, with lenses having an f/1.6 aperture.

Huawei has integrated AI components into its camera user interface, offering a smart scene detection feature that it claims understands how you shoot and fine-tunes the photo.

Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro also come with the latest version of Android, bundled with EMUI 8, Huawei's user interface.

The smartphone can stream the image to a TV or monitor to create an EMUI desktop, all in the style of Samsung DeX / Microsoft Continuum, which supports keyboard and mouse input.

Rounding out the list of key features is a 4,000mAh battery, an IR sensor for TV remote control functions, 64GB of internal storage and a MicroSD slot, the Mate 10's specs are very good.

Design and display

  • Large smartphone with premium design;
  • Splash-proof but not water-resistant;
  • Sharp screen, but not as good as its competitorsOLED;

The new trend of metal frames and glass panels has finally reached Huawei Mate, the new Mate 10 is a great example of this.

The front part is occupied by a screen with an impressive display-to-body ratio of 81.6%. Below the screen is a fingerprint scanner, above it is the front camera and speaker, and on the right side are all the buttons.

They perform great and offer excellent tactile feedback with a satisfying click so you know exactly when you've pressed the button. The base houses the bottom-firing speaker and USB-C port, while at the top you'll find a 3.5mm headphone port and an IR blaster.

The headphone port is one of the areas where the Huawei Mate 10 is ahead of many, including the Mate 10 Pro, Google Pixel 2 XL and even . Unlike the ones mentioned above, the Mate 10 also has a MicroSD card slot so you can expand your storage capacity.

You'll find Gorilla Glass on the back of the Mate 10. The glass is curved on both axes, so the smartphone fits comfortably in your hands, despite its size.

It also offers decent grip and feels exceptionally smooth.

Unsurprisingly, glass is a fingerprint magnet, especially on darker phone models, so if you want protection from dirt, use the soft case that comes in the box with your phone.

The Huawei Mate 10 also comes with a pre-installed screen protector, so Huawei is confident that you won't have to invest extra money in accessories to keep your phone safe.

There's no real waterproofing, so the Mate 10 won't tolerate water, but its certified IP53 rating means you can use it in the rain without turning your phone into an expensive brick.

As for the screen, you have a 5.9-inch QHD IPS LCD display. 5.9 inches may sound smaller than the Mate 10 Pro's 6-inch screen, but given the Mate 10's more traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, it's actually a larger smartphone with a larger screen.

The result is a larger screen panel than on the Mate 10 Pro and other 6-inch 18:9 devices like the Pixel 2 XL and LG V30.

The IPS panel technology on the Mate 10 is backed by HDR10, which promises stunning colors and greater dynamic range when viewing supported content.

While the picture is great, the quality can't compete with the likes of the Mate 10 Pro with its OLED technology.

Despite this, viewing angles are very good, and the display brightness reaches 730 nits.

Battery life

  • Large 4000 mAh battery lasts more than a day;
  • No wireless charging;

With a 4000mAh battery, it's no wonder the Huawei Mate 10 lasts so long.

The Mate 10's battery isn't as durable as the Mate 10 Pro's. It comfortably lasts until the end of the day under the regular use conditions of our review, and even leaves you with about 15-25% of energy for short gaming.

However, despite the potential screen brightness of 730 nits, you'll definitely want to keep an eye on the settings, sticking to automatic brightness if possible so you can use the smartphone for more than a day.

Huawei also offers a variety of power-saving settings, ranging from traditional modes that suppress background processes to resolution scaling, so you can switch the user interface to 1080p or 720p resolution, thereby reducing the load on the chipset and battery.

Note, however, that there is no wireless charging, which is included in a growing number of high-end smartphones.

Camera

  • Dual rear camera;
  • Strong light output in poor light conditions;

Huawei Mate 10 Pro has two cameras, one of which is a 12-megapixel (RGB) sensor coupled with optical image stabilization (OIS). The second camera is a 20-megapixel black and white (monochrome) sensor and without OIS.

The cameras are backed by f/1.6 aperture lenses, a first for a dual-camera smartphone.

The combination is identical to the cameras found on the Mate 10 Pro, and you should be able to get great photos in low-light conditions based on the numbers.

Fortunately for Huawei, the numbers are confirmed, with image processing and detail, the camera performs well in medium to low light conditions. While grain is present in images, the Mate 10 impresses with its good balance of detail and noise reduction.

Photos are taken at a default 12MP resolution and can be enlarged to 20MP thanks to a second monochrome sensor.

Focus and color accuracy are excellent, although in our review the Huawei Mate 10 had a slight tendency to overexpose photos and the dynamic range was worse than the Google Pixel 2 XL, meaning it sits right behind the best flagship cameras on the market.

