It happens that the computer's acoustic system (speakers) needs to be placed at some distance. In this case, of course, the simplest solution would be to take a longer cable and connect it using it. But if you don’t want to clutter the room with unnecessary wires, then you can do this using a bluetooth audio module based on the bk8000l chip.

This module is a small board on which the chip itself and its wiring are soldered, and on the edges of which there are contacts for connecting external devices. Of course, using this module in speakers is not the only purpose of the BK8000L audio module. It is possible to connect microphone control keys to it and turn, say, old wired headphones into full-fledged wireless ones. The module also has a UART interface for its configuration, but unfortunately it is disabled in software (at least in the modules that I came across). Therefore, renaming the module and putting a PIN code on it will not work.

The positive power supply is supplied to pin 29 of Vbat, and the negative power supply is supplied to all pins marked GND. Please note that the module controls power supply and is designed to operate from a lithium-ion battery. That is, the supply voltage should be no higher than 4.2 Volts and no lower than 3.2 Volts. Once power is applied, the module is ready for detection. In my case, the power supply was 3.3 Volts from an AMS1117 type stabilizer.

There are additional adapter boards for this module for ease of installation, but since I only needed audio outputs, I decided to solder it with thin wires on a breadboard.

If everything is clear with the connection of buttons, LEDs, microphone, then there is a small nuance with the output. The fact is that in order to connect speakers that have a built-in amplifier, we need three wires: left-right channel and ground. The BK8000L module is designed to work with headphones, and each ear must be connected to its own two pads on the board. These are AUDIO_RN, AUDIO_RP, AUDIO_LP, AUDIO_LN, i.e. right minus, right plus, left plus and left minus. Having connected the oscilloscope, I saw that the signals were moving relative to each other and were shifted in phase by 180 degrees.

This is done for greater output swing. Since I have an amplifier in my speakers and I don’t need drive, I simply connect: the right channel to AUDIO_RP, the left channel to AUDIO_LP (through 0.47-2.2 uF feed-through capacitors), ground to the ground of the GND board. I leave the other two pins unconnected.

The entire structure was built into the speaker body, the power was taken from the power supply of its amplifier. Works very well.

Technological progress is moving forward by leaps and bounds, now even preschoolers have a mobile phone and know how to access the Internet, and seeing a person talking to himself on the street, no one will twirl his finger at his temple - everyone is already familiar with a Bluetooth headset, which is a wireless technology. This transmitter operates using encrypted signals, which, in addition to convenience, allows you to protect personal data. The wireless module allows you to establish communication among several devices.

Bluetooth application

This device is now built into almost all cell phones and many laptop models. This allows you to significantly expand their communication abilities:

  • You can exchange various files (photos, videos, music) between phones, phone and laptop, communicator, camera.
  • The module allows you to connect any peripheral devices (wireless headsets, headphones, speakers, video cameras and other gadgets) to phones or personal computers.
  • Talk on the phone without holding it with your hands.
  • You can create a wireless network between several of your PCs and other devices at home or in a small office, allowing you to have constant access to the necessary files from any device.
  • The Bluetooth adapter allows you to access the Internet by synchronizing your PC with your mobile phone.

That is, wireless devices are necessary not only for using a hands-free headset, but also facilitate communication between the computer and gadgets.

How to make an internal bluetooth module for a laptop?

For an active person, it may be inconvenient to use an external Bluetooth adapter. Some craftsmen suggest modifying it with your own hands into an internal one by soldering the device to a USB connector. This option is suitable only for those who are familiar with a soldering iron and have experience in assembling and disassembling laptops.

Work on improving the gadget with your own hands is carried out in several stages:

If everything is done competently, the device should work.

Is it possible to make a wireless module yourself?

Sometimes the question is asked: is it possible to make a transmitter with your own hands? This option is quite difficult to implement. You cannot assemble a microcircuit with your own hands at home, since it is very miniature, requires very delicate work, and the selection of the frequency range is carried out using integrated solutions; the protocol has been developed by specialists for years.

Therefore, radio amateurs can only use ready-made Bluetooth transmitters and modify them at their own discretion, adding the necessary elements to the finished circuit with their own hands. Some suggest upgrading a music speaker with a module or making wireless speakers, as well as adding a transmitter to the car’s audio system to avoid a clutter of wires and download your favorite music directly from the Internet.

The video below shows in detail how to do this. But in any case, such manual work requires good knowledge and skills in radio engineering, otherwise from one working Bluetooth module and additional elements you can get a set of disparate radio components.

Homemade Bluetooth receiver. DIY universal bluetooth receiver from an old bluetooth headset for a 3.5mm jack audio connector.

I think it’s no secret to anyone how a bluetooth headset works.
This article describes how to make a more versatile device for wireless music playback while maintaining headset functionality.

This homemade product will be useful for drivers (for making and receiving calls through the standard audio system), for listening to music through an AUX connection or on headphones.

For production we will need:

1. Bluetooth headset;
2. Audio connector 3.5mm jack;
3. A pair of wires;
4. Heat shrink;
5. Super glue.

From the tools:

1. Soldering iron.

Making a Bluetooth receiver

We will need a 3.5mm jack audio connector. You can get it from old equipment, as I did, or buy it at any radio store.

We carefully remove the speaker from the headset and unsolder the wiring from it.

We place our 3.5mm jack audio connector most conveniently and solder the wiring according to the pinout and glue it with super glue.

Since the headset produces a mono signal (for one channel), we will combine the right and left channels into one, soldering them together with wiring. The photo shows that two red wires are soldered to one channel. One goes to the headset, and the second connects the right and left channels. Now the mono signal from the headset will be sent to both channels. If this is not done, then when listening to headphones only one side will play, the same with any audio system.

Now we put on heat shrink to insulate the contacts and aesthetically appearance.

This completes the modernization. Connect headphones or AUX cable and check.

As an UMZCH I used a stereo ULF of 20 watts per channel, which costs $20 on ebay. You need to disassemble it and inspect the inside of the case to understand where to get the power from the module and where to actually place it. When everything is unscrewed, the amplifier looks like this.

Now about the bluetooth audio transmitter. It is bought ready-made.

All together - adapter and stabilizer - costs less than $8.

An disassembled Bluetooth audio receiver is shown in the photo. Connect 3 wires to the audio jack.

Now solder the wires from the USB cigarette lighter - charger.

They are both designed for power supply from 12 V. If the amplifier operates even from 24 V, it is still suitable. But if the amplifier operates at a higher voltage or is powered directly from a 220 V network, you will have to take a USB charger separately, or look for a lower, stabilized power supply on the board of the UMZCH itself. In general, you will figure this out yourself.

Now connect it to the bluetooth receiver according to the power supply on the board - this is 5 volts. Both modules are attached to an aluminum radiator, as the most massive element of the circuit.

The input wires are directly soldered to the audio out line of the amplifier, but if you want to add an active subwoofer or connect something similar, you need to drill a separate 3.5 mm output in the rear panel. Carefully secure the Bluetooth receiver itself to a suitable place using hot glue.

And here is the final view of the UMZCH, with an additional audio output that receives a signal from the Bluetooth channel.

Thus, for just 400 rubles it is absolutely possible to make it wireless, that is, receiving an input signal via a radio channel from a smartphone or other Bluetooth-equipped device.
