He plas 5. OnePlus smartphones

Quite recently, the Chinese manufacturer OnePlus introduced a new model, as a new generation smartphone is already being prepared for release.

Since the name of the previous version contains the serial number 3, it would be logical to expect the next model with the number 4. But such a number, as they say, will not be, since the number 4 is considered unlucky for those Chinese citizens who are superstitious. Another confirmation that the number 4 will be absent from the OnePlus model range is that this number is not in the names of gadgets from Vivo. This company is controlled by the same business structures as OnePlus. Therefore, now everyone is waiting for the release of the OnePlus 5 smartphone.

OnePlus 5 Specifications

According to rumors leaked to the Internet, this model will have a ceramic case, the same as the recently introduced “”. It is believed that such a housing conducts network signals better. This factor is especially relevant today as 4G and 5G formats are developing. In addition, this is not the first experience of making a smartphone from ceramics from this company - there was already a OnePlus-X model.

A 5.5-inch AMOLED display is expected, curved on both sides. Screen resolution up to 1440x2560.

The processor will most likely be based on the Snapdragon-830. RAM will probably be 6 or 8 GB, ROM capacity - 64 and 128 GB (i.e. 2 versions of the model are possible).

The main camera is 23 megapixels, the front one is 16. There may be a USN Type-C port. Software - Android 7.0 Nougat. Battery – 4 thousand mAh, with fast charging function.

It is assumed that the 5th model will have 2 modifications - “OnePlus 5” and “OnePlus 5 Edge”. The "Edge" model will presumably be similar to "". The device will have a rounded screen and a ceramic body that is protected from water and drops. Inside there will probably be a “Snapdragon-835” with 8 cores. Display size - 5.5 inches, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, 64 or 128 GB flash modules.

OnePlus 5 release date

Recently, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium gadget was presented to the public. This is the first device powered by Snapdragon-835. This model may go on sale between March and May.

Previously, there was information that Qualcomm provided the first exclusive batch of Snapdragon-835 chipsets for gadgets and. These models will be available for purchase no earlier than April 21st. Accordingly, all other smartphones with this processor will be released no earlier than the second quarter of 2017.

OnePlus 5 price

There are no leaks about the cost of the new product yet. The manufacturer carefully hides any information. Therefore, we can make our own assumptions for now. Based on the specifications of the device and the estimated prices of smartphones from competing companies, we can assume that the OnePlus 5 price will range from $270 to $420.

Positioning

The OnePlus slogan is the same for all devices, they are positioned the same way every time and we hear that another “flagship killer” has been released. In practice, this is far from true, but among technology enthusiasts, devices from OnePlus have become widespread and there are several reasons for this. The first is that this device is not for everyone, it is not mass-produced, and compared to it, smartphones from Xiaomi and Meizu are consumer goods, not to mention other companies, for example, Huawei or especially Samsung. That is, there is a feeling that OnePlus smartphones are only for people in the know. The second reason is that in terms of price/quality ratio, these devices are good and if you do not need the full set of flagship characteristics, then they may be perfect for you, and the cost will be slightly lower. It cannot be said that OnePlus sells its smartphones for free or at some low price; at the time of release, they cost about 500 dollars/euro, which fits well with the understanding of flagships from A-brands, which cost a little more.

Inside OnePlus, each time they choose a new “victim”, so the previous model OnePlus 3/3T borrowed the design from Huawei smartphones, the same shapes and layout of elements were easily recognizable.

In 2017, the donor for the designer of the five was the iPhone 7 Plus, the same arrangement of elements, dual camera.

The Chinese are not at all embarrassed by the fact that they lack uniqueness in appearance; rather, it is a conscious copying that shows who they went on a campaign against and who they want to surprise with what. Those who buy Chinese Android smartphones often knowingly or not, but in opposition to Apple and the iPhone, people give a lot of arguments why they do not want to buy products from an American corporation. It is possible that this is a contrast between two worlds, Android and iOS, but the fact is that with a noticeable difference in cost between the iPhone and other devices, the majority do not choose the iPhone at all, as sales figures prove.

