But at the moment the button is inactive, since the release of the final version is coming one of these days and downloads of the “dozens” have been temporarily stopped and you may receive an email with this content.

The official release of Windows 10 is just around the corner, so we're not adding new PCs to the Windows Insider Program just yet.

That is, you need to wait a few days, but my friend did not want to do this. I decided to help and pulled out a preliminary ISO image of Windows 10 Insider Preview 10162 from behind the chrome, we uploaded it to a flash drive and installed it on his laptop.

I will not stop at the installation process itself; it is described in detail in my article. It is important to specify a Microsoft account when installing Windows, otherwise updates within the Insider program may not arrive. If you create a local account when installing the system, then after installation, be sure to switch to your Microsoft account, do this.

Get Insider Builds

In total, there are two ways for ordinary users to obtain preliminary builds - Fast(Fast)and Slow(Slow).

Fast, mainly chosen by real insiders who are interested in every cog in the new operating system. If you choose this method, you will receive updates for all upcoming builds of Windows 10.

If you select Slow, then there will be few build updates, but there will be fewer bugs in such assemblies, since they have already been fixed by insiders working with the Fast update circle.

Restart now

After the reboot, the build number remained 10162.

Again we go to Windows Update.

Check for updates.

Update Windows 10 Insider Preview 10240 does not install, an error appears, click Retry.