Detail in macro shots is very good, as is autofocus. If the situation turns out to be difficult, you can use manual focus to solve the problem.

Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro also support the new "AI Zoom" feature. This is a digital zoom that can even outperform the iPhone 8 Plus' optical zoom in certain conditions.

Go beyond traditional shooting modes and the Huawei Mate 10 really comes into its own.

The bokeh effect helps blur the background and provides slightly more flexibility than competing systems once the photo is taken.

There's also full manual photography and video support that starts with 30-second shutter speeds and ends with manual videos up to 4K resolution.

Semi-automatic modes are also worth a look, including a smart night mode that stitches scene instances together to create eerie, dynamic shots.

Light Painting mode turns your smartphone into a pocket-sized multimedia camera, while a useful Documents mode that resizes and renders the right image for documents turns the Mate 10 into a mobile scanner.

The 8MP front-facing camera's results are also good, with our review photos showing a breathtakingly decent amount of detail, and the Beauty mode is back with a vengeance after failing on earlier Huawei devices.

The front camera can also capture video up to 1080p, making the offering competitive, although not class-leading.

Examples of photos taken on Huawei Mate 10:

Interface and reliability

  • Functional but cluttered interface;
  • Work withAndroid 8.0Oreo;
  • Includes a useful operating mode;

Huawei Mate 10 launches with Google's latest version of Android, also known as Oreo. This solution promises you an advantage over most competitors from the very beginning.

Apart from providing access to all Google Play Store apps, Oreo offers support for features like picture-in-picture at the operating system level, not to mention the latest security updates.

Eschewing Google's user interface, Huawei is installing its own skin on Android, EMUI 8.

Among the most customizable smartphone interfaces, it lets you control everything from Home screen transitions to a variety of icons, as well as screen color calibration and navigation bar layout.

If all this sounds interesting to you, it's because Huawei has been stuffing EMUI with fancy features for generations, and EMUI 8 is the culmination of those efforts to date.

The newest addition to the interface introduced in the Mate 10 series is EMUI Desktop. The solution is similar to Samsung's DeX interface for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 range. The main difference between the EMUI desktop is that to activate this feature there is no need for an expensive dock, rather inexpensive USB-C cables for the HDMI channel.

It is not surprising that the solution is less perfect than DeX. Third-party app compatibility and window resizing are not as effective, and support for native apps is more limited.

If we go back to DeX when it came out at the beginning of the year, it was significantly worse than it is now. So while EMUI Desktop isn't a worthy reason to buy the Mate 10, with continued support and obvious improvements from Huawei, it could offer some serious added value in the coming months.

Despite this, the Mate 10 and EMUI are a capable combination, but sometimes the performance is overkill. If you want a simple user interface, the iOS and Android found on the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL feel less clunky.

On the other hand, if you like to tinker with settings, EMUI and Huawei Mate 10 could be the perfect interface and device for you.

Movies, music and games

  • SupportHDR10 means videos will look great;
  • Good speakers;
  • Lots of opportunities for games;

The Huawei Mate 10's screen may look a little dim when you put it next to OLED panels like the ones you'll find on the Galaxy Note 8 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro, but in isolation it's very good. In fact, the display is better than just good - it's great.

The Mate 10's HDR10 technology means that while you're watching HDR content, no matter the provider, be it Amazon Prime Video or Netflix, or pre-loaded video on 64GB of storage or a MicroSD card, the screen outperforms most LCD panels.

Watching standard content also returns decent results, with accurate color reproduction and brightness levels that make outdoor viewing better than most phones. The only area where the phone falls short is when you're looking for high contrast in video dynamics or games. In these cases, the picture is a little blurry.

However, gaming is an absolute pleasure thanks to the powerful Kirin 970 chipset coupled with generous screen capabilities and stereo speakers.

While you have the option to connect headphones using the 3.5mm port, you won't need the audio coming from the phone's speakers, although it's better than single-speaker competitors like the OnePlus 5.

Crank up the volume and the sound doesn't get too harsh at higher levels, making the Mate 10's speakers some of the best on the market right now, roughly on par with the iPhone 8 Plus and slightly worse than the Pixel 2 XL.

Performance and Benchmarks

  • Lots of performance;
  • Competitive assessments;

Huawei talked a lot about AI when it showed off the Kirin 970 at IFA 2017, although it's not the mysterious AI implementation that makes the chipset inside the Mate 10 great for everyday use - it's its pure performance.

Paired with 4GB of RAM, the octa-core Kirin 970 and Mate 10 easily handled split-screen multitasking and high-performance gaming, as well as standard phone UI requests.

The smartphone's comparative scores are quite high, with Geekbench scores ranging between 6039 – 6630, which is the highest score in the Mate 10's price range.