At the same time, OnePlus’s real competitor is not Apple/Samsung or Huawei smartphones, it is still a direct competitor for Chinese companies, and it sometimes costs more than them and this affects the perception, there is a feeling of a higher quality product. The price trick has long been well known and is perfectly applied in practice. Therefore, it is worth considering OnePlus 5 as a device popular in narrow circles, a kind of product for “insiders”. However, it has very definite advantages that may be of interest to the mass consumer, especially when purchasing a device outside of Russia, when there is an opportunity to save on price.

Design, dimensions, control elements

The theater begins with the hanger, the device always starts with the box and how the accessories are packaged and how they look. I’ve always liked OnePlus’ approach, there’s simply nothing to complain about, inside the box there are compartments for charging and cables, a leaflet with an appeal on behalf of the company and other small things.

It is clear that you will throw away the box or hide it out of sight almost immediately, but it creates the mood and affects the perception of the phone. And this is the right approach.

The device is available in two colors - gold and dark gray. For girls and for everyone else, that is, boys and girls mixed.

From time to time, OnePlus releases limited editions, which is how the JCC+ device appeared, but you still won’t be able to find it on sale, so you can consider it a kind of virtual expansion of the model range.

The case is curved on the back towards the edges, which makes the phone more comfortable to grip; it does not slip in your hand and is thin enough to be convenient in a jeans pocket. The size of the smartphone is 154.2x74.1x7.3 mm, weight is 153 grams. For this type of device, it is quite light and this is a big plus, since the body is made of anodized aluminum (we are not talking about any series here, which means ordinary aluminum without any 6000 or even more so 7000 series). The reliability of the case is beyond doubt, the paint does not peel off, as sometimes happens on Huawei, everything is reliable here (anodizing is the best option of all possible and quite expensive).

Inserts for antennas can be seen on the top and bottom ends; in a dark device they are so good that you can only see them by looking closely. To my taste, they do not spoil the overall impression of the model, although in gold they are clearly visible and less successful.

The layout of the control elements is standard for OnePlus; it is repeated from model to model.

Above the screen in the upper left corner there is an indicator for missed events; it is not very bright, but clearly visible. In the settings you can choose the backlight color for various events; there are several such colors.

On the left side there is a paired volume key, and just above there is a three-position lever, with its help you can turn on Do Not Disturb mode or limit notifications only from important applications. The thing is super convenient, it allows you to immediately achieve the desired result without going into the menu, without turning on the device.

On the right side there is an on/off key, just above the tray for two nanoSIM cards.

At the bottom you can see a USB Type C connector, speaker output, as well as a 3.5 mm jack and microphone. The second microphone is located near the camera on the rear panel, it is used when shooting video, and also participates in the noise reduction system during conversations. The camera itself protrudes from the back, but this does not create any problem.

There is a fingerprint sensor under the screen, it works just fine, the touch is recognized instantly and is in no way inferior to how it happens on the iPhone/Galaxy. In addition to the fact that it is a fingerprint sensor, you can assign the touch pad to call one of the functions; a double or long press is recognized. The pad is not pressed, so it all depends not on the force, but on how long you hold your finger on it. For example, I’m so used to the fact that I can quickly launch the camera on my Galaxy with two presses of the Home key, that I chose the same function, it’s very convenient.

On the sides of the sensor there are touch keys; they do not have symbols, since in the menu you can change their places and choose the location that is familiar to you.

The only possible negative that you will notice over time is the film on the screen, which is glued on at the factory. Despite the fact that there is Corning Gorilla Glass 5, there is also a film. It will get scratched over time and then you will have to peel it off, but it will definitely last you for several months if you handle the device normally.

Display

If you were expecting that the screen would somehow change compared to the previous model from OnePlus, then it was in vain, since it is cheaper to use the same matrices, especially since they have proven themselves well, if you do not pay attention to some points.