Between the numbers and how the smartphone performs in the real world, it looks like you're getting future-proof performance if you pick up the Mate 10.

Huawei goes one step further by promising that the Mate 10 won't slow down in 18 months, thanks to machine learning. We cannot confirm or deny these claims, as we can only evaluate the performance after a week of intensive review of the Huawei Mate 10.

Summing up

The Huawei Mate 10 is about to become available in Russia and is a great phone that definitely deserves to be reckoned with.

Combining premium design and top-tier specs that easily justify the price, as does the excellent camera setup, it delivers a flagship experience that undercuts many other flagships.

It also offers more flexibility than the Mate 10 Pro, featuring a 3.5mm headphone jack and a MicroSD card slot. In fact, the only thing the Mate 10 lacks is wireless charging and water resistance.

If any of these shortcomings are a reason for rejection, look elsewhere. If not, and you can live with Huawei's Android offering, the Mate 10 may be the better flagship in terms of value for money.

ForwhomHuawei Mate 10?

Huawei Mate is a power user's dream. Costing 42,500 rubles, the smartphone represents a price point that is only a step above the OnePlus 5 and a step below other flagships of comparable power. You can consider it as OnePlus 5 Plus.

Android fans and any user who prefers its user interface to be clean, simple and cutthroat will want to look elsewhere. The lack of water resistance and wireless charging may also turn off potential buyers.

However, if you like a customizable experience, don't need wireless charging or water resistance, and are in the market for a big phone with great specs at a price worthy of the performance and quality of the phone's cameras, the Mate 10 will meet your expectations.

CostsbuyHuawei Mate 10?

The Mate 10 is a flagship phablet that offers great value for money with few downsides.

The fact that the smartphone has a 3.5mm headphone port and a MicroSD card slot is what's appealing to users putting off the iPhone 8 Plus, Google Piexl 2 XL and Mate 10 Pro - all of which involve giving up the aforementioned features for a waterproof design.

It also offers a highly customizable camera experience, falling only slightly short of the Google Pixel 2 XL in regular auto mode, but recovering when it comes to manual modes and photography capabilities.

Perhaps most attractive is the price of the Huawei Mate 10. Costing almost 20,000 less than the Galaxy Note 8, for example, it comes with a case and a screen protector pre-installed out of the box, and you can't help but feel that Huawei offers better value for money.

As a result, if you're looking for a flagship-style device in a large, sleek body, along with decent value for money, and you don't mind giving up wireless charging or waterproof features, the Mate 10 is easy to recommend.

Competitors of Huawei Mate 10:

The Huawei Mate 10 faces competition from more widely available phones like the following three.

HUAWEI MATE 10 PRO

The most obvious alternative to the Huawei Mate 10 is the Mate 10 Pro.

The Mate 10 Pro features larger storage capacity, 128GB versus the Mate 10's 64GB OLED panel, IP67 water resistance rating, and smaller dimensions. The phone offers better battery life and 6GB of RAM instead of 4GB.

On the other hand, the original Huawei Mate 10 has some key advantages: a 3.5mm headphone jack, a crisp QHD display, and a MicroSD card slot.

ONEPLUS 5

The OnePlus 5 offers better value for money as it's a Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone, and its 64GB model undercuts the Mate's pricing by a fair margin.

It can't compete with the Mate 10 when it comes to screen size, resolution, sound quality or battery capacity. It also doesn't have MicroSD, although it does offer a ton of options under the hood and a robust OLED display, making it a great choice for gaming.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S8 PLUS

Available from RUB 40,000, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus competes with a larger screen but offers AMOLED technology in an 18:9 aspect ratio, which puts it ahead of the Mate 10 in terms of size and quality. Where the Mate 10 wins is cost, the Huawei phone will cost you RUB 5,000 less.

Huawei's latest phone also offers a newer version of Android than the S8 Plus, as well as extensive dual-camera setups, but the Mate 10 doesn't have the IP rating that the S8 Plus offers.

The Huawei Mate 10 is a big phone with a great camera, a striking design and a ton of power under the hood. Given its size, the smartphone won't be for everyone, but with very few shortcomings, it's definitely a contender for the best value for large smartphones in 2017.

Perfect!

The Huawei Mate 10 is a big phone with a great camera, a striking design and a ton of power under the hood. Given its size, the smartphone won't be for everyone, but with very few shortcomings, it's definitely a contender for the best value for large smartphones in 2017.

Huawei / Huawei is a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer. At the end of 2017, Huawei accounted for 9.6% of smartphone sales in the world, second only to Samsung (22.8%) and Apple (15.3%). Considering that Huawei's share in the global market is constantly growing, and Apple's share is gradually falling, we can predict that in the coming years, Huawei will overtake the Apple company in sales and will take second place in the world. Unlike many Chinese brands that rely on budget models, Huawei is not afraid to compete with the same Apple and Samsung in the segment of premium models. To increase the appeal of its brand, Huawei is collaborating with already established Western companies: Google (jointly released Nexus 6P), Leica (cameras for flagship models), GoPro (exclusive mobile application Quik for fast video processing).

The following review of the best smartphones from the Chinese brand will help you choose the best Huawei model for purchase in 2019. The top 10 was compiled based on reviews in Yandex Market, technical characteristics and price-quality ratio.

10 Honor 5A

According to laboratory tests, Honor 5X will be able to function non-stop for up to 1.5 days in moderate mode (in intensive use mode - one day). 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 processor.

8 Huawei ShotX 16Gb

The average price is 15,000 rubles. This model scored 56% of fives according to reviews in Yandex Market. Battery capacity - 3090 mAh. 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 MSM8939v2 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner.

The 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash performs the functions of both the main and the front due to the fact that it is installed in a folding module that can be moved from the rear panel to the front. Thanks to this, Huawei ShotX is one of the best selfie phones in the world, because... The front camera on most smartphones is of much worse quality than the main one, and does not have a flash or autofocus.

7 Huawei Nova

6 Huawei P9 32Gb Dual sim

The average price in Russia is 23,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei P9 32Gb Dual sim on AliExpress for 21.5 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The Huawei flagship, which appeared in April 2017, scored 74% of the five stars according to reviews in Yandex Market. There are two main cameras at once. They use 12-megapixel sensors (Sony IMX286), one of which captures the colors of the image being captured, and the second reads monochrome information. The resulting data is then programmatically combined and written to the resulting files. Huawei emphasizes that the famous German camera company Leica took part in the creation of the camera (for example, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev uses a Leica camera). The front camera has an 8 megapixel sensor.

5 Huawei Mate 8 32Gb is the most popular Huawei phone in China

The average price in Russia is 33,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei Mate 8 32Gb on AliExpress for 20.5 thousand rubles. This tablet phone is currently the model with the largest screen from Huawei, as well as the most popular Huawei model in China in 2017 (data from antutu.com). The model has currently scored 72% of fives according to reviews in Yandex Market. Technical characteristics: 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 6.0 operating system, 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, support for a memory card up to 128 GB. Battery capacity is 4000 mAh (this is the most powerful battery in our rating). Main camera 16 MP, front camera 8 MP. 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner.

Mate 8 is Huawei's best in various respects, including price: it is the most expensive, which prevents it from claiming first place in terms of price-quality ratio.

4 Honor 6X 32Gb

The average price in Russia is 14,900 rubles. You can buy Honor 6X 32Gb on AliExpress for 10.4 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The new product of the most popular Honor family appeared in Russia in January 2019 and today has received 59% of five reviews in Yandex Market. Technical characteristics: 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 6.0 operating system, 32 GB of storage (23.40 GB available to the user) and 3 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with a slot for a memory card . Battery capacity - 3340 mAh. At the same time, the phone is equipped with the latest 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 655 processor, so Honor 6X is able to work longer without recharging than many competitors with comparable battery capacity. The manufacturer promised up to 11.5 hours of battery life when watching videos, up to 70 hours of listening to music, and up to 8 hours of gaming. There is a fingerprint scanner. New fingerprint features let you view photos (simply swipe left or right), turn off alarms (press and hold the scanner), take selfies, or make calls with one touch.

Metal body with curved glass at the edges. Eye Protection Mode reduces harmful UV rays from the screen, preventing eye fatigue.

The main thing that attracts attention in Honor 6X is the dual main camera. Huawei was the first to equip its flagships with a dual camera; last year, the 7th iPhone took the baton; however, of the mid-price segment models, only Xiaomi Redmi Pro can boast of a dual camera. Returning to the Honor 6X, we see that the top sensor is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor with phase detection autofocus and LED flash, focusing speed is only 0.3 seconds. This sensor is also distinguished by an increased size of the photosensitive pixel to 1.25 nm with Prim ISP technology for isolating individual pixels. Thanks to this, there is surprisingly little color noise in the pictures and very natural color rendition. The lower monochrome sensor has 2 megapixels. At first glance, this is very little. Even Xiaomi Redmi Pro has a 5 MP secondary module, not to mention the flagship Honor 8, where the second module has the same resolution as the first - 12 MP. However, Huawei explains that a 2 megapixel bottom sensor is quite enough, because its task is to capture as much light as possible, since monochrome matrices are much more sensitive than color ones. The camera combines the light from the lower sensor with the color of the upper one and produces very high-quality photos even in low light conditions. In addition, thanks to the dual camera, Honor 6X can do what the creators of the 7th iPhone boasted about - bokeh (that is, the ability to beautifully blur the background in a photo). There is another interesting feature - selective color filling will allow you to place color accents on black and white photos.