Chinese manufacturers strive to use AMOLED matrices, as this makes their products stand out, gives them a touch of respectability, and it turns out that they are no worse than Samsung. Considering that you have to buy AMOLED matrices from Samsung or small manufacturers, they cannot be compared with the latest generations of matrices from Samsung. As a rule, they are distinguished by noticeably lower brightness and the absence of additional energy saving modes. The display in OnePlus 3/3T/5 was no exception. For marketing reasons, the Optic prefix was added to it; in fact, this means that the company's engineers adjusted the color profiles to their liking and considered this ideal. Screen resolution 1920x1080 pixels, 401 ppi with a diagonal of 5.5 inches. Of course, this is not a QHD screen on which you cannot see the pattern of the picture and individual dots, here they are almost invisible, but still sometimes you see the picture a little rough. But for its class of devices, this is an excellent screen, in which one can only complain about insufficient brightness when shooting with the camera; the picture looks dark and dull. In all other cases, especially indoors, there is nothing to complain about, everything works plus/minus well.

From the menu you can change the screen color scheme to sRGB or DCI-P3, the second one seemed to me much more interesting than the default one. Custom colors are a simple adjustment of color temperature, you shouldn’t play with it, although everyone decides for themselves.

Another feature of the screen is the display of information from applications the moment you move your hand over the screen. All notifications are shown on a black background, which is convenient.

In the sun, the screen remains readable, there are no special problems here (in camera mode, I repeat, the screen is very dim).

Among the additional settings, I will note the presence of a reading mode (you can add applications for which it will work), as well as a night mode (work according to a schedule or automatically, this is a blue filter).

Battery

Since OnePlus uses all the developments of the parent company OPPO, this device has fast charging called DASH, this is a complete analogue of VOOC technology from OPPO. Charging 4A, 5V and allows you to charge a Li-Pol battery in 65-70 minutes. In fifteen minutes you get about 30 percent battery charge, which is very convenient. Phones without fast charging have become an anachronism for me; too much time is wasted on unnecessary waiting.

The battery capacity is 3300 mAh, which makes you think that the smartphone does not last very long. But that's not true. In practice, the smartphone easily works for two days under normal load, in particular, up to 5-6 hours of screen operation (here it all depends on the brightness of the display, as you understand). For me, this operating time is excellent and makes the model stand out among its classmates; I have to thank the AMOLED screen for this.

The total video playback time at maximum brightness is about 17 hours.

Communication capabilities

Bluetooth version 5.0, there is NFC support (OnePlus 3 did not have it). Supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band. Unlike the same OnePlus 3, there are no problems with WiFi, everything works perfectly.

A few words about hardware GPS, it works well, there are no complaints about it. In any case, in conjunction with A-GPS, the device quickly becomes attached to the area and, when using Google Maps, leads well along the route.

LTE frequencies are written at the very beginning, here I would like to add that support for Cat.6 is announced. Frequency aggregation does not work for Cat.6, at least in Russia. If you don't know what it is, then it probably shouldn't bother you.

Memory, RAM, chipset, performance

The device is available in two versions - 6/64 GB and 8/128 GB; we tested the device with maximum characteristics. Considering that there is a Snapdragon 835 inside, this chipset is one of the most productive, and complementing it with fast memory, the manufacturer received maximum performance in all tasks. Moreover, both the parrots in synthetic tests and the real performance of this solution are excellent, look at the test results. The main question is whether 128 GB of internal memory is enough for you (64 GB is an option), but I think everyone is looking for the answer to it themselves, since everyone has different scenarios for using smartphones.

Camera

The front camera in this device is 16-megapixel (f/2.0, EIS, Auto HDR, 1080p), the Sony IMX 371 module is used, the image quality is excellent for this type of camera. There are various facial enhancements, which is important for girls.

The main camera is dual, consisting of a Sony IMX 398 module (f/1.7, EIS, 16 megapixels), as well as a Sony IMX 350 (f/2.6, 20 megapixels). One lens is wide-angle, the second gives an optical zoom of x1.6. Look at paired photographs, each taken with the same lens. Please note that zooming works worse in the evening, noise appears in the photo, the reason is that the 20-megapixel matrix does not have such a fast lens (f/2.6 versus f/1.7).