The 8 MP front camera is equipped with a 77° wide-angle lens and a Prim image processor. There is a face detection function. Without autofocus, at the same time, according to reviews, it takes selfies very well.

3 Honor 8 Pro 6GB/64GB

The average price in Russia is 34,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei Honor 8 Pro 64Gb on AliExpress for 27.2 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). When buying in China, you should pay attention to the different model names in different markets: in China it is Honor V9, and in Russia and Europe the same model is sold as Honor 8 Pro.

The new flagship of the Huawei sub-brand went on sale in April 2019. As of today, the model has scored 57% of fives according to reviews in Yandex Market.

Technical characteristics of the model: 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, Android 7.0 operating system, 64 GB of permanent and 6 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with a slot for a memory card up to 128 GB. Battery capacity 4000 mAh. Battery life in talk mode is 16 hours, in gaming mode 3 hours 15 minutes, in video mode 6 hours 45 minutes, in standby mode 453 hours. As we can see, despite the impressive battery capacity, the huge screen plays its role, discharging much faster than with standard screen sizes. So this smartphone cannot be called long-lasting. Eight-core Kirin 960 processor of its own design with Mali-G71 MP8 graphics accelerator. Fingerprint scanner on the back panel.

Unlike the Huawei P9 or Huawei P10, the flagship of the Honor family does not have the Leica logo, and also uses a combination of two sensors: monochrome, which captures light information, and RGB color. The color resolution is 12 megapixels, and the monochrome resolution is also 12 megapixels. Dual LED flash, laser focusing and phase comparison focusing. Aperture f/2.2. The front camera has an 8 megapixel sensor.

In June 2019, the portal hi-tech.mail.ru conducted a comparative test of the cameras of 7 flagship smartphones of 2019, as well as a professional SLR camera Canon 5D Mark II. According to the results of blind tests (when people don’t know what device the photo was taken with and vote for their favorite photo), the Honor 8 Pro won, ahead of the second-place Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Next came the LG G6, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, Canon 5D Mark II DSLR, HTC U11, and in last place was Xiaomi Mi 6. The editors of hi-tech.mail.ru put the Honor 8 Pro camera in second place ( which he shared with HTC U11 and LG G6), giving the first to the Samsung flagship. Such an impressive result of Honor 8 Pro suggests that lovers of mobile photography can take this model without hesitation. And not only for them, because... as much as 6 GB of RAM and a new processor guarantee excellent performance, which will be useful for fans of heavy mobile games.

2 Huawei P10 64Gb - Huawei smartphone with the best reviews

The average price in Russia is 34,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei P10 64Gb on AliExpress for 30.3 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). P10 is the new flagship of Huawei, presented at the Mobile World Congress at the end of February 2019. As of today, the model has scored 80% of the five stars according to reviews in Yandex Market (see reviews of Huawei P10), this is the best indicator in the Huawei smartphone catalog.

Technical characteristics of the model: 5.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 7.0 operating system, 64 GB of permanent and 4 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with a slot for a memory card. Battery 3200 mAh. Eight-core Kirin 960 processor of its own design with Mali-G71 MP8 graphics accelerator. The fingerprint scanner is built into a touch button slightly recessed into the body on the front panel. Huawei P10 is made from a single piece of aluminum.

Cameras on smartphones from the leading Chinese manufacturer Huawei are developing by leaps and bounds: in 2016, the company introduced the world's first smartphone with two main cameras (now this technique is used by Apple and other manufacturers); in 2017, Huawei began collaborating with the famous German camera company Leica ( a Leica camera worth 5 million rubles is used, for example, by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev), and in 2019 Huawei did everything to make the cameras on their smartphones the best in the world, namely, it involved Leica not only in working on a dual main module cameras, but also to work on the front camera. But that’s not all: starting with the P10, Huawei began collaborating with the cult American video camera manufacturer GoPro. As part of the collaboration, GoPro will release an exclusive Quik mobile application for fast video processing for Huawei P10. The video editor will be built into the standard gallery of the EMUI shell. The essence of the Quik app is to combine photos and videos with background music to create a beautiful memorable video. It is worth noting that GoPro has not previously released applications for either Android or iOS.

What happened in the end? The Huawei P10 uses a combination of two sensors with an f/2.2 aperture: monochrome, which captures light information, and RGB color. The color resolution is 12 megapixels, and the monochrome resolution is 20 megapixels. This combination provides the following advantages: the Huawei P10 camera has a 2x zoom without loss of quality, and it also allows you to take pictures with a blurred background - the so-called bokeh effect. There is a special mode developed by Leica specialists in which you can take high-quality portrait photographs using a monochrome sensor. The result of the collaboration between Leica and Huawei on the front camera of the P10 is an 8 megapixel sensor, with which selfies are twice as bright and with a wider dynamic range, even in low light conditions.