Also, the dual camera system can be used to blur the background, the algorithm works well, but you can see it for yourself.

The camera interface is simple, there is a manual setting (Pro mode), the ability to display a histogram, save images in RAW, and the like.

When shooting video, you can choose FullHD resolution with an option of 30 or 60 frames per second, for 4K it is only 30 frames per second. The device records sound well thanks to a three-microphone system.

Look at the sample photos in comparison with Nokia 8, Samsung Galaxy S8+, I think they will show you that OnePlus does a good job with photography, the quality of photos is often comparable to S8+, although in the dark they are noisier, as well as in dimly lit rooms.

The OnePlus 5's camera capabilities will be enough for most casual users, but it will also satisfy those who love photography. In my opinion, the camera is on par with the best models from Huawei, but Samsung falls a little short of that, and only in some modes. This is a very, very decent level, so the OnePlus 5 is worth paying attention to in terms of photographic capabilities.

Software

Despite the fact that it runs Android 7.1.1, it uses its own Oxygen OS shell, which differs minimally from regular Android, although it has its own developments.

Play Music is used to play music. There is Dirac HD Sound - this is special software that analyzes and corrects the “color” of the sound. The sound settings include a 7-band equalizer from 68 Hz to 14 kHz. There are also headphone presets there.

The sound in the headphones is simple, there is nothing outstanding here. There is a private gallery for viewing photos, which is nice.

The recorder is simple, but does its job perfectly.

The file manager also does not cause any difficulties, everything is simple and clear.

There is nothing to describe in terms of software here, everything is extremely simple and clear.

Impressions

The speaker volume is always sufficient, the device can be heard. There are no particular complaints about the quality of speech transmission; the noise reduction system works well (there are three microphones).

In Russia, official OnePlus 5 are sold for 40 and 45 thousand rubles in official retail, this is the price for the younger and older versions. Resellers' prices are noticeably lower, they amount to approximately 30 and 35 thousand rubles. But here everyone chooses the presence of a guarantee or its absence, how attractive each option looks.

Compared to the previous OnePlus 3/3T, the design has changed, although the body materials and design remain the same; the screen itself has not changed, although more settings have appeared for it. In my opinion, with the OnePlus 3T priced at 26 and 30 thousand rubles on the gray market, this is not the most interesting offer and it’s not worth saving here; the new model turned out to be noticeably better and more powerful.

On the other hand, for this money there are many offers on the market, let's start with the same Samsung Galaxy S7 EDGE, which costs 30 thousand rubles on the gray market (42-43 thousand in the PCT version). The devices are of different levels according to the perception of brands, there are some advantages on the side of the S7 EDGE - higher screen resolution, support for Gear VR, water protection, wireless charging, better screen implementation and slightly worse performance. Excellent, albeit single camera. There's a lot to think about here, and it's not a given that you'll choose the OnePlus 5.

The higher quality Chinese smartphones become, the more expensive they sell. In terms of originality and unusualness, I see Meizu Pro 7 as an alternative to OnePlus 5, which also has a dual camera, but also has a second display on the back. A very original device, but the price of 40 and 45 thousand rubles, of course, looks at the level of OnePlus 5 and does not provide any special advantages. Read the first look at this device to understand how interesting it is to you or not.

The list of different competitors of OnePlus 5 can be endless, I have noted only a few. Here someone might be tempted by the fact that there is a 3.5 mm jack, but the sound is not so great, the same Meizu is head and shoulders above with its dedicated DSP for sound. You have to look in detail at what exactly you need from the device, but we can say that OnePlus 5 is successful. Sales of this model in Russia are quite sluggish, both in official deliveries and on the gray market - this is not a mass audience, the product is not for everyone. But the smartphone turned out to be successful and we must give it credit for this.

Since the release of its first smartphone, OnePlus One, the company has set the bar high, providing serious competition to the flagships available at that time. This level has been maintained for three generations, including OnePlus 3 and 3T, will they be able not to lose face with the release of OnePlus 5 to the market? As before, it comes out after a series of high-profile announcements from competitors. There is already an overview of the flagships of key players and the opportunity to analyze the difference. In the near future, we plan to release several comparative reviews in our Laboratory.

As usual, there are several channels for purchase: online stores with delivery from China (GearBest - https://goo.gl/m2SyyP), intermediaries with delivery in Germany from the official OnePlus store and Russian retail. The latter option is distinguished not only by the difference in cost, but also by warranty service. You can study the official prices in a summary table compiled based on data from the Yandex.Market service.

OnePlus 5 review

Equipment

OnePlus 5 is delivered in a snow-white box made of thick cardboard, the base is bright red. Technical information is printed on the back of the box.

The kit includes a charger with Fast Charge, a USB Type-C cable, a paper clip for the tray, instructions and a warranty card.

Appearance

The company's leaders were not shy during the presentation and stated that they were inspired by the design of the Apple iPhone 7 when designing the OnePlus 5. The similarities are really visible.

Much attention was paid to the build quality and materials used. As a result, it is pleasant to the touch, lightweight and convenient for everyday use.

Appearance of OnePlus 5

The back cover is made of cleverly machined aluminum, with a light matte texture. It does not slip, unlike the Xiaomi Mi6 reviewed earlier, and does not become dirty with fingerprints.

The case thickness is only 7.3 mm. Due to the rounded side frames, it feels airy. All elements are within easy reach.

We changed the design of a pair of plastic inserts necessary for the output of communication module antennas. In the dark version - and for now these are the only ones available - they are invisible.

The main camera block is shifted to the left, it protrudes slightly beyond the body. Next to it is a noise-canceling microphone and a dual LED flash.

At the bottom end of the OnePlus 5 there is an audio jack (they did not abandon it), USB Type-C, a main microphone and a speaker grille.

On the right is the power button and a tray for two SIMs. Memory card support was not added. The infrared port did not appear either.

On the left is a volume rocker and a three-position sound notification mode switch.

So far, only two color versions are available: Slate Gray (64 GB, in our tests) and Midnight Black (128 GB). Most likely, new colors will appear in the summer, but now you can change the appearance by installing numerous protective covers.

The front side is covered with protective glass with a 2.5D effect. There are anti-reflective and oleophobic coatings.

The frames in OnePlus 5 are preserved. On the top frame there is a speaker grille, a customizable LED indicator, proximity and light sensors, and a front camera.

On the bottom frame there is a fingerprint scanner combined with the HOME button. The scanner works with lightning speed. Several fingers are stored in memory.

Along the edges of it there is one touch button. Actions are reconfigured in a mirror manner. There is a backlight with low brightness.

Screen

OnePlus 5 received the already familiar 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display with additional calibration. They didn’t increase the resolution either, Full HD with PenTile.

The viewing angles are wide, there is no air gap between the matrix and the protective glass. The “jelly” effect that the first users talked about was not noticed. The screen works stably.

The settings have two color profile presets and manual adjustment. Colors look natural with the sRGB profile. The brightness reserve is high (maximum exceeds 500 cd/m2). Visually, the brightness is higher than that of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Black colors with endless contrast. The touch layer supports up to 10 simultaneous touches.

Filling

The new product is built on the basis of the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, made using a 10nm process technology; there are always no options; the latest and most powerful SoC is installed. This is an eight-core processor with four Kryo 280 cores (2.45 GHz) and four energy-efficient Kryo 280 (1.9 GHz). Adreno 540 is responsible for graphics.

OnePlus 5 tests

6 GB of RAM is available, the older version received 8 GB. Two versions, one with 64 GB of fast flash memory, the second with 128 GB.

In benchmarks, the smartphone ranks at the top of the ratings. Games run at the maximum level of graphics quality without freezing. The lid does not heat up under prolonged loads.