The Huawei P10 camera received 87 points on the Dxomark resource, which is 3 points less than the leader HTC U11 and took 7th place. At the same time, in a blind test by hi-tech.mail.ru in April 2019, the Huawei P10 camera took first place, beating models that scored more points in Dxomark, for example, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel. The editors of hi-tech.mail.ru commented on the choice of readers as follows: “The majority appreciated the bright and contrasting pictures, not paying attention to the details” and put the Huawei P10 in 4th place after the Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 (however, there is a difference Huawei P10 and LG G6 accounted for only one point).

1 Honor 8 32Gb

The average price in Russia is 20,600 rubles. You can buy Honor 8 64Gb on AliExpress for 13.8 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The flagship of the Honor family went on sale in China at the end of July, and in Russia at the end of August 2017 and today has scored 78% of the five reviews in Yandex Market. In just over 2 months of the third quarter of 2017, Honor 8 entered the top eight most popular smartphones in China and took second place among the entire catalog of Huawei models (after Huawei P9).

Technical characteristics of the model: 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 6.0 operating system, 32 GB of permanent memory and as much as 4 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with a slot for a memory card. The 3000 mAh battery and Smart Power 4.0 energy-saving technology provide up to 1.77 days of operation under normal use and up to 1.22 days under intensive use. For example, on Honor 8 you can watch online videos for 11 hours straight. 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner.

The model has a dual main camera with laser autofocus, which received two 12-megapixel Sony IMX286 sensors (like the Huawei P9), color and monochrome. The camera allows you to change the focus point after shooting. Professional mode offers customization of the entire set of shooting parameters, just like in SLR cameras. The front camera has an 8 megapixel sensor.

Separately, it is worth noting the design of the smartphone. Without a doubt, this is the most beautiful Huawei smartphone: glass with a mirror effect and 2.5D curve is used on the front and back sides, the side edges are made of metal, and there are also several bright colors.

Honor 8 is slightly inferior to the new flagships Honor 8 Pro and Huawei P10 in terms of technical characteristics, but its cost is one and a half to two times lower (depending on whether you buy the model in Russia or China), so in terms of price-quality ratio, Honor 8 remains the best in the Huawei phone catalog. However, the upcoming start of sales of Honor 9 in July 2019 may change the situation.

As of June 2018, Huawei ranked first in Russia and second in the world in terms of the number of smartphones sold. And this is not surprising, given the rapid pace of development of the Chinese giant concern, focused not only on the mobile segment of the market, but also on the entire range of multimedia products and services. We invite you to take a look at the 10 best models in 2019.

Top Ten

The annual profit of Huawei Technologies exceeds $5 billion, which allows the company to actively develop its own research and development complex, stimulate the full cycle of production of parts and components, and also absorb smaller competitive firms. The result of such vigorous activity was the release of many smartphone models of different prices and classes with excellent hardware and original, often innovative solutions. Therefore, choosing Huawei products is a smart decision when choosing a smartphone.

10th place – Y6

Despite the modest price, the functionality of the 2018 “six” is high enough for any everyday tasks. The hardware is based on a powerful quad-core processor, the volumes of RAM and permanent memory are 2 and 16 GB, respectively - not little, but not much. The design is modest and laconic, without any frills. The matte plastic of the case is durable and non-slippery.
The display of Huawei Y6 pleases with wide viewing angles and pleasant color rendering, the resolution is slightly higher than classic HD. The gadget cannot be called frameless, but the front panel area is used effectively. Under the display there is a thin strip of plastic with the brand name, at the top there is a speaker slot, windows for a 5-megapixel selfie camera and a light sensor. The main camera is equipped with a far from top-end 13 megapixel matrix. In short, an inexpensive but good smartphone for undemanding users.

Characteristics:

  1. Android;

  3. 13 MP camera, autofocus;
  4. RAM 1 GB;

9th place – Y9 2019

Huawei Y9 is suitable for those who are looking for a budget gadget with a good camera. Or rather, with four cameras at once. Both front and rear have the same modules – a 13-megapixel main one and a 2-megapixel secondary one. This combination allows you to experiment with bokeh, and wide apertures make it possible to shoot in low light with low digital noise. Compared to younger models, the size and resolution of the display have increased, its edges have become rounded, and the aspect ratio, instead of the usual 16:9, is 2:1. This makes it easier to operate your smartphone with one hand.
The body of the gadget is durable and comfortable, made of brushed metal. The latest generation fingerprint scanner, located in the center of the rear panel, is responsible for user identification. The “heart” of the Huawei Y9 was the eight-core Kirin 659 CPU, which scored about 65 thousand points in AnTuTu - a good result for a mid-class smartphone. The model comes with a powerful 4000 mAh battery, so the autonomy of the “nine” will pleasantly surprise you.