Connection

OnePlus 5 operates on fourth generation networks with a wide list of supported frequencies. The speed of downloading files is the highest possible. There will be no problems with operators when traveling around the world. There are no longer separate versions for different countries. The connection is stable. Bluetooth 5.0 module, dual-frequency Wi-Fi.

NFC with seamless Android Pay support. The navigation module uses signals from three systems, including GLONASS. A cold start takes seconds, the positioning accuracy is high. Surprisingly, the smartphone successfully determined the location while indoors.

Battery

A 3300 mAh battery is hidden under the non-removable cover. Supports DASH CHARGE fast charging technology. In half an hour, about 60% of the charge is restored; a full charge takes up to an hour.

The battery life has improved, it lasts about 7 hours in games, about 10 hours for watching videos. In normal use, the OnePlus 5 charge lasts for 1.5-2 days.

Camera

The main module uses a combination of SONY IMX 398 matrix with a resolution of 16 megapixels and an F/1.7 aperture. It is supplemented with a SONY IMX 350 matrix with a resolution of 20 megapixels and an F/2.6 aperture. Front camera with SONY IMX 371 with a resolution of 16 megapixels and F/2.0 aperture.

Added video stabilization in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. Offers wide shooting customization options. Creative shooting modes. Optical 2x zoom (1.6 and 0.4 software).

OnePlus 5 Summary

OnePlus 5 is one of the best flagship-level smartphones for the summer of 2017. A current set of features and characteristics is offered. The maximum level of performance, a set of communication modules, a calibrated display, support for fast charging, a lot of memory, stable LTE operation, support for Android Pay, high-quality assembly and materials. You can find fault with the lack of a slot for a memory card, FM radio, or infrared port. The conditional disadvantages include the similarity with the design of the iPhone 7 and the lack of water protection.

Oneplus 5: even better, even more powerful

The One Plus 5 smartphone is a completely new smartphone, which, even before its appearance, caused a storm of emotions and indignation. Many criticize the creators for completely copying the design of its “Apple” relative. However, the creators say that this is not entirely true. The picture that we can view on the Internet does not convey the build quality of the device, its size, convenience or appearance. Therefore, only after the gadget becomes widely available will it be possible to talk about something.

How much Oneplus 5 costs is not yet clear. Many experts talk about the amount from 400 to 500 USD. If you want to buy a flagship phone at a relatively low price, then wait until this model goes on sale and you will be captivated by it forever. You can buy Van Plus 5 from July 2017, after its official release.

What's so special about this device? OnePlus manages to develop devices that, in terms of their technical characteristics, are not inferior to well-known brands, but have a much lower cost.

The first thing worth noting is the appearance of the One Plus 5 phone. The device has a 5.5" screen diagonal, an Optic AMOLED matrix. The buyer can choose from models with 6 and 8 GB of RAM, as well as 64 GB or 128 GB of internal phone memory. Operation The device is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, MSM8998, 10nm processor, working together with an Adreno 540 video accelerator.

As for the camera, there are 3 of them in this model: two of them are main and one is front. What are the 2 main cameras for? For better photo quality. With the help of two cameras, more light falls on the matrix, due to them you can achieve the effect when the main subject is clear, and the background around it is blurred. The main cameras of the One Plus 5 smartphone have a resolution of 16 and 16 MP, and the front one has 8 MP. These are excellent characteristics for taking high-quality photos, as well as shooting bright and clear videos.

Payment for the order can be made in any way convenient for you. Together with the Internet resource "Sintetiki" you not only save a decent amount on purchases, but also purchase a high-quality and reliable product.

OnePlus 5T is similar to its predecessor and differs from it only in the overgrown screen and the relocation of the fingerprint scanner to the back.

OnePlus 5 looked like, but the new model looks more independent due to the fashionable bezel-less feature. Now the screen occupies not 73%, as before, but 80% of the front surface area of the smartphone. For comparison, the y has 77%, and the Galaxy S8 has 83.6%. That is, Oneplus 5T is still not the most frameless on the market. In addition to the sprawling screen, we note the rounded edges and on-screen buttons. The back panel is distinguished only by a round fingerprint scanner, a dual camera and a corporate logo.