Characteristics:

  1. Android 8.1;
  2. display: 6.5″, 2340×1080;
  3. RAM 4 GB;

Pros:

  • juicy screen;
  • long operating time;
  • very nimble;
  • great camera.

Minuses:

  • not yet discovered.

8th place – Nova 3i 4

As the name suggests, the Nova line is focused on new, unusual solutions. It belongs to the upper-mid price segment of the company and provides customers with functions that were previously available only in luxury flagships. Thus, the 3i model is equipped with a large frameless LTPS display. This screen is in no way inferior to classic IPS technology and even has superior response time and power consumption.
The new product is equipped with a powerful Kirin 710 processor, and 4 GB of RAM runs at an incredible speed of 6700 MB/s. The overall rating of Antutu experts was 140 thousand points - great news for connoisseurs of performance in heavy applications and games. The cameras are also good. The main one consists of a 24-megapixel module and a 2-megapixel auxiliary sensor; 16 and 2 megapixels are offered for selfies. There are known cases of photographers using the Nova 3i as a compact addition to their main equipment. But the battery let us down; its capacity of 3.3 Ah is not enough for such performance.

Characteristics:

  1. Android 8.1;
  2. display: 6.3″, 2340×1080;
  3. RAM 4 GB;
  4. battery 3340 mAh;
  5. support for two SIM cards;
  6. WxHxD 75.20×157.60×7.60 mm;
  7. weight 169 g.

Pros:

  • very loud speakers;
  • The charge lasts for a couple of days, charges in half an hour to 60-70%;
  • stylish design;
  • no frames;
  • performance.

Minuses:

  • It gets a little warm.

7th place – P Smart 2019

The P Smart line needs no introduction. It has long been known to fans of the brand for the best price-quality ratio among Huawei smartphones. The hardware of the 2019 model is almost identical to the hardware of the Nova 3i, except that the RAM capacity is slightly reduced. The display is completely frameless, only in the upper part there is a tiny window for the 8-megapixel front camera. The rear camera could be better - only 13 megapixels for the main sensor and 2 megapixels for the secondary one, that is, the same characteristics as in inexpensive models.
The design of the gadget deserves special mention. In addition to the strictly black body with slightly rounded corners, users are offered a gradient Aurora Blue color scheme, bright, colorful and unique, distinguishing the smartphone from the white-sulphur-black world of modern electronics.

Characteristics:

  1. Android 9.0;
  2. display: 6.21″, 2340×1080;
  3. dual camera 13 MP/2 MP, autofocus;
  4. RAM 3 GB;
  5. battery 3400 mAh;
  6. support for two SIM cards;
  7. WxHxD 73.40×155.20×7.95 mm;
  8. weight 160 g.

Pros:

  • fits comfortably in the hand;
  • full View screen;
  • availability of NFC;
  • stylish.

Minuses:

  • Slot combination for SIM and SD card.

6th place – P20 Lite

The lightweight version of the top-end “twentieth” model offers users a high-frequency Kirin 659 CPU with eight cores, 4 GB of RAM and 16 times more permanent memory. Owner reviews note the stable and fast operation of all programs. A frameless display with a relatively small diagonal made the gadget light and compact; a wonderful dual camera was offered for photo and video shooting, and selfies can be taken with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
Glossy metal cases in black, cream or blue look expensive and elegant, but they slip in your hands and quickly accumulate stains. The battery capacity also leaves much to be desired.

Characteristics:

  1. Android 8.0;
  2. display: 5.84″, 2280×1080;
  3. dual camera 16 MP/2 MP, autofocus;
  4. RAM 4 GB;
  5. battery 3000 mAh;
  6. support for two SIM cards;
  7. WxHxD 71.20×148.60×7.40 mm;
  8. weight 145 g.

Pros:

  • facial recognition (very fast, works instantly);
  • many settings;
  • availability of NFC;
  • screen.

Minuses:

  • slippery body and screen.

5th place – Nova 3 6

The “big brother” of the Nova 3i model already reviewed in our Top 10 received one of the most powerful processors of the HiSilicon sub-brand – the eight-core Kirin 970. The amount of RAM has increased to 6 GB, and the permanent memory varies depending on the modification: 64 or 128 GB.
The design is the same, with signature gradient colors, but the cameras have been improved. The main one remains a 24-megapixel matrix, it is complemented by a 16-megapixel monochrome sensor. There are 24 and 2 megapixel modules installed in front. User face identification technology is available, although the smartphone also has a fingerprint scanner. The display has not changed, but the battery capacity has increased slightly - from 3.3 to 3.75 Ah. The role of the operating system, as in 3i, is played by Android Oreo 8.1.

Characteristics:

  1. Android 8.1;
  2. display: 6.3″, 2340×1080;
  3. dual camera 24 MP/16 MP, autofocus;
  4. RAM 6 GB;
  5. battery 3750 mAh;
  6. support for two SIM cards;
  7. WxHxD 73.70x157x7.30 mm;
  8. weight 166 g.

Pros:

  • build quality, body material – metal and glass;
  • very clear color IPS screen;
  • excellent dual camera;
  • high performance;
  • The charge lasts for 2 days;
  • many new settings;
  • powerful processor.

Minuses:

  • slightly slippery;
  • weak stabilization.

4th place – P20 Pro

The 2018 bestseller is equipped with powerful hardware based on the Kirin 970 and comes with a good 4000 mAh battery. We would hardly be wrong in saying that it has the best potential for photo and video shooting among the brand's smartphones priced below $1000. The front camera has a 24-megapixel sensor and 2.0 aperture. The rear camera includes three modules: a color one with an incredible resolution of 40 megapixels and an aperture of 1.8, a monochrome one with 20 megapixels, and an 8-megapixel one equipped with a telephoto lens. The optics for the smartphone were developed by the iconic German company Leica.
The gadget is equipped with a six-inch display using energy-saving LED technology. The screen is bright, with rich colors and very wide viewing angles. The case is ergonomic and does not stain; it looks most impressive in the two-color Twilight coloring.

Characteristics:

  1. Android 8.1;
  2. display: 6.1″, 2240×1080;
  3. RAM 6 GB;
  4. battery 4000 mAh;
  5. support for two SIM cards;
  6. WxHxD 73.90x155x7.80 mm;
  7. weight 180 g.

Pros:

  • camera: speed of pictures, saturation of photos, video stabilization (even running is stabilized);
  • fast fingerprint scanner and facial recognition;
  • there are no lags in the shell interface and application operation;
  • high performance;
  • well balanced;
  • long working time.

Minuses:

  • quite slippery;
  • lack of 3.5 mm input.

3rd place – Mate 20 6

The ranking of the best Huawei smartphones would be incomplete without the most affordable of the flagship models of 2019 – Mate 20 6. Six here means the amount of RAM, with 128 GB available at all times. The operation of the gadget is coordinated by the innovative Kirin 980 processor, and a very good Mali-G76 MP10 video chip is responsible for graphics processing. Android 9.0 is already available out of the box.
Never before have display bezels been so thin. A small semicircular groove for a 24-megapixel front camera is the only thing on the front panel other than the 6.5-inch LED display. The manufacturer saved only on the resolution of the three rear cameras, it was 16, 12 and 8 megapixels. Moreover, the widest aperture of a 12-megapixel sensor is 1.8.

Characteristics:

  1. Android 9.0;
  2. display: 6.53″, 2244×1080;
  3. three cameras 12 MP/16 MP/8 MP, autofocus;
  4. RAM 6 GB;
  5. battery 4000 mAh;
  6. support for two SIM cards;
  7. WxHxD 77.20×158.20×8.30 mm;
  8. weight 188 g.

Pros:

  • screen – large with narrow frames;
  • excellent battery;
  • shell – applications open instantly;
  • great cameras.

Minuses:

  • no AOD mode;
  • slippery body.

2nd place – Mate 20 Pro 8

This device is one of those launched into mass production, with expanded functionality compared to the basic Mate 20. The processor is borrowed from the younger Mate, and the cameras have been “migrated” from the P20 Pro, however, now they are not arranged in a row, but are grouped on a square area in center of the rear panel. The amount of RAM has reached the maximum value for modern smartphones of 8 GB, 256 “gigs” are allocated for data.
The LED screen covers almost 90% of the front panel. True, the cutout for the selfie camera and sensors is still too big. Glass and high-strength aluminum were chosen as body materials. I was pleasantly surprised by the battery capacity – 4.2 Ah.

Characteristics:

1st place – Mate 20 RS

The best model is made of glass, metal and leather; the world's leading designers have had a hand in its appearance. Provides protection from dust, water and accidental impacts. The display delivers incredibly sharp images thanks to AMOLED technology and a pixel density of approximately 540 ppi. The camera layout and features are similar to the Mate 20 Pro.
But, of course, the main advantages of the RS version are hidden inside its body. In addition to the most powerful Kirin 980 CPU, there is 8 GB of RAM, and the maximum amount of permanent storage at the moment is as much as 0.5 TB. In the Antutu test, Huawei Mate 20 RS scored 313,561 points - the best result in the world. Submit Rating