The dimensions of the smartphone are 156.1x75x7.3 mm, weight is 162 grams. So, it is slightly higher, but in other respects it is almost the same. The same one turns out to be shorter, narrower, but heavier. The smartphone has a non-separable metal body.

The OnePlus 5T can be purchased in black, with more colors likely to appear over time.

Screen

Not much is known about the OnePlus 5T's screen. The most important thing here is the AMOLED matrix and the fashionable screen aspect ratio - 18:9 (or 2:1). The display diagonal is 6.01 inches, resolution is 2160x1080 pixels. The pixel density is 401 per inch, more than enough for a clear picture. You can expect wide viewing angles and infinite contrast from the AMOLED matrix. Interesting details include an expanded color gamut and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Cameras

The OnePlus 5T cameras look promising: two rear (20 + 16 MP) and a 16 MP front camera.

Interestingly, this time the company changed the operating principle of the dual camera. In OnePlus 5, this duo worked in the manner of the iPhone 7 Plus (regular and telephoto lenses). But the OnePlus 5T abandoned the telephoto lens; they are both wide-angle and color. The 16 MP Sony IMX398 module has fairly large pixels (1.12 microns) and a wide aperture (f/1.7). The second IMK376K module with the same aperture is designed to improve the quality of shooting in low light. It's an odd choice because the higher resolution of 20MP means its individual pixels are smaller, just 1 micron. There is another typical feature of dual cameras - background blur in portrait photographs. The only thing missing is optical stabilization, but there is electronic stabilization.

The front camera with a 16 MP IMX371 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 1 micron pixels is designed for selfies and smartphone unlocking. This feature is called Face Unlock and is clearly intended to compete with Face ID. True, it works only in nine cases out of ten, as the manufacturer himself honestly admits. So for now, this feature is still not a competitor to the new Apple technology. Separately, I would like to yearn for autofocus, which is not announced for the front camera.

Communications

The OnePlus 5T communications suite is typically flagship:

  • high-speed and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • LTE Cat 12 support (up to 600 Mbps)
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • A-GPS
  • NFC chip.

Some may miss FM radio or an infrared port, although we personally don't miss them that much. The main connector on the body is USB type C. The smartphone works with two nanoSIM cards.

Battery

The battery capacity of the smartphone remains the same - 3300 mAh, which looks modest for a 6-inch screen. Although this should be enough for about a day of battery life. At the same time, there is an interesting feature, proprietary fast charging Dash Charge. It is promised that 30 minutes with a charger will last for a whole day of use. And it will take about an hour to fully charge. The interesting thing here is that this process is usually accelerated due to increased voltage, but in this case it was left at 5V and the charging current was increased to 4A.

Performance

The performance of the OnePlus 5T will be typical flagship, but the same as its predecessor. The fact is that the hardware of the device has not changed, it is the same 6 or 8 GB of RAM and the top Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (4 cores of 2.4 GHz + 4 cores of 1.9 GHz) with an Adreno 540 graphics accelerator. OnePlus 5 worked perfectly , fast, smooth in any games and applications. Therefore, we expect the same from OnePlus 5T.

Memory

The OnePlus 5T has impressive amounts of permanent memory - 64 or 128 GB (fast UFS 2.1 standard), although there is no memory card slot. The manufacturer generously piled on RAM - 6 or 8 GB of LPDDR4X type (fast and energy efficient today). This should be more than enough for storing data and for simultaneous work with several applications.

Peculiarities

OnePlus 5T received the proprietary Oxygen OS shell and . At the same time, the manufacturer has already promised to update the phone to Android 8. The features of the smartphone include a dual camera, Face Unlock and a fashionable elongated screen with thin frames.

Price

The price for OnePlus 5T starts at 500 euros (about 35,000 rubles); such a flagship cannot be called very cheap. It is still unclear when it will appear in Russia - we are not on the list of lucky countries where OnePlus 5T goes on sale on November 21st.
